    Half foots are literally called that because when they were first discovered by Tallmen they found their footprints first and saw that they were about half the size of a Tallman's footprint so they just named them that. The Halffoots didn't have any special name for themselves, they just called themselves "People" until some huge weirdos showed up and made fun of their tiny feet.

    I think one of funnier things about the show is that laios' deep obsession with monsters is just because he thinks they are really cool, but the way he acts makes people get the wrong idea. Probably could have worded this better, but I'm too tired to word good.

    They went with "delicious in dungeon" to have the sound profile of "dungeons and dragons" It almost works

    Almost is still a failing grade. Mind you Spanish went with "Tragones y mazmorras" (to sound like "Dragones y Mazmorras" / D&D) which translates to the horrific "Swallows and Dungeons".

    On the note of dog-like Kobolds, it's a pretty common depiction of them in Japanese media much like with pig orcs. This goes as far back as at least Suikoden. I absolutely love this style of Kobold, that said. More people need to be brave enough to do that.

    Oh yeah, that SAME DAY the holy water flail episode went up I saw a post on r/DnD from someone trying to argue that that should totally work in the tabletop too. Big condolences to new DMs during this show's run lol. My favorite bit of world building they introduced was the whole "using golems as mobile gardens" thing, and it's something I totally want to just rip off wholesale into my own campaign worldbuilding

    Best argument against it is that instructions have clear usages. Like how you can't just roast a C4 to make it explode. Holy water only works like hand grenades

    @@HellecticMojoYeah, the go-to argument is "If the book doesn't say you can, then you can't unless the GM says it works, and if the GM says no just deal with it". Reward creativity but don't badger your GM into ruling things your way because "that's how it SHOULD work". Different fantasy settings have different world building and your GMs ghosts might be different from Dungeon Meshi's.

    i love how this show potrays wizards because in a dnd world where you can get in a lot of easier and frankly more practical ways that teaches you a bunch of lifelong skills alongside magic, the majority of people who study to be wizards have to be deranged and trying to do it to cast really high level magic that alters reality itself, Dungeon Menshi really gets that by painting them as these kinda stupid psychopaths who think they are hot shit 10/10

    Dungeon Encounters uses a death system like this. If your party is wiped, the game just brings you back to the first floor to make a new party. You can go recover their corpses, sure, but that requires having party space open to put them in once you find them. Also if a party member gets petrified, your asses aren't dragging a statue around! drop them where they stand! come back later once you've fixed the issue!

    40:28 I know there's at least an old pc dungeon crawler called Mordor where this is an actual game mechanic, where the deeper you are the longer it takes for rescue. Since you can have multiple parties in the dungeon at the same time, you can even mount your own rescue attempts in an effort to save that one party who fell down a hidden pitfall trap onto a completely unknown floor and are now utterly lost.

    In regards to Tabletop stuff, heres hoping we get more NON D&D related fantasy games and the like, or at least more interest in some of the already released ones. And on wotc doing a Monster Cooking Manual, thatd be hilarious. Especially because the current MM is like 80% "heres a bunch of sapient people with cultures (that are bad and wrong), why its ok to kill them, and what you can take from their corpses". Ah yes, the old strawman about there being nerds offended by the existence of fictional women. Nobody but the most ragingly flaming homosexual is offended by the existence of women in fiction, but men can be offended by female characters inserted contrary to canon of an established property or in violation of common sense, written in a way that violates suspension of disbelief or where it's made clear the entire point is to demean or offend men for the crime of being male. The fact that people who resort to this are also universally terrible storytellers is why such products are beginning to crumble and receive backlash.

  • @HellecticMojo

    @HellecticMojo

    3 ай бұрын

    Yes, people outraged by women are "ragingly flaming homosexuals." Right... Because gays are the ones complaining about woke so much. Sure, bad shows existed before, but I really gotta scrutinize this thing with a woman. Because I care about streaming show's quality that much suddenly and these shows in particular I gotta raise a fit.

  • @RoninCatholic

    @RoninCatholic

    @@HellecticMojo It's not the gays who complain about _woke_ , but that literally only a homosexual man could hate women enough to complain about female characters existing in fiction. I know people like you have poor reading comprehension, but please at least make an attempt to analyze a sentence before responding to it.

    @@dudejoe24 Gay men are the only men who _don't_ have an incentive given to temper misogyny, and many of them get extremely envious and territorial over women "stealing" the attractive men that are "rightfully" theirs. Just as misandry is worse among lesbian women than among normal women. I never said gay men complain about female characters (again, look at what I actually wrote), I said no _straight man_ has ever complained about the existence of fictional women, and implying that the fact a character is female is what upsets people who complain about low quality pandering media is a retarded deflection and a transparent strawman. The idea of a nerd bothered by female characters or female protagonists is utter nonsense, as attested by the popularity of _good_ stories and _well written_ female protagonists across the ages. The issue is that writers churn out terrible agenda-driven political tripe and use token diversity of their main cast as a shield against criticism, attacking anyone who scrutinizes their bad narrative choices and bad technical skills as media creators by calling them sexists and racists. I don't expect you to thoroughly read or comprehend this comment, though, given those preceding it were shorter and simpler and you still failed to grasp what was said.

  • @RoninCatholic

    @RoninCatholic

    3 ай бұрын

    @@dudejoe24 If you think my point was "gay people complain about the existence of female characters" you've completely lost the plot, or more likely never had it in the first place. My point is that no _normal_ man can be so misogynist as to hate the idea of a female character or a female lead character _simply for being female_ - they can be reacting to an intense agenda-driven push for a certain social narrative from creators who prioritize their politics above storytelling, or they can be reacting to poorly-written characters whose creators deflect to calling anyone who scrutinizes their sloppy workmanship by calling them sexists or racists or whatever. But the only kind of man capable of hating women _that much_ is a gay man, because gay men have no incentive to _not_ be misogynist so misogynist gays go _hard_ into it. And again, if you try to deflect from that with saying the gays _you_ know personally _aren't_ misogynist, you're missing the point. I saw a strawman and called it out for what it is. You and Mojo then proceeded to both _be_ strawmen.
