Millhouses parkrun - flattest route in Sheffield? But is it the fastest?

Mllihouses parkrun in Sheffield, on the face of it promises to be a flat, fast course on the valley floor running alongside the River Sheaf. Consisting of 3 laps over roughly 80ft of climb, it’s definitely flat by South Yorkshire’s standards. With some twists, turns and a fairly simple out and back section. The course does have a little bit of everything. Attracting over 354 runners on average each week, but recent figures have been pushing well over 400/450. Judging by the neighbouring, Endcliffe, Graves, Hillsborough, Concord and Sheffield Castle; it’s definitely not the forgotten parkrun of Sheffield.
I’m personally two weeks out from London Marathon, not wanting to leave my chances of a marathon PB on the course this weekend, the plan does call for a steadier one. But you know what it’s like once you hear the word ‘go.’ My chances were last weekend over at Hull to ensure my legs would recover in time. So into the taper I go.

Just done Millhouses once and as you say it is a busy parkrun with tight corners, narow paths and a large number taking part - my memory was why dont they push the start line back 100 metres or so then they would be spread out more over those early turns on the bridge -.must admit though it is a lovely park -
Really nice park, but it's not that enjoyable running round at 8mm as it's even more congested. When it first started, the start was right at the bottom of the park, where the current turnaround point is. It seemed to be less congested then, but you still needed your wits about you!
