Ah - OK - so you take all the screws out of the bottom, then turn it over (at 1:12 into the video) and suddenly, the top is already off!!! How the Hell did that happen?

In my years of maintaining printers, the sponge or soft foam is there to continuously lubricate the bearings.

I cleaned the top of the laser but not the bottom underneath, maybe that’s why it still is showing the browser screen 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Sadly this didn’t work, my ps2 was bought refurbished and so my laser isn’t the original one. And the cover on it can’t be removed 😢

Soaking items in Distilled White Vinegar is usually used for corrosion removal, but don't leave them soak for too long is my experience, say overnight.

Frank, I've been servicing these for about 40 years. Some help for you here for the entire BG1200 to BG3000 series: 1. The Sintered Brass Bearings must be placed in a vacuum chamber to remove the old hardened oil, and then infused with new synthetic oil. Or you can simply buy new bearings and many other parts from BeoParts shop in Denmark. 2. To reduce the Rumble and W&F significantly, the Idler wheel must be overhauled with new rubber at Terry's Rubber Rollers in Michigan USA. I developed a new thicker, more robust and quieter design of the rubber profile, which Terry will install for you on request. 3. Done properly, this TT will operate perfectly for the next 50+ years.

Hedley Davis is a super sharp engineer! The Hedley Hi-Res mode was a very clever hack. It was a pleasure working for him at Commodore back in the day.

5 years later and this video is still helpful! I was about to buy a Playstation slim because my fat boy wasn't reading blue discs even though it used to. I decided to give this a try, but was skeptical because the qtip didn't even seem like it picked up any dirt. But holy cow, it ACTUALLY WORKED! I'm so excited to play smuggler's run again. Thank you so much for this video.

Ho cambiato power supply niente. Sempre uguale. Non so più cosa fare! Grazie a chiunque potrà aiutarmi

That was my very first "real" amplifier! Bought it as a student back in 1987 (together with a cassette deck K340 and a record player P220 on B&W speakers) and replaced it many years later by an NAD BEE 320. In retrospect, the Yamaha sound felt rather "slim" in contrast to the NAD but I was happy with it for many years.

One of these just came into my possession from a friend. It powers on and plays the tapes fine. I can see the VU meter bouncing, but the headphone jack doesn't work. No sound. If I plug the phones into the "line out" jack, it works but it's distorted. What do you think?

I dont know anything about this monitor that you did not already say. I bought mine directly at Commodore DK probably around the time they liquidated. Everyone lese I knew used their Amiga for games mostly, but I liked to do desktop publishingm strange hobby but there you are. And this monitor put my little A500+ on at least on par with the Macintoshes at the time. It is not even possibly to show the quality of that screen on a youtube video. It is so much better. Actually I would say its a bit like "electronic ink" on an Amazon Kindle, just 30 years ago. its that good. Mine is also lost, but it worked when I sold it. Unlike the Amiga and the harddisk that both had many faults after many years of use. But the A2024 and the Star printer was just perfect.

I think I fucked it. I did as you did, rubbing the lens and laser with a q-tip, but I think I’ve just made it worse. The game I’m trying to get loading better is just acting worse. The main menu’s 3D space has gone from loading instantaneously to popping in quite jarringly. I got past the loading screen I couldn’t before, but the scene after was very janky, audio issues, wouldn’t progress. I skipped this scene and the loading screen after just kept scrolling. On a second boot up the game is just going to a dark screen before the main menu. Have I missed something? I just want to play some abandonware :(

That's not a psx... People that are searching for the actual psx are finding this, which is bad. The original playstation is just called the playstation.
