United States Air Force Academy - Basic Cadet Training Class of 2020

United States Air Force Academy - Basic Cadet Training Class of 2020
The United States Air Force Academy brought in the Class of 2020. Approximately 1,100 appointees showed up for in-processing. The basic cadets will be in training over the summer and ready to be accepted in the cadet wing prior to the fall semester. Appointees are selected from all 50 states and U.S. territories, along with foreign exchange students from abroad. The four year program graduates cadets with a bachelor of science degree and commissions them as second lieutenants into the United States Air Force. B roll includes day 1, in-processing. Intramural sports, military instruction and training.

All I know that I'm a US Marine Sgt in the sandbox from 03-04 and we are the baddest of them all! What I also do know, had it not been for an F-16 / Pilot and the maintenance crews at Balad Air Base in Iraq I, my teammates and my children would not be here today. I would gladly serve again knowing those guys were flying over us. Oorah and God bless the USAF!

The funny part are those who say that they should have attended the AF academy instead of Marine Corp boot camp. It is true the academy would be a lot easier until they actually went to the science and engineering classes. At that point, I think they would prefer to be in Marine Corp boot camp. People forget that they only train for four years to be an officer but are taking four years of STEM classes.

Interesting memories....... I had joined the regular Air Force in 1957, just out of high school, and was stationed in Denver, where I watched the first two classes of cadets at the temporary academy. I learned that each geographical area of the regular air force could send up to 6 airmen to the Academy if they passed the entrance tests... and I did, and I was accepted into the class of 1961. But I really just wanted out of the Air Force, I was fed up and wanted to go back to college and civilian life, so I did two years at the Academy and then quit. I had started rebelling, especially towards a Captain who was over us, who was called 'Baby Jesus' because his name was B. J. Ellis, who gave me many demerits and hours walking 'tours' for my rebellion, and I left then after two years of quality education and a nice summer trip to Europe. And now, having just turned 83 years old I still have no regrets at leaving, as I realized that you were required to give up your soul when you signed up for military service........

Most of you putting these kids and USAFA down could never get accepted to USAFA, West Point, Annapolis, Coast Guard Academy nor the Merchant Marine Academy let alone handle what they do to be at these places. You realize that these academies are schools, don't you? I guarantee that this video does NOT show everything that they have to do nor the stress they go through. But if it makes you feel better about yourself to put down these college students (this is a college), by all means, keep at it.

Alright. Let's talk about something people don't put this into their heads. I would like to Join the Air Force one day (This might be the case within 3 years) For you to even get accepted. You have to pass the acdemics part. There is a certain test that keeps crossing my mind that you have to pass. (I forgot the name will put it in later!) Then it's training. The PT is not as hard as others (but still is HARD) and you have to physically fit to do so. Also! The AF doesn't reply as much as the other branches. Which is probably why they don't get trained as hard and more of just play team based games to work on communication and teamwork along with effort. Then (I imagine) you split off into more. Cyber security or Jet Pilot. Cyber security you have to pass literally everything and be as organized as ever! If your late, or missing something. You just put a huge dent in trying to be part of cyber security. As for flying Jets. That takes YEARS! (Again I imagine) you don't even get INTO a Jet until you've been taught about everything! The Navy is always 24/7 on a boat. And barely home ever. Army is always deployed when their is a situation. 3000 more families were separated a couple weeks ago and deployed to Iran. The Marines are always almost as deployed as much as the Navy. The coast guard is sortof a watch point position and calls other branches when their is a problem. Air Force is Probably the Smartest/Least deployed Branch. But y'all talking about other branches and calling them trash as if they are a whole nother army for a whole nother country. Just fucking stop. Why do y'all have to get me (who is probably younger than some of you watching) to tell grown ass adults how to act on the INTERNET
