Social media has bred a generation of content creators that don't know that is the traditional interview setting. Direct to camera has become so popular but man does traditional look good specially when you have at least a B cam angle to but to! I thought these videos looked fantastic! You could have used the C cam as a hand camera or only use clips of you reacting or not speaking. Either way... BANGERS! The whole series!!

I talk too much, lol, the only moments I had where I wasn't speaking was when I was trying to gather my thoughts on what I wanted to say, and I probably would have looked hella weird from that c-cam angle hahaha. I'll definitely experiment more on the next one and try some different things. For some reason I really enjoy the traditional look. This may be because I'm a content creator, but when someone is looking directly into the camera, I know they're doing just that - looking into a camera - and it doesn't hit the same for me. With the traditional look, it makes me feel like a spectator and something about that allows me to enjoy it more. It's like, if you were having a conversation with someone, you have to look at them and appear attentive, whereas when you're listening to a conversation between two other people, you get to just relax and listen. It doesn't matter where you're looking or what you're doing, because you're just the spectator. I dunno, hard to explain, lol. I think the next one I do, I'm gonna rent a peerspace somewhere. My house is pretty minimalist, so trying to find good backgrounds is tough, lol. I appreciate you big dawg!

Dude, these videos were crispy too. Proof that these high end cameras aren't entirely necessary. Great stuff! Maybe have the C cam on almost the same angle as the A cam but on a longer or shorter lens? Might give a different look then. I'm actually talking to a friend about doing a short documentary style video with an interview involved. I'll let you know when I get it out. Might be awhile though.

I will definitely try that C-cam positioning next time. I think I was originally going for something more "dramatic" but I didn't find that I had any dialogue that really supported that viewpoint. And ultimately, that drove my decision - does this view help emphasize what is being said, and does it make sense for the viewer to be looking at the subject from this vantage point? I ultimately felt like nothing I was saying warranted the view. It's also tricky because you don't want the views to just look like a jump cut, so there's has to be enough intentional differences to where the cuts are seamless, or at least as seamless as possible. Definitely let me know when it's out, regardless of how far out it is. I will definitely still be interested.

@@AnthonyToglife that definitely makes a lot of sense. You definitely don't want it to look like a jump cut with a zoom in or anything. But having it slightly off axis and maybe at a slightly different height with a different focal length choice might provide what you're looking for. Something to definitely play around with to find something you like.

@@AnthonyToglife just thought if something else too... Depending on the interview, you can potentially have a camera (probably something like a 100mm or 200mm) focused on the details. Now, it'll come in and out of focus as the subject moves, but there may be times where it pays off. Something like focused on the hands. Or the eyes to catch that emotional moment. It may or may not pan out, but if it does, it'll be money.

Great job with the Dan Rather interview setup. Would you have to double it for an interactive interview or would you need a camera operator?

I would double it up, yup. I would likely have one camera facing the interviewer, and then one behind them to give a view of both of us. So in total, 4 or 5 cams. That would be quite labor intensive though, lol. A cam op would be mucccch easier 😂
