Great looking rig! Just found your series on the flatbed. I might have missed it but what is the total weight with the camper?
Hey guys, just curious if you guys had the title for your truck when you were crossing borders or were you able to do it with a letter from your lender if your truck was financed? Thanks!
Good presentation Man! I find some people who make presentations are too much into themselves instead of the product itself. You did good Bro! Gratitude.
In Europe we are always reading news of young travellers murdered and butchered while travelling in Mexico except the traditional touristic places like the resorts in Cancún. Why should in this town be different? Recently 3 American youngsters travelling by the coast of Mexico were killed with a shot in the head, the robbers wanted their car tyres. Sometimes we forget that South America it’s a Third World place.
What about mass shootings in the US, also kidnappings in Europe.
This video is about North America 🤔
Whats that you parked on top of??
Nice
“We’re the Mortells”… you sound corny
Can you close the tailgate when the camper is loaded on it? We want to tow our boat as well.
I’m Mexican, from Mexico City, but fell badly in love with Morelia when I was 21 (I’m 28 now) I first started going there for an ex girlfriend who studied there, I was doing the trip like every week or 2 weeks, and sometimes staying for 1 or 2 months at a time, that lasted for about 4 years, and then I moved there for work, it was my dream to live there and from the very beginning I enjoyed the city so much, the food, the people, the mercados, and for someone who truly truly loves walking with no purpose Morelia is just amazing, I now live all the way in the north and miss Morelia so much, hope I can someday go back to stay.
Beautiful place my family is 2 hours away from their we live more up on the mountains
Lots of kidnappings
Is the US gov't warning about the much higher crime rate of places like Chicago, New Orleans, Detrout, Baltimore, etc.???
😻
Damn cross eyed cat
This is amazing. I'm pretty sure I'll be building something like this for my truck
Best wishes for your new business......
My grandpa went to uruapan Michoacán with a brand new expedition. He came back without the car and almost without his life.swear to god.
Very dumb idea. Dont go to those places with a flashy car that narcos love.
Hey, sorry for the WAY LATE question, but is your Ram a 6 1/4' bed or an 8' bed? I am just about to purchase a 2500 AEV. I want this exact Bowen setup for my FWC Hawk slide in. Thanks in advance for any info. GREAT looking rig and wonderful walkaround.
Hey sorry just seeing this comment - our Ram is an 8' bed model. If you have a Hawk then you can probably get away with the 6.5' bed. We love our Bowen bed and highly recommend them!
Very Cool
Looking forward to working with your team! what a nice picture of us all lol
I was wondering, now that you have had the Bowen build for some time now, if you had second thoughts about the 8 foot bed based on your application. Have there been regrets, or does the garage make up for the cons? I'm considering a similar build and would value any feedback. Thank you kindly.
We just started watching your videos! We are on our way to Alaska from Florida, we will have to stop by if we have time. Love your content!
Great video, I'm on the fence as to what to do with my F350. I'm leaning towards this same setup❤
A WPG or GWP for your dog?
She is a WPG!
Who made your custom stickers of your rig?! I love them.
My sister actually made them for us! But there are a ton of custom vinyl shops online that you could have them made from.
Good to see and hear from both of you. Best of luck w Nook. Prayers for complete recovery Danny. God Bless.
Thank you so much! We really appreciate your kind words and support :)
I have enjoyed your content, God Bless your health! Congratulations on the new business adventures! Keep posting!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it and will try to post more frequently haha!
Let’s go Mortells!
Woo! Thanks midwest friends!!
Thanks for the update. I've always appreciated your content, especially since you were one of the first to show off the Scout product out in the real world. I've had my Kenai for over a year now and love every chance I have to get out in it.
Thank you so much! We really appreciate that you've been following along and LOVE that you enjoy getting out in your Scout :)
Very exciting guys! Can't wait to come by the shop when we are back in the area.
We can't wait for that either! :) We miss seeing y'all on the journey south but our paths will cross again.
Great news all around! I've really enjoyed your content. And you've been the couple who have convinced me that the Scout is the solution for me! Thanks for that. And good luck and have a blast with the new biz and sweet location!
Thank you so much!! Hearing things like this really makes our day, and makes us want to post more content haha :) I'm glad we were able to help you figure out the right set-up for you!
There's another company out of CA called "Nook Vans", they build overland/adventure vans. Could be confusing.
Thanks for the heads up! We became aware of this after establishing our business entity, but we figured the names, products offered, and geographic locations were different enough that it would hopefully minimize potential confusion.
Agree, provided you are aware. Question about Scout truck campers. Will they plan to build anything slightly larger, with say, a dedicated wet bath + larger lithium/water capacity? @@TheMortells
Sweet! Love this update, sounds like a great reason to visit yellow springs soon!
That would be absolutely amazing! We miss you, friend!
That's great! Wishing you much success.
Thanks so much! :)
That is great! Congratulations!
Thank you!! :)
Congratulations
Thanks!!
Just stumbled on your channel looking for info on Morelia. That is so cool that you travel with your pets, especially your cat (crazy cat lady here!). I am wondering about the logistics of that. Your kitty must be pretty mellow and I would imagine you got him(?) used to traveling at a young age. Helps that he’s orange 😸 Anyway, good luck on your travels and have fun!
Hey there! Yes we got pretty lucky with how chill Walker is. It did take some time for him to get comfortable to traveling but he isn't the type of cat that tries to run away so that makes life on the road a lot easier. We have met quite a few traveling cats on the road the last couple of years!

Thanks for visiting Morelia, is a beautiful city but of course insecurity has always it own, so much to deal with the local people, just the only thing that I know is the most security parts from Morelia City is the southside.
We loved our time there! Good to know about the southside of Morelia having some security issues.
Does it fit to 5 ft bed tacoma, can still close the rear door?
Yes it would but you would have to leave your tailgate down or take it off completely.
Just passed these guys on i70! Just outside Casey IL! Gonna follow the channel! I'm in the terre haute IN area!
Thanks for the follow!! :)
Are you guys running an AC? If so what, and how did u install? I've seen recently scout has started stating to contact them about AC if you want it. Just curious how yours was done, and how its being powered. Sorry for all the questions just love the camper, and really want one. Here in Iowa it gets way to hot and humid for my wife or kids to sleep without ac. Any info price if your willing would be AWESOME!!!
Hey there, yes we are running at 12v ac unit and we did a significant power upgrade as well. Here is a video with some details: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oal-taOof7DHmbA.html Shoot us a message on Instagram or Facebook and we can chat more about other AC options that we have seen.
Awesome video. How’s it holding up over time? Also is it possible to screw things to the panels inside? Like make your own coat hanger brackets and such?
We sold our Olympic over 2 years ago but our Kenai has been holding up great for the last 2 years. We mount a lot of things on the wall with double sided tape or command strips. If we are mounting anything heavier than a couple of lbs then we will through bolt it and have a backing plate on the other side of the wall to spread out the weight.
Hey guys. Just caught your video. I'm looking at getting a camper and scout yoho is on the list. Question is about the Newport heater. The other ones have diesel.. then I saw yours. What size is it?? Thanks
Hey there - yes the new campers have the diesel heater option. Our Newport i believe is the P9000 model. It works great but the benefit to the diesel heater is you have a thermostat so you don't have to get up and turn on/off the heater like we have to do.
how are you going to drive the Pan-American highway through Panama?
Our plan is to ship from Panama to Columbia, it is a very common practice that travelers do!
thumbs down because you did not show inside
Cool cool - this video was specifically about the Bowen bed storage not the camper - we got other videos that show the inside of the camper...
I have friends in michoacan and they've told me there are some places you shouldn't go to but if you stay on the main roads and highways it's safe.
Exactly - taking the main roads to Morelia felt very safe!
Is Grainger a Grif, Chesky or Wirehair? And does he hunt?
Grainger is a grif!
So cool!!!
Thanks! We love it!
Wow! Looks so good. Can you link to the steps you use to get in and out? Thanks! 👏
The steps we were using in this video were the little giant steps that we modified to mount to the truck bed. We have since switched to Torklift Glosteps and love them!
Bowen bed is awesome, y’all’s rig is killer. That said, zero chance I will be paying the Bowen price, its more expensive than my 2020 truck camper cost. Quote as of 1/24 for a base CM flatbed on a 2500 Ram was $4100. Can add all the comparable tool boxes and still save about $15,000 over the Bowen. Not sure in what world that amount of price difference makes any sense at all, but each to their own, no disrespect intended.
There are definitely cheaper options out there but the main benefit that the Boewn bed has over a CM flatbed is it doesn't raise the height of the truckbed at all which keeps our camper as low as possible. Going with a CM flatbed would raise the overall setup by roughly 5-6 inches which would decrease the stability of the truck and also create a larger air dam at the front of the camper while driving.
