On the subject of using a VPN to get cheaper gamepass, I remember watching a KZread short of an indie game dev who said "see this south American country? Our game costs $0.87 over there. They made up 40% of our profits" it was mostly about how piracy was a problem of price and availability, and when they dropped the price the sales jumped a lot.

I'd say Stellar Blade has plenty of build variety in the gear they give you (it's not randomized loot) even though there are no alternative weapons/skills. Not sure about the Sekiro "problem" even being a problem in the first place honestly.

The Angela anaconda sora will appear in the opening short, and just like the original, someone’s parents will get divorced but instead they get turned into a nobody and heartless and will somehow be important lore.

I really really hope Aggro does go back and play Sky/ Crossbell because while like feel said you *can* use context clues, the story of those games are great and it helps enhance Cold Steel 3 and 4 a lot when you know the weight going into the big endgame stuff and especially reverie.

MAG was ahead of its time in a lot of ways. For all of its faults I feel like it solved many of the issues associated with running massive multiplayer fps matches that Planetside and BF2042 struggle with. Its real sin was that it came out on the PS3 instead of PS4-PC crossplay in 2018.

I was too young to know the details behind my local arcade closing, but it was likely a combination of underperformance (it was stuffed into one segment a one-floor tourism hub on the edge of town, and was a pure video game arcade with no prize counter) and a company buying the space. That was still the best arcade I've ever been in, and it's what got me into 3D fighting games and arena fighters (Soul Calibur 1, some Tekken installment, Virtual On, and Power Stone 1 were all there!). It made me super excited to find a variety arcade recently that had Tekken 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 1, Crazy Taxi, and I think WrestleFest, among other things. Rare to find a lot of these cabinets, especially in Canada. Unfortunately, this was part of a vacation, but at least I know these places still exist.

I'm still mad about how cheap food was in Thailand, and how good it looked.

They're supposed to be used as a sort of industrial equipment, letting soldiers move materials around without a fork lift or be able to easily use heavy ordinance or whatever, but because Snow is a dipshit he just uses it to punch people

I knew that, and I've known it for a long time, but dang does seeing it all typed out again hit home how absurd it is. And now I'm thinking about Lightning's antigravity device that's used for several cutscenes before it breaks at the beginning of the game, followed by Lightning picking up antigravity grenades for one cutscene near the end. Final Fantasy XIII sure was a series of fights, words, and hallways strung together in the shape of a game.

I will say the more and more Cold Stell Segments keep going the more they feel less like "Hey those games are really good!" and more like "Its a segment where Kris will tell you to skip the first 6 parts of JoJo to part 7 because he is so smart and context clues matter more" Yes, I *know* this is not the message but it really does hilariously feels like it.

I can see arguments for both the side of starting with Trails in the Sky and the side of proceeding with CS3/CS4 after someone has played CS 1&2. On one hand, some would say a payoff or climax to a character arc or preexisting plot thread can be and often is more satisfying than if you didn't have that proper context and background. And while the payoffs might still be satisfying to some extent, a number would probably agree that it'd be not only lesser, but that the feelings that come with the first time experiencing it won't be able to be easily replicated. On the other, I think that a decent chunk of those who prefer Sky to Cold Steel or Cold Steel to Sky might value different things in JRPGS or narratives in general, which would likely make one of the two appeal more to them personally. For instance, I wouldn't be surprised if the claims of Rean being not as explored or nuanced of a character as Estelle was something that allowed people to insert themselves into the world and his position more. Which I'd say goes to show how one man's treasure can be another's trash and vice versa. Anyway, thanks for your comment.

It's not that you can't start with CS1-4 and then Reverie, but you shouldn't. Insisting nothing is lost in the process is just wrong. These characters and their relationships with one another are developed in a slow burn across multiple games for a reason. Please do not tell people it doesn't matter. "context clues" is not a particularly good replacement for actually experiencing the story and character development as it was meant to be told. Not to mention that the CS games and Reverie spoil major parts of the previous games.

Certain skills and spells your level doesn't matter in Grandia. Sue can learn a skill that can give her a shitload of experience for Fire, Earth, and her equipped Weapon no matter what level. It's not that hard to cap those 2 spells and both of her weapons. She then becomes a monster.

On the topic of Sony being awful, shoutouts to them forcing ALL Helldivers 2 players to link an account no matter the platform, news which broke out a little after the podcast. That and Sony's xenophobic policies being so bad now that Tsukihime's Limited Edition artbook is gonna be censored for PS5 but not for Switch, despite being distributed by Aniplex, a Sony division. It wasn't enough to throw Stellar Blade under the bus, they had to shoot themselves in the foot too to spite their nose apparently.

I don't think Nintendo is gonna increase the prices of the online, but I'm almost sure they will change how the Family pack works because right now, if you get a group of 8, you pay less than 10 for the whole online + expansion.

It's really lame (but understandable) (but still lame) how VR development seems to be shifting away from VR peripherals for dedicated hardware towards self-contained devices like the Quest that are so locked-down and leave less space for things like VR mods for non-VR games and games that support full-body tracking. I guess it leads to a scenario similar to how a lot of games target the Switch as a foundation for performance and get juiced up for more powerful platforms, except that the gap between Quest and everything else is so huge that bringing Quest games to anything else might end up unfeasible for smaller scale projects.

kris desperately trying to spin the square cancellations as a good thing is bizarre. we don't know what games they cancelled. for every potential balan wonderworld axed there could have been a neo twewy unfairly snuffed out.

Heads up, if you are going to do something crazy with bleach, once you get past the next filler arc you should probably skip the intro for a bit. I'm serious when I say that that intro unironically ruins a reveal and it's better to just skip it till after like episode 276. Basically 266 to 276, you need to skip the intro. This might sound harsh but for first time views that getting spoiled to you would SUCK.

Regarding that Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, original director Matsuno said a few months ago that there were currently no plans for it. I assume that the Tactics Ogre remaster replaced it somehow, but who knows. Could still happen at some point, and it's not like it should be expensive since the game was remastered once already. And on the Final Fantasy 9 remake(?) front, FF14's staff recently drew attention to a bunch of FF9 references that were coming to the game around Dawntrail's launch. Didn't explain why. I think something's being announced for FF9 this year. Sure would be nice to get closure on its remaster and/or TV show, both of which have allegedly been seen by people over the past couple of years.

Just had a dream where the Big Think crew gave Another Crab's Treasure, a cute indie Soulslike/6th-gen 3D platformer, a scathing review. It was unpleasant, given ACT's running for my Game of the Year. Note: I am sick, on the most cold medicine I've had in years, _off_ of my ADHD meds because I forgot to bring them on a family vacation, coming down from one of my most stressful months ever, and, obviously, was asleep. My Betrayal Dream does not reflect reality, and probably never will. It did remind me of the Castlevania "You betrayed me!" clip, though.

Guacamelee owns because the colored moves have a natural flow you will be doing regardless of shields. Also enemies suffer knockback when shielded so that eliminates the 7th gen enemy problem you think it has. Both games are great. Why should we trust you guys anyway, you ignored 2023's Tevi, Sona nyl, Tokyo necro, Rance 9. But all had a circlejerk over endless monday(a literally who OELVN), you guys need some new blood in that show because only Kris seems to did his toes into vn
