Not saying that Bob and Aggros opinion aren't valid, but I had a great time with Penny's Breakaway. It def lacks some final polish and Aggro is correct in saying these are obstacle courses. The game is way closer to crash Bandicoot or Mario 3D World and less Odyssey.

I haven’t clipped once at all and enjoyed it so far so idk what it is with buggy games and no bugs ever having to me
Listening to Kris learn all this stuff about FF7R is making me go insane because I legit thought it was really easy to understand all of that if you just sitted to try and understand the mechanics for even a single second. It was just me hearing and going "Oh god oh god did all of you never got all of this mechanics no wonder it felt like shit what the fuck". Also all dodges are worthless except for Tifa's which breaks the game because she goes underneath so many hitboxes with it.
@RougeMephilesClone

Aerith's dodge is worth something, but it's to stay in her big magic sigil when her attacks move her forward. I've also heard that Cloud's Deadly Dodge is second to Tifa's. I think Rebirth's dodging is tied to the new anti-air mechanics, so best not to write it off.

It's very important to play games for yourself if you can before having a solid opinion. Love BTD, but sometimes they say shit about games I've played that makes me go, wtf are you on about? Sometimes it does help me notice something that a rosy perspective may have hid from me, sometimes. Mostly, leaves me confused. This is not a bad thing though as I feel it's important to listen to things that you don't always agree with so you don't end up in an echo chamber and BTD has a good balance of stuff I agree and disagree with for me

Listening to Big Think Dimension has helped me realize that I care way too much about other people's game criticisms. I wouldn't say I have it under control, but I am aware of it and try to avoid participating in comment dogpiles like what happens when Bob talks about Kingdom Hearts or FF7R.

I noticed this while playing Granblu Relink this past week. The skill trees are progress locked, so I can only see about half of the tree for each character right now, but a vast a majority of the nodes are extremely minimal stat increases, like 1-3%. A thing they constantly slam "western" games for, but barely gets a mention for Granblu? And don't get me started on the whole fate episodes. Literally text on a static image.
@RougeMephilesClone

@@HamSlammer456Granblue's Mastery nodes start as a way to unlock moves and passives, which feels pretty good, and eventually reach a point where you are so loaded on Mastery that you can auto-buy nodes en masse. It makes it pretty easy to not think about all of the incremental junk nodes in the way. By the postgame, there's other mechanics in play to increase your power. If you don't like the Fate Episodes, mash through 'em for the stat boosts. Those upgrades get more meaningful the deeper they go, and include a couple Sigil slots.
@MrRocknroll566

@RougeMephilesClone that's good. The hard part I feel is to listen and accept that their opinions are very much valid while also knowing that your opinions are just as valid. You can also learn from others views, like how I thought Horizon: Forbidden West was like an 8/10 but listening to their criticism of the game helped me see a few issues I had. I still feel like the game is like a 7.5 because alot of their problems weren't issues for me, but I understood that they still had those criticisms

Not that Bob is wrong with some criticism of rebirth. But besides that Performance is really stable and combat is really fun when you get into it. More importantly the whole Rest of the game seems super promising. I take that over some technical problems that arent even Performance related. I take a good game with visuals artifacts over a technical perfect game that's boring, anyday.
I can't believe the level of skill issue they are having with Penny's Big Breakaway

Seems like the console versions of Contra: Operation Galuga are just fucked. I played the demo on PC (and Switch) and my 1080ti and i7 8700K blasted through it at a solid 1440p 120fps. It felt really good to play.

This week: Nahobiho isn't the weirdest name mentioned on the show
The way Aggro talked about having to play it over ten times to master the movement and enjoy it actually reminded me of Sonic, since 2d Sonic games were also designed with that level of replayability in mind and, at least for me, get better when you're able to maintain your speed/momentum due to knowing all the level design after multiple playthroughs.
Glad we got Nahobi-ho front in center, like he deserves
Man the comments are really harsh on this why do people get so upset about opinions- "Ogre Battle, not a great game" -fight me right now

Im not a huge scrimblo guy and i wasn't having much trouble with Penny's controls. Sorry that Aggro had that experience I think he kinda exaggerated it a bit idk.
Jet Set Radio as an online game you hang out and goof off in could probably work. But with guns? For the players? As like, the main mode?? That's really pushing it. Unless it's closer to splatoon or something, it sounds really counter to the aesthetics and appeal of the games. The core focus should be more on making a weird online Tony Hawk thing, and not the third or fifth multiplayer shooter.
I reeeeeeally wish they would put the name of the game they're talking about on screen. Sometimes they mention it only once and I'm constantly rewinding.😢

Playing Pacific Drive on PS5 this week is the first game I’ve played that’s made me say “man we need a ps5 pro now” since it barely hits 60fps, don’t know why they didn’t give the option to lock the frame rate

Hearing Bob describe Unicorn Overlord makes it kind of sound like Symphony of War. Which kinda worries me because I did not vibe with Symphony of War at all. But who knows, maybe Unicorn Overlord fixed the issues I had with Symphony of War and is a better game.
i think i'm the only one that got dr Aggros reference at the begining and i was soo happy
The "year of JRPGs" stuff made me realize Deltarune 3 is probably this year, too.
One of the more positive parts of Darksiders 2 that Kris didn't focus on was its combat. You can let the Diablo loot carry you through the game, but it's developed enough that there's some sauce to it. In terms of AAA Western action games that aren't named God of War, it's probably third to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and DmC: DMC Definitive Edition, and isn't horribly cringe like one of those. Of course, this is one of those "the game doesn't teach you anything" situations, so you'll have to both look stuff up and unlock some things to really get something going, but for stylish action explorers, Darksiders 2 should be on your list.
Pepper Grinder is 60fps on switch. (Also, the demo is incredibly good)

basically everything in the elden ring dlc trailer was new EXCEPT for the egg lol. why would something be highlighted in a trailer if it wasn't new?
The worst part about the Tales of Arise dlc is it made me want a sequel, because it’s clearly written as if it’s going to do an actual time skip where the old cast is fully doing what they want in life and the new character being the protagonist. If that’s not what they’re doing then the dlc really has no bother existing in any way.
Listening to this a week late and getting to the part where you expect the Twisted Metal live service might actually work...
In response to Dr. Aggro's intro bit... Quake and F.E.A.R. are similar, in some ways, but they're different games
you should at least do all of the proud quests Dan, There's specifically one that i think you'd really fucking like, it's like the 2nd to last one

I played Pennys Big Breakaway, and man, are we even playing the same game? Is the Switch version of this game more stable?. Enemies are not immortal, they just take multiple hits. The YoYo grabbing a ledge?, what on earth are you guys talking about.
It seems like all the League of Legends spinoff material is trying to obfuscate their connection to LoL. Tales of Runeterra, Mechs and Minions, Arcane, L/2XKO, etc. I suspect they might be aware of League's reputation for unbearable toxicity and are trying to avoid association with that in all these products designed to appeal to non-MOBA audiences.
@rivsrivers
3 ай бұрын
idk if the toxicity is necessarily the issue, i think they just want them to be able to stand on their own. if arcane was called "League of Legends: Arcane", people who don't know what that is probably wouldn't want to check it out. but with it just being "Arcane", it allows itself to stand on its own and appeal to new audiences
@MansMan42069

It all started when League axed the Institute of War setting and turned the game from having an in-universe explanation to "a MOBA featuring characters from Arcane™"
