i compare every step mist, when you make lens 10-35mm make 1/2 35-85mm make 1/4 85-135mm make 1/8 135-super tele you dont have this filter becouse a flare was blooming
I don’t understand what you’re saying here…
@@AnthonyToglife there are several lens characteristics with the right mist filter match so that it doesn't over bloom,

Awesome review of the cool Gimbal, it sure look really good. Great video!
Thank you so much Agnetha! 🙏🏾
Good review, Anthony. Watching you chasing and hearing you were getting tired was pretty cute. Seems like Zhiyun would have been better to send you a prototype so you could give them design tips. The D ring and length of the base plate have easy fixes.
I couldn't agree more my friend, lol. The design issues are unfortunate because it would otherwise be a VERY solid gimbal, especially for the price! Since I almost always use my pancake lenses on the gimbal, that part doesn't bother me, but not being able to use my ND filters is a BIG drag. It's going to force me to buy 52mm ND filters, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but shouldn't be necessary. I hope you're doing well. Let's plan our meetup while I'm out here in your neck of the woods.
Greatest channel that has ever existed
I appreciate you big guy!
Good and honest review! Thank you!
Thank you so much good sir! I hope you've been well.

Nice work. Thanks

As a client I would always want the raw footage, especially for such important moments like a wedding. That way I can hire a a cutter in 10 years, who makes a new master cut or includes old scenes in a new film. You could of cause make a contract with the creator, that the has to archive the footage for the next 70 years, but it is a hassle and a high risk, especially if you moved to an other country and now you somehow have to connect all the film studios, that they can collaborate and produce a new film together behind you back. The other point is remastering the footage in 20-30 years, if we have new standards and technologies. Much easier with raw footage. Maybe we use different color spaces in the future. Then REC.709 is just a bad choice. An other scenario: I contract an other producer in 25 years, who should create a foto album for me about my marriage. How can he match the style of all photos, if he does not have the raw files? The end result would be much worse. A compromise could be an intermediate product, where I get edited footage with a high bitrate, bit depth and custom conversion LUTs for other color spaces.
Thank you for the thorough comment. I think a big group of people who refuse to provide RAW files aren't full time photographers/videographers who rely on income from this for their livelihood. When you do this full time, you quickly realize making money is much more valuable than arbitrarily holding onto to something that isn't significant in the grand scheme of things.
Great advice
Thank you kindly!
Nice to the point video, with a nice model to boot. I just had a light go out and am looking at options, ideally with direct bowens mount. Looks like a good light.
Bowens mount is an absolute must for me @filmstudiojapan! I had one light that wasn't bowens mount but had an adapter. Where, the adapter was poorly made and one evening my light fell off the adapter and crashed down to the ground. From then on, I only get lights with bowens mount. I do love this light though, it's been my go-to as of late.
Can you incorporate continuous light with the small flash you put on the camera??
Most certainly @YoungDecent1. It's all about balance!

Boom @mallem1755! Let's goooo!
That point about the indoor window vs. the outdoor sun makes so much sense. Thank you!
You are most welcome @beingwellgrounded!
Thank you my brother! I shoot the Buffalo Black Achievers every year, including the official Headshots. Each year I try to use something slightly different, and improved, while achieving the goals of my clients. I was thinking an arc reflector for lower face shadows which is a challenge without more lights etc.; but they are bulky and not versatile so stripboxes comes to mind. I use Glow like you and my mind is made up! Thanks again keep up the great work!
I definitely use this modifier a TON when doing headshots these days @pictureperf!
Hi there Anthony, I've Sent you a email about flash and iso, hope you can employ the method i refer to and make a vid on your experience with it.
Hmmm, I'm not sure I received it. What email did you send it from?
Wow the final edit with the music worked seemlessly. Great video, great concept well done!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much @YogaLifeEtc, much appreciated!
Adding more diy diffusion to the inside or outside of the softbox could have been an option or hanging a sweater over the middle of the softbox so the light wraps around the sweater or keeping the modifier where it was but feathering it alot woyld have reduced the light hitting the subject. I agree with all that you said, the black dish is a niche modifier vut i would also say its a gimmick unless its being sold for the purposes of reducing the power of the flash for better ambient mix light like you needed. Niche or not, im not spending $250 to throw away 2-3 stops of light. Also, if its a location shoot and you don't have tome to scout the location first, you cannot bring every modifier you own due to the weight and portability, etc so bringing a niche modifier would probably be at the bottom of my list as 90% of the time i need more power not less. Love your videos i just wish they would pop up on my feed more often. I just realised i haven't seen your previous 10 videos. I will definitely xheck them out.
Yes, of course there are other options @YogaLifeEtc, but they all would require more work than just using the Blackdish.
Great Video. These are some things I'm currently experiencing. Last month I was robbed for my video camera at gunpoint and shot in the leg fracturing my femur. Happened at a park in broad daylight. I'm still relatively new to the camera game but the experience has opened my eyes to the fact that there can be some real concerns regarding safety. I'm not letting that stop me though. Keep up the great content. I just followed you on IG as well.
Damn, I'm so sorry to hear this @armaniyett7410. Where did this happen? One of my main reasons for leaving LA was due to safety; so many photographers were experiencing exactly what you went through and although no place is 100% safe, I didn't want to be in a place where this was happening so brazenly, especially in broad daylight.
I use 50/50 sigma glass, it works great, can't say I had any AF problems EXCEPT with the 5d2. Sounds like you need to tune it, that should do the trick. I hate to see you miss out on literally the best bang for buck Glass on the planet, due to not adjusting the focus.
I use Sigma glass all the time @amirleon996, but there's no denying that the focus is inconsistent on DSLR bodies versus mirrorless bodies.
It was B
lol. Got it. If you have the eyes for it. You can tell.
Thankfully near all of my clients don't have the eye for it, lolol.
Thanks, I never thought about soft and diffused being different. I remember people saying for softer light you can bring the light closer, I'm now imagining this is because it increases the relative size of the light in relation to the subject right? But then because of inverse square law and it being closer, that means that there will be more specular highlights right? So if you wanted low specularity and high softness you'd need a HUGE light far away? Am I understanding correctly?
You are correct in that bringing the light closer increases the relative size, which makes the light softer. You are incorrect in that there is more specularity when it's closer. The inverse square law simply means the light falls off faster (i.e. your transition from highlight to shadow). Specularity is something completely different.
My guess is b
Yesss!
Boom!
I never thought that anyone would even ask it. My first digital camera was an Ixus 30 and it had a 5.2 - 17.4 mm lens. I never thought it would give same results as 5.2 mm on full frame superficially as Canon clearly stated it was 35-105 mm equivalent.
It was once a pretty highly-contested topic, not sure if it still is today as I don't pay much attention to online bickering lolol.
Thank you. There is another point I thinkk: The importance of the modeling light. There is no modeling light on the bare bulb, and for me it is important to have a modeling light to see how you are changing it. So I think there is no choice it is the fresnel head. What is your opinion ?
I never use the modeling light so that isn't a factor for me @user-cz7wp4jz6n, but if that's something you use, there is no other choice. ;-)
What bracket did you use to hold your flash meter?
It was just a cheap cell phone holder @DMW5533.
Sixth reason is third party lens being banned.
Hopefully that is changing with the recent announcements from Tamron and Sigma.
Im still using tamron g2 lenses which are sharper on my rp from my 6d2
The focusing with mirrorless cams definitely reinvigorated by EF lenses, hands down!

That was my goal, I’m happy to have succeeded! 🙏🏾
Nice video Anthony...keep them coming
Thank you so much @richmal50!
I see no noticeable noise, how come?, if I look at a photo I took today outside of a kingfisher, I used an iso of 250. There is noise there
The camera you use plays a big factor in the amount of noise present. Even at ISO 100 there’s noise though, it’s just not always easily visible.
This was a fun video, and the audio was no big deal… but your video made me realize why I never encounter this problem: My outdoor still photography shoots are always morning or evening magic hour, which not only serves as a kind of “natural ND filter,” but also a more flattering color & direction of ambient light anyway.
Absolutely @brotherted9212, if you can schedule all your shoots around those times, it's definitely useful. But, many times, it doesn't work that way, and knowing how to still achieve quality images is important.
Is fashion gray good to use
In what context are you asking @stevenmeansphotography3861? Because the short answer is "yes", but it depends on what you're wanting to do...
great video, thank you!
You are most welcome @user-tk5dz8hg9g!
Good and educational approach on tools we used as photographers. Knowing how to get the shot when unforeseen circumstances arise, having the tools to do so and reacting quickly without missing a beat, is what is truly means to be a photographer.
Indeed brotha, indeed! You’ve said it before, all us photographers have tools and knowing when and how to use those tools is crucial to our success as photographers. Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ bro.
Nice video, well explained and very helpful. Thank you

Hahaha, thank you @jonathanniakale4226.
Crazy 😂 I use this several times a month for Weddings… I will never get caught without it. I feel you on the weight, I usually quick release it on & off a Monopod and let it rest in between moments, otherwise it is double duty on a tripod.
I can absolutely see the use case for you wedding photographers @moneyboys2010! I will sometimes use it at events depending on the venue and layout.

Thank you @iLLiTv1, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna re-do this video this month though, just for the heck of it, lol.
Would you recommend this light over something like a weeylite COB light?
@TMIDD don't come over here starting problems hahahaha
Was this really done with speedlights? Sure looks like it. Edit. Commented too soon. Lol.. Redo this with 600ws strobes!
What would be the purpose/need to use 600w strobes for comparing two modifiers?
@@AnthonyToglife Really? The size of the modifier!!
A 25” and 28” modifier certainty don’t require a 600w strobe. Perhaps you should go watch my video where I demonstrate using a speedlight with a 60” modifier. The size of the strobe only matters with respect to flash power (wanting to keep it lower for either fast recycle time or faster flash duration, or distance).
@@AnthonyToglife You're better off using a slip-on modifier on speedlights. This is overkill.
@@MrDan1509 you’re overthinking it.
Thank you so much. Watched a bunch of videos wondering why there isn't one that's like this. Liked, commented and subbed. Keep going, you're going to make it big.
Much appreciated @aleknovkovski7090, thank you for stopping by!
Oh ! Thank you man! I got totally confused with all the different names and turned out to be same thing.
Definitely the same thing @VishwasRavindran92, just marketing differences.
You should have tried it with the grid. That greatly reduces the outer spread, creating a more directed beam forming light. If you wanted a beam then use a grid. That's what they're for
I think you just commented to make yourself feel good @Kevr0 because the comparison in this video wasn't about trying to reduce the beam of light, it was comparing two equally-sized modifiers.
Thank you for the excellently explained video! I'm considering getting Manny Ortiz's Beauty Dish since EZ Glow isn't available here in Europe, and the shipping costs are too high. However, I'm unsure whether to get the one with a silver or white interior... Is there a significant difference between them, and what would you recommend?
If you're going to use diffusion, there's is no discernible difference between white or silver (even though some KZreadrs will swear there is). Even if there was, it would be soooo minimal that for all intent it wouldn't matter. If you're using the modifier without diffusion, there absolutely is a difference! I always go with white because silver can be too specular and I don't particularly go for specularity when I shoot. But, it really comes down to preference.

I'm so late in responding to my comments that I don't even know what the correct answer was anymore, LOLOL.
which camera lens and camera setting for your video? that look stunning
@EniusG-kz2me Canon 7D Mark II with the EF 40mm f/2.8 lens. 30fps at 1/60ss, ISO 400. Weeylite Ninja 300 with a 25" octa for the modifier.
@@AnthonyToglife Never thought that Canon 7Dii could capture this much quality video. I appreciate your excellence. Please make a tutorial about lightning and color correcting video. Thank you so much for your effort to reply
I'm buying a parabolic within a month for video and photography. I think, maybe wrongly, the parabolic fits better for hybrid use. Also it has a more professional aesthetic to trick clients with 😂
What do you mean by hybrid use @samiiromaar? I can't disagree on that aesthetic look. ;-)
How durable does it feel, with it being as open as it appears and how long is the power cord?
The things feels like an absolute tank @BraxtonHolley! The fans all have an aluminum cage around them so I don't think durability would be an issue at all. The cord is 15 feet long.
