An extension to my blog, A KZread CHANNEL! I will be posting videos and things created on here from now on.... enjoy!

My name is Gareth Cooke, I am a member of the Barnsley Athletic Club. I am documenting my travels, completing races and challenges, overall whilst enjoying my running.

My channel will include a variety of things whilst I'm on the Ramble and on the run. Whether this is talking about the latest news in the running world, a running race I've completed, my typical training week or nutrition involved. I'm also an avid running shoe connoisseur, and will regular buy a new pair to try out and have a go at! So keep listening, keep watching, and Just Keep Running!

The title ‘therunningmaninblue’ came from choosing to wear the same blue top when racing before I joined a running club. I have previously run for Penistone Footpath Runners & Athletic Club; making the transfer to the blue side again in 2021.

Like and Subscribe wherever you can, it helps out, a lot!

Impressive stuff! 👏 Great to hear that a large proportion weren't members of clubs. Hopefully it encourages people to join local clubs or at least continue with the training.

Great video Gareth and Niomi. It's certainly given me some motivation back having the 10k. Well done Gareth on the work you've put in to get the event up and running and hopefully next year's will be even bigger and better.

Great point about it being organised by Barnsley for Barnsley rather than an events company rocking up and putting it on for us.

What a very emotional event, both of you. Was lovely to see you all. Well, ran to you all whether running or organising, or both. I very much enjoyed running. The collective of runners together is always emotional. Happy tears and support. The atmosphere was electric.

Brilliant event Gareth, well done bud. Also cheers to Naomi for sorting me a different t shirt. Even had staff / students asking me about it at work so it has definitely created a buzz in the town. Looking forward to next year 👏🏻👏🏻

Kudos to you Gareth and your team/volunteers/emergency services/others for organizing this wonderful event. You can tell a lot of work goes into it behind the scenes and it brings the community together. Great stuff! It's people like you that are truly bringing happiness to your local community. Thanks for the vlog. And great run Naomi. Best wishes from Sydney, Australia.

In the words of a great Barnsley lad “none too shabby” that! Amazing and personally so pleased to hear that some money has been raised for Barnsley and that the event was so well supported. I really hope that you have started and revived a legacy that continues well into the future. Also I was pleased to see the Mayor? Start the race and supported it too. So many volunteers it is mind blowing and you should feel extremely proud of yours and your teams organization. WELL DONE!

Me and Mark just saying today how well you did at organising and didn't look like it could've gone better (although on the other side you might have things you'd do differently). The setup / signage was quality and seeing town centre buzzing before 9am on a Sunday was amazing !! As much as I don't like running up and down Huddersfield Road so didn't enter I did have serious FOMO so if it's on next year you never know..... Well done again 😃

Different gravy that race guys. I did the Cannon Hall 10k in 2012 that set off from the town centre but the event on Sunday was a world apart from that. Not heard of a single negative and it genuinely felt good to support a local race. Getting everyone to cooperate to get that put on was some effort. Let’s hope there is another event and long may this revived event continue. Great to say hello to Naomi at registration as well 😂 Well done 👏

Gareth haven’t watched your video as I write this but have seen John’s (2 running brooms) and I am so encouraged that a council has supported a local club by having road closures and allowed a race through the City Centre.. You must have put in hours of work so I would like to say a massive well done and hope this race becomes a tradition once again for your loved Barnsley. I hope other towns//city’s follow this lead and try and encourage youngsters to be involved in sport instead of other less desirable things many get up to. Brilliant and many congratulations to you and everyone involved in Barnsley particularly a Council that has got involved.

I have had Vitiligo for well over 50 years - awful running in sunny weather as I burn very easily - any time from April until October !!! I go for runs very early in the Summer and haven't done long races for many years in the heat - I learnt the hard way in events such as the Stainforth 20 and the Sheffield Marathon in flaming June !!,- another great video Gareth

Another great report on one of the highlights in the local running calender - I can never remember it raining at the DF relays before either-!! but a few years back a longer course which finished at the far end of the lake was the first leg in the SYRL - absolutely bounced it down and slower runners were coming back in the dark -Fot those who have not run there - Low Bradfield is officially the midge biting capital of the known world- Sadly another one I dare not run after the arthritis flare up - but good news - hopefully I will racing again this weekend !! Thanks agsin 🎉

Many thanks- Fantastic video and footage of the BBRR - a great event on the local running calender - I run in many of them for various clubs since it changed from a walk to a run 30 years ago - even though work often got in the way !!! - but only every run in the first 6 legs over all that time .Sadly I had to miss it this year due to an arthritis flare up in my knees , legs and feet just a few days before the event but hope to back on either leg 4 or 5 again next year - Especislly nice to see some of the route out in the wilds and the back and beyond where I have never trod !! Thanks again Gareth and Naomi - Well done to everyone who organised , took part or did both !!,

Looks like a good event👍. Well done on the placings. Did I spot Saucony pros or speeds?

  • @therunningmaninblue
    @therunningmaninblue18 күн бұрын

Saucony Pro’s opted for them over the Nike Vaporfly’s or Alphafly’s because of the lack of a ‘tail fin’ making them better on the off-road rocky stuff and steps in the leg. Was a choice between them or the New Balance RC Elites but think the foam of the elites would have been too soft with the amount of water on the route. It’s around 70-80% Road on that section of the Barnsley Boundary, so was always going to be a road shoe for me.
