See, I had a DMPC for about one or two fights. They were all new players who didn't fully understand combat yet, so I used my peacock based arrokakra cleric, ironically named Elleric, to show them the ropes, with the plot being that he was looking for his spouse in the same area the party was going to. Once I was sure they had a good handle on the idea of combat, Elleric found his spouse, and thanking the party, left. I still use Elleric as a normal PC from time to time, seeing as he's a lot of fun to play as.

I would make cursed items VERY powerful, but at a cost. is it worth dealing double damage if you risk hitting a teammate(if they are in range of the attack)? it half your move speed a price your willing to pay to heal every turn? trade offs like those are what I think make good curse items

3:34 this is probably the worst way to handle an edgy sort of character. You kind of have to pair them with someone who’s seen that they can be better or they won’t feel justified within the story. They have to have a person to vouch in order to last long enough for character change. And they do need character change. When you see edgy, brooding lone wolf type characters in media- it is consistent and clear. Almost all of these stories involve the brooding character meeting someone (surprisingly often this will take the form of a child, E.g. X-23 or Sweet tooth but it doesn’t have to be) and through this learning to be a little softer, a little more open, a little more selfless. And yet still people will become obsessed with these characters as they were at there worst and try to emulate them.

There's the Neutral ending as well, we can call it the perfectionist ending. This is when the DM craft is refined and less tolerant of noobs. As a DM, I do both, casual one shots for everyone, but I enjoy highly tactical and good RP games as well with my very experienced players.

Hits 6 times...
