    If someone's never played survival horror, but was interested in trying one, would you recommend Crow Country? Or would you recommend to start with a different game?

    1:45:33 I'm sorry, what do you mean Chugging Bleach could end this year?! Are we doubling the episode coverage, doubling the release schedule, and/or skipping the filler arcs? Or is this just hyperbole? This month's Chugging Bleach isn't out yet, so I can't tell what's going on with it!

    21:58 while the shields are intended to be broken by peppermint you can actually just spend a super, I think a majority of them are able to break through clean. the green armor plating that require macaron to break are, I'm pretty sure, explicitly only broken by him but thankfully those are so few and far between it didn't bother me.

    i feel like the division is one of the only franchises that instantly wouldve justified an extraction shooter spinoff because the first division had an entire segment of the game that was an extraction shooter before that genre had a name

    I love ff8s story but the way that game is just like structure with the junction system being confusing and then breaking up party members multiple times makes it harder to go back to compared to other ff games but man that story is so good

    I'm not sure where the idea that Unreal 5 won't support the Switch 2 comes from. They might have to dial the effects down a mite from the PS5/PC versions but that's not a huge struggle.

    I think the big issue with Square’s middle tier stuff is releasing too many games on top of each other with little to no fanfare (anyone even heard of Paranormasight or The Centennial Case?), so ideally maybe they take Capcom’s approach of focusing on one or two big games a year and *some* smaller stuff in between. If anything the news around Square could just be the new CEO finally being able to enact his policies and being done with what was set in stone before. Idk I hope they can turn shit around (they probably could when the Switch 2 comes out lol)

    Dan talking about how most action games with two types of attack (light and heavy attack, usually) don't have great combat is like the most seen I've ever felt listening to a podcast. I played Devil May Cry 1 for the first time in 2018 and went "oh my god instead of a list of 30,000 combos that all do the same fuckin thing every move you have has a very specific purpose and functionality so I actually feel like I have any incentive at all to experiment with the different moves, why aren't more action games like this" and to this day I still don't have an answer (beyond just "making good action games is hard")!

    If you're more of a day-trader kind of person: Nintendo managed an annual Return on Investment of 36% vs 6.8% for Sony. What an excellent use of money the whole massive budget live service initiative has been.

  • @Batterskull
    @Batterskull8 сағат бұрын

    It’s almost like the big 3 need to release more than just 2 or 3 games in a year to keep people on their consoles, and not just massive budget money-sinks that they’ll barely make their money back on even with 10 million+ sales (*cough* Spider-Man 2 *cough*). Here’s hoping Helldivers 2 makes Sony realize that not every game they make needs to be an overly expensive photorealistic “cinematic experience,” just make actual games that are fun to play.

  • @ToastyMozart
    @ToastyMozart7 сағат бұрын

    @@BatterskullIronically, in terms of cinematic-ness Helldivers tends to produce a lot of cool looking action movie moments on the cheap simply through its mechanics. It's just much more Saving Private Ryan or Aliens than Sony's usual HBO fare.

    37:45 I can confirm that the French film adaptation of City Hunter is really good, I watched it without any prior knowledge of the anime or manga.

  • @SingForAnactoria
    @SingForAnactoria11 сағат бұрын

    Context on the french City Hunter from a french fan of the original manga/anime and the movie is that when they brought over the show in the 90s they renamed the characters and redubbed it to tone down some of the grimier crime stuff like prostitution rings and whatnot and turned every vilains into goofy goobers with silly voices (even though the original show is goofy enough) and they renamed the main character "Nicky Larson" and that is kind of a legendary cartoon over here. It's the same story anyway, but the tone is lighter and so the french movie taps more into the energy of the french tv version (even setting the story in france, but it works) while still paying hommage to the japanese original. Imo it's a really funny and cool movie but it might come across as weird for someone who's not familiar with all that history

    The YIIK playthrough's coming at the weirdest possible time. A partial overhaul patch released three years ago, and a full remake seems to only be a couple months away. However, despite some marketing implying the remake would be ready spring 2024, all we've got right now is its demo, Nameless Psychosis. That has been better received than the vanilla and patched base game, so there's hope for it - but not for this deathstream, I'm afraid. I'm fascinated by this weird disaster of an indie RPG that may-or-may-not be rising from the ashes. I want to know how its IRL story ends. I just hope it gets revisited by enough people once it's truly done.

    Square’s report said they’re still going to make mid tier games, so I think the thinning out refers to “we won’t release as many like we did in 2022” For KH4 I could see Square pulling a “we’ll focus on releasing what we have as a PS5/PC only release and then work on a Switch 2 port.” I imagine that could work for KH4 & FF7 Part 3

    The thumbnails have been so good lately ahaha Edit: Regarding the SMT5 DLC, it will be included in the Vengeance game by default (I think except the money/exp dlc I believe?) and since the OG story will still be included in the game, I can see why they'd delist it. P5Royal has quite a lot of differences to the regular version so it's nice both still exist.
