Whether they are training in a desert environment or the forested hills of Poland the soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade, 4th Infantry Division showed they are able to blend in with their environment after camouflaging several Bradley Fighting Vehicles and M1 Abram Tanks, Jan. 20, at Presidential Range in Swietozow, Poland.

Make the tank electric/gas hybrid so it can go into silent stealth mode when needed and use electronic camouflage and that tank would be easy to hide on a battlefield

electric/gas hybrid would just be impractical. plus, as kilment said, abrams' gad turbine is quiet at longer ranges due to higher frequency

Why won't the US army paint the vehicles white or green if they want to camouflage for the snow????????????

I like how they only use dead foliage as if the trees wouldn't be exploding during a fight anyway.

You can't imagine a group of tanks go into the timber and vanish with some hard work next to a road where the enemy is going to be coming down to get at a bigger position, and they just light them up as they go by, vehicle to vehicle, smashing them up?

....in combat... In all seriousness, you can implement this sort of covering in most any situation, provided you're in a woodland enviornment. Provided you have the time to do it. Situations that mandate the element of surprise benefit the most from it.

Its really cringy with the desert tan when you compare it to other countries camouflage training. I know, I know, most of the fighting the U.S. is doing is in desert areas now, thats all fine, and I'm sure they wouldn't actually use desert tan in these conditions if it counted, Its just a little annoying that its hard to find modern american vehicles that arent plain desert tan. And a national guard base near me had an exercise where they invited regular people to act as insurgents (using the blank firing laser tag stuff) they wanted to see if a regular group of people who where't professionally trained could find a weakness in the national guard and the desert camo tan on the m1a1 (not a2) tanks and other vehicles they had made them hiding in the forests laughable and since they where basically fighting a bunch of hunters and loggers it contributed to a few more vehicles "lost" than i think they would have liked.

No offense but the M1 Abrams Tank is freaking 30 years old the U.S. military seriously needs to make a new 21st century tank. The Chinese and Russia are making new tanks we need to catch up.

Lol no we don't. This tank is design to have upgrades and to be all around. The engine is a simple plug in battery almost. With updates in composite armour like m1 to m1a1. And m1a2. And the soon to be m1a3. It's saves money. Lots in fact. This tank is designed to serve the next 50 or so more years. There's room for armour and better gun if needed. Just like all of out planes. They are design to take upgrades in the future.

They’re making new tanks to compete with the upgraded Abrams tanks. Once, an Abrams in Afghanistan was immobilized due to an engine failure. It was unfixable, so they brought another Abrams in to destroy it. From point blank range, the second Abrams couldn’t destroy it. So an Abrams can’t even kill itself.

The Russian T-90 is another upgraded T-72 and the Type 99 is also just a heavily retrofitted '72.

if you're referring to the new T14 Armata, only a few hundred will be bought as Russia cant even afford their shiny new T14, and the ones they do own arent combat capable yet, and china's "new tanks" are just reverse-engineered Soviet Union era tanks
