I'm here to help those with small urban homes and small spaces to raise animals and grow crops to produce their own quality food, while striving to be as regenerative as possible. I want to help others see how easy it is and what options are out there for small urban properties, and help them get to where they want to be.

Damn this is an old vid, so not expecting a response, but if you do see this, do you think unscented clumping kitty litter would work well as a substrate and be safe?? My thought was it would be easy to clean up daily, unscented shouldn’t bother the birds respiratory system and bec it’s similar in texture to sand/dirt they’d be able to dust bathe with no issues
Omg WINDEX???...PLEASE DONT DO THAT!...ITS TOXIC...omg
This is sad..i feel terrible for them
Cannot find the 1-inch by 1/2 in hardware cloth anywhere and I cannot find any link
uh oh all are Roos they all look the same
They aren't people! Right on.
I have some quail hens and one got spooked she jumped up and hit the bars on top and hit her head she started breading from the mouth I separated her from the flock for a few days so they can hurt themselves, But She is a very big bird and that is why I feel she was the only one that got hurt. Otherwise, I agree it really could be a myth about them breaking their necks unless it has to do with the jumbos. I started working with her and taming her down and she has stopped hitting her head on the top and actually comes up to me when I open her cage, she is my bird that lays dark green eggs like an olive egger in chickens. (But the egg is blue inside in color. when my birds are in a pecky mood at each other I dim the lights and pet them, and they stop pecking each other but that is when it is mild aggression like over food or water, when they are this way. But I have had to separate a bird once because when I bought her from a back yard breeder the quail had a broken toe when I got her. I kept her alone but near other quail and she made a recovery and was able to put with another bird after she healed. But I'm still new to quail.
bought some of the cups for my Quail the nipple keep stopping so hope these work better
This is without a doubt? Professional manufacturers of a quality product
Great video
No , silver labradors are not recognized in any purebred pedigree association . No pedigree Labrador is that color , only scam ( mutts ) sold for purebred .
Wow nice idea thanks for sharing your tips about quail chicks
The yellow and brown lab example is not the best as those are the same breed of dogs , while the different varieties of Coturnix can be different breeds too , Japanese Coturnix is the species , then there are several breeds and colors .
I had polish rooster jump/flight scare in a confined animal carrier and break its neck, witnessed it happen no doubt its possible...
Can you give me your number please 🙏🙏🙏
Color matters. In the wild. Some varieties have different demeanors.
Not even gonna watch the video. NEITHER! Any sort of CUP is a bad idea. NO matter what brand or concept, they all have the same problem, they get nasty dirty and you have to keep cleaning them. not to mention that in winter time the freeze. Forget all that and just use horizontal nipples.
1. about the egg production what the lady´s said is true IF she talk about wild bird vs corturnix. the wild types like bobtail ect dos NOT lay egg´s like the corturnix. there are not only 2 types of quail in the world. theres min 123 types of quail. 2. if you have an axiety for the birds to break its neek, then make a flying aviary or a flying pen, its not that difficult. its like making a hen pen with rounded roof instet of flat roof. you can acturrely do this with the cages to, making the rooff rounded. 3. the square food rule is to animal welfare, so that the quail has enougf space....the square food is a chiken rule....NOT a quail rule, becaurse they are smaller they dont need a square food, its all about the size of bird canculation you wout guess,, if a adult chicken needs 1 square food, a qual that is 3 times smaller, needs 3 times LESS space. basic logic canculation. and then you say, "but chiken´s dont fly", this is not true. to that you need to think about that chikens is accturely JUNGLE birds, that foregde alot and sleep up in trees at night, and move ALOT, quail is NOT forger in the same big scale as a jungle bird, they are ground living, and keep to small areas in the wild, they are not sleeping in trees, but under fallen trees, in bushes, and under tall grass, they dont move alot but keep to a smallere arear in nature, where the chiken as a jungle bird is moving all day for alot of miles pr day in a pretty big areer. you can NOT compare thise to bird with ethother do to living conditions are so diffrent. they are to very diffrent animal, with very diffrent types of living. that is another MYTH that out there, chiken and quail can NOT be compared to ethouther at all.
You must be the only one to have that problem. Mine never gave me any problems. They never had feed in them.
Does your garage ever get too hot for them in the summer time?
I purchase my feed from a local feed mill where it is ground a few times a week. My birds do well. I will also bake and grind egg shells every so often for added calcium in their diet.
Amazing! Do you use the garage? Will the garage door scare them?
I'm using the cups you used to replace the first ones but mine leak like crazy. I've tried to stop it but I guess I don't know how
6:24 the ordering information on
Qusi
I tried this solution (white one) and I do not recommend it. The hens and ducks lifted the cups so often that the water was constantly flowing and spilling into the coop. Horrible mess.
Can quails still get bumble foot from pvc coated hardware fabric? Also will the 1/2” by 1/2” still allow the poop to go through?
The size works fine for poop to go through, and PVC coated is preferred.
@@UrbanAviarybut would that prevent the quails from getting bumble foot? Someone on fb used pvc coated hardware fabric and her quails still got bumble foot. Now I’m worried.
It's the best thing I know of to prevent it, but there's no guarantee. Don't get overly worried about everything that could go wrong and just pull the trigger. You'll learn along the way. Just do the best you know to do. There's always going to be someone with an anecdote to confirm your fears. Just move forward and let experience be your teacher.
@@UrbanAviarywhat other things did you do to prevent bumble foot besides the pvc coated hardware fabric? I would like to know so that I could do the same :)
I was thinking of getting a power washer to wash off the poop off of the wiring.
Cool. Were are you now ?
I need to know if there is an adjustment on filling the clear cups. I have similar but are red but they will fill full and then run all over. Suggestions please.
I don't recommend the white one I used those cups for long period of time. But it gives me more headache and it's hard to manage and maintain. I will surely recommend the red one although they both same automatic drinker but it will give you less headache and easy to maintain. I used red one for couples of years and I will stick to it😊
Zero quality of life. That is battery style and should not be allowed.
Hi i have chick yellow with black stripe marks on the body but no head markings.. i think its Italian but am unsure!
thanks! exactly what i was looking for!!!
I can tell it's hot where you are. This was informative. I have 6 chicks I hatched out recently. 2 tuxedos but one is brown and one black. One all yellow but with a single black dot on its head. And three that I've been calling wild types because they're all varying shades of brown and black. They're a week old today and just starting to get their feathers.
Best and most informative video I've found!
The only time it leaked so bad is when I had a quail lay an egg in it. Lol. I have them
They're breathing like that because they're too hot deathly dehydrated 😢
All they have to do is stand on them and these will flood you out
thank you, im planning on only getting maybe like 3 baby chicks for now and i want to also spend time with them in my room anyway so im assuming this would be enough space for them as babies and then as they grow i'll be giving them more space of course
Can you give me your number please 🙏🙏❤️
Over all I like the minimalistic simplistic design, but I wish there wasn’t so much grain spillage.
They just need some more ventilation like a small computer fan so it can dry out otherwise the moisture will cause it to smell
I was planning on doing this but keeping the water container above the cage system so I could swap out the pump when it got warmer so that I didn’t need to use it to save power. I also wanted to make the pump in line also.
Thank you sir. Huge help.
They're a waste of money. They drain a bucket in minutes....
What do you do about the heat in the summer? I am in Texas and wanting to raise them in the garage.
Shade and airflow are key to beating the heat! Give them both of those and you'll be good 90% of the time.
What is the best food to buy for quail? Where can I buy it?
Thank you I just got 30 chicks and I have been watching other videos and not sure what size cage to build or should I build 4-5-or six of them you have helped me a lot thank you
I paid 7 dollars a piece for my coturnix quail. I love them
Why are all your adult birds so tatty and dirty looking? That poor females back missing feathers from being mated too often. My adult quails are glossy and shiny. Guess you're battery farming.
Such cruel cages. No hides, no dustbaths, earth, plants nothing
