To expand on what kris said ab fallout new vegas being reviewed poorly bc of it not being fallout 3 obsidian had a pay bonus deal with Bethesda that if they got an 85 or higher and the game ended being an 83 and it didn't get the bonuses for the devs despite the entire fucking community saying its the best game in the series lmao

To expound a little bit on how out of touch reviewers were about Sonic and his friends, I recently attended the Sonic Sympony concert in my area and every time Mighty, Ray, Shadow or Silver showed on the projection screen, the crowd gave the loudest pop-off I've ever heard.

Haven't played UO but I think it just goes to show a lot of people played 13S and then nothing else they've done. It rules and is one of my favouritest games ever, but it's the exception in their catalogue.

I feel like the buzz around Marvel Rivals has been weirdly positive despite all the enormous red flags

I know, it’s unreal!

The SH HD collection is a bad in a lot of obvious ways but also many more subtle ways that only really stick out if you're familiar with the original. This will sound snobby but there's a lot of really incredible artistry in how everything was designed visually in SH2 so a lot of the changes made are done really carelessly without consideration for why the original looks the way it did.

The thing with video game critics is that now THEY are too receptive to the public. Oh, we reviewed the broken-ass non game too well and got shit for it? I guess now we have to compensate by giving the next game a bad score to prove that we still have balls! They don't actually look at the game's quality. Only at the possible public feedback to the score

I don't have Dragon's Dogma 2 yet myself (waiting for some performance patches and potentially a sale), but I have been watching a ton of streams of it. And it is mildly frustrating because it does sort of feel like 2 steps forward 1 step back. Where they did improve a lot of things but then other stuff feels like a downgrade? Like for instance vocations going from equipping skills on both shoulder buttons for a total of six down to only being able to equip four skills on one shoulder button. I get that they now gave each vocation its own dedicated action, but why not just have it so that dedicated action is just a skill you can't unequip but you can still equip more skills on that button? Seven skills plus one permanent skill would have felt a lot more freeing than four skills and one permanent skill. Also yes I am still salty that mystic knight got cut and that we didn't get the cool punch alchemist vocation from Dragon's Dogma Online either. Itsuno coming out in an interview and going "no there aren't any hidden vocations outside of what we've shown and we don't plan on ever adding more either" really deflated some of my hype. Also certain mechanics that they had the chance to improve from the first game but instead just double downed on like the really bad affinity system is frustrating. And only one save file was and always will be a bad decision. The game overall still looks great, but as a fan as a first game it is a bit annoying that it still doesn't feel like it hits the potential of how amazing it could be

Somebody else who covered this new feature said it’s going to be free which is nuts. Wish u had known in time to bring it up cause yea, charging for a crowdsourced feature is a bit shit.

I wonder if Paradox could afford to buy Creative Assembly. That's all I could think of who would buy them/makes the most sense to buy them (other than some VC firm)

You know, I looked at the accounts followed by the Marvel Rivals twitter, out of curiousity, and it's all normal various Marvel accounts, but I did stumble upon the game director's account and was struck with him retweeting one Galacta fan-art between two promotion tweets. And looking at it *now* he posted his own art of her too. I think we found out how Galacta somehow became a character people are getting exposed to in 2024! Could also be a coincidence but it's a little funny to think about. And Visions of Mana really looks so good, the glow up from Trials of Mana is pretty incredible.
