Civivi? Really? 😅😅 I gotta go with the Work Pro for price and for the compact size. I don’t have a Milwaukee Tool one, but always see them at Home Depot and am interested. I guess I just like my old Irwin utility knife that I got over a decade ago.
Bought a Civivi Elementum button lock but the handle was to small. Handle was just not long enough to get my pinky finger wrapped around it. Went with a Civivi Praxis and love that knife. Been my go to EDC for the past two months.
aaron we have to talk about that haircut
A muti-tool has 4 major functions: Knife, screwdriver, pliers and wire cutter. The REV scores well on all these features whereas both the Sidekick and the Wingman scores zero for ability to cut wire. Given a choice between the REV and the other two, the REV is the only sensible choice.. The Wingman and Sidekick are serious contenders for "worst Leatherman model ever made" because their wire cutter cannot cut wire. The wire cutter on these 2 models looks like a wire cutter but that is where it ends . Neither Wingman can cut a wire to save its life. It is an absolute farce to call the flawed implementation on the Sidekick and Wingman a wire cutter. The rest of the tools are fine, but the wire cutter is a deal breaker. I am stunned that reviewers do not crucify Leatherman for not fixing a flawed design.
Vosteed = Girl Knives…😂😂😂. J/K. I would agree, I don’t like the small handles on those models either. They remind me a lot of what Hogue does with the Deka. I like the design, just upsize it. I like the Racoon design as well, just too small. Love the Pyrite design but all of these knives run on bearings and I guess I am a pivot snob. I just prefer washers. That limits a lot of my choices. I do think Spyderco has the market on the compression lock. I have not seen anyone who does it as well as them.
I run the $9 Milwaukee compact daily. It is gold. In my level 2 gear, I carry 10 replacement blades. Fully endorse
It is money for sure!
I wonder of those kershaw screws would work with benchmade clips…
Like and subed
Thanks for becoming a part of the GT crew!
No way would i trade my fiskar for a mora use it a lot an seldom have to sharpen it and life time waranty i would ll like to have both mora is a proven product ,very disappointed with estwing
Sorry guys,as a former "Sissi"lower officer of the Finnish Border Guards military Sissi. During my time in the military of Finland, there where not many of us that brought that Sissi Puukko. Most of us had handmade Finnish puukkos, even if this Puukkos was made for all us in the Sissi/long range special forces. This was during the early 1990:s when Soviet Union exists and disappeared. My Puukko was a handmade Sami Puukko with reindeer antlers and Birch wood. I got my knife from my ww2 veteran (Winter War/continuous War of Finland) grandfather, from my fathers side....i would love to have the knife that his best friend had. His best friend was found in Suomussalmi/Raate battle with 6 Soviet soldiers killed by him because he was out of ammunition. The Soviets tried to take him as a POW, but that was not what he wanted. He was killed with a Soviet bajonet on a top of a Mosin Nagant. My grandfathers unit found him after the battle was taken part....i dont know where to that Puukko of his ended up in. Im so disappointed that he did not let me have it. Puukkos have always been a part of my life. I always got a new Lapin Leuku from my relatives as a child in the 1970 and the 1980.....lite really was a kind of religion for us kids😮
You barely damaged that edge, what about if you actually damaged it?
Like you I have both stoves and I have a love hate relationship with the BRS, I find it unreliable in the wind and it uses approx 1 gram more fuel per boil. I boil my water for the meal and coffee separately. Also the durability of the BRS concerns me ( Parts of Australia are very remote and things need to be reliable).
Missing a saw
I carried this light for years but ultimately it started acting up and not working intermittently. This light is not serviceable from what I can see. You can't replace the LED with any parts available from streamlight. I'm thinking of giving another brand a try or something that is not disposable but I'm probably being overly demanding of its useful life. Case, clip, tailcap seem fine. I was early on this one got it when it released a 500 lumen version? I'd say 3 years and rotate out and throw in the spares drawer for the kids. With that said, nothing lasts forever and maybe it's the electronics.. no idea but this is a tank.. been in swimming pools, bath tubs. Always works when it works until one day (many years later) you scratch your head and something is off. Just get another one. This light set the bar very high for dependable. Perhaps I have been spoiled by it.
In my kit I don’t open enough packages to warrant a box cutter. However, I have thought about getting one
It's handy for way more than boxes. 💯 Worth it. $9 for the Milwaukee
@@ManInTheWoods76 yeah I was thinking about the Milwaukee 1505. Seems like the best for a good price.
I've been enjoying my O Knife!
That is legit

Glad you brought up the handle and measured your hand. I bought a schwarz confidante after watching your review, I"m selling it because while the knife is perfect the handle is very small. I measured my hand after seeing you video and my hand at the same spot is 3.75 inches across. I was thinking about getting an overland but now I"m not so sure, I don't think it has enough handle either. Any suggestions? I was thinking about this knife as well, but after you say the handle is small, forget it. I don't want to the larger knives, I need something with about 3.5 inches of blade but 4.5 to 4.75 inches or usable handle, I think I"m going to hold off on the schwarz stuff and maybe get the Buck Alpha in magnacut that looks about right. Feels like I"m looking for a needle in a haystack.
Man I am sorry to hear that. Then I would say both of TJ designs are too small for you. Some edc fixed blades with big handles that have reviewed are the buck alpha series, Boker Bronco mini, anv knives P200. I am doing a full run down video in the next few weeks on a ton of small fixed blades.
@@gideonstactical Thanks for the reply, I hold off and wait for that video before I do anything else.
Oh baby, only four inches?
I wish these companies would trash the micarta already. It is such a garbage medium for a grip/handle. I also wish that hey would offer all black models, not black steel and red, green, blue, white, etc. colors except black. I love the top liner lock. Push button lock are weak.
I really like my micarta pocket knives
Too many knife guys on KZread are saying BPS knives have a few flaws but are great.......I have watched hundreds of your videos and this is the first time I have questioned your bias.
Just trying to keep it real
@@gideonstactical Me too....and you just seem to be extra forgiving for BPS......am I wrong ?
Howdy Pardner! Nice roundup of blades! Saddle up and enjoy the weekend!
Thanks, you too!
I wear that Union 6" WP in my tropical climate country, it had been el Niño summer and that thing can get really hot at about 25-30°C but it's so comfortable and good looking at the same time lmao
That drives me crazy when the handles aren't long enough!
Totally
Camel back is not used much anymore. Sucks to fill and clean
As a lefty, the spyderco compression lock sucks for me, specially on a smaller knife like a para 3. I had the LW para 3 and re-sold it after two days, before it ended up stuck in my leg (or worse) after it slips out when closing. I do love the lefty para 2 I got at a later point, but that is the only lefty spyderco I'm aware of. Normal version of the para 2 is manageable, but still feels unsafe to close in the left hand. Something like this "top liner lock" with a button makes the compression lock way more acessible. I have the crossbar racoon so I don't feel I would be missing out on this one.
Great video,I enjoyed it!
Too bad it’s not made in Montana anymore
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Christ Died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that He was Buried, and that He Rose Again the Third day according to the scriptures. Accept Christ as Savior and BELIEVE in Him and what He did for YOU at the Cross. Your next breath is NOT guaranteed, and if you die in your sins without being saved, you will spend Eternity in Hell ( gnashing of teeth, darkness, pain, torment, burning, restlessness, etc. ) forever separated from God. make the Right Decision Today and call out to Jesus, prepare your soul for where it will spend Eternity in. Through Christ your sins are Forgiven, Fellowship with God The Father is Restored, and you’ll have Eternal Life ( Heaven ). Christ is Coming back for us so much SOONER than any of us Think!!!!!. There isn’t much time left, the Rapture of the Church is IMMINENT, and once it takes place The Great Tribulation will begin ( 7 years of Hell on Earth ). No amount of stockpiling supplies is gonna be enough to prepare you for what’s coming unless you’re Saved and in Christ. God Bless you all and I’ll see you in the clouds with Jesus, and at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb VERY VERY SOON!!!!.
With over 40 years fishing by boat from Montauk to Key West I've never seen a pocket knife on anybody. Every fishing boat has a Dexter Russell set of knives. I saw the filet knives, nothing a DR can't handle.
You are the first reviewer I’ve seen mentioning the raccoons bizarre ergonomics. My hand fits an elementum comfortably but the raccoon, my pinky hits the peak of that hump, I’m wish they just made it straight or not aggressive in its angles.
Where do u live is it idaho
Colorado
Oh ok it's beautiful I live in Eastern Washington right on the idaho border and your videos look alot like northern idaho and Eastern washington
I don´t get the purpose of these tests. Who uses a pocket knife as a hammer? If you are properly using a knife, you will never be applying pressure on the blade that would force the blade to close...
If i had to use my edc for self defense i dont want a button lock of any kind. I dont plan on needing to use my edc for self defense but i want to know that i could if i needed to
1. great reviews. 2. the pinky dangling thing disqualifies these knives from my consideration. Same problem with the Cold Steel short srk. Tried modifying the handle on that unit. 3. the blade length of each of the knives disqualifies them from my consideration. 4. I want my folders to have a 3.5 inch blade length, like the Spyderco Endura. Yes, I have a pile of old Spyderco Delicas, but they are basically a back up knife, not a daily carry type knife. 5. If I want a slip joint knife, I buy a slip joint knife, not a knife that purports to have a solid compression type lock and which is questionable.
Magnacut. 💀
“….the 3, the 4…… cut cardboard…..” Why? Why use nice knives for cardboard when a 5 dollar box cutter will do it better. You are paying a lot for a g3/g4 to make your task even harder. I’ll never understand these people.
Civivi Qubit is number one budget edc button lock. Conspirator for full size, but add u locked composite scale to go next level!
I have a Cubit with green aluminum scales and a "Damascus " blade. Really beautiful knife.
Axis/cross bar locks are way overrated. If they aren't machined correctly, they will fail just like any other lock failing to do its one job.🧐🤣
what dumb and dumber statements test the knife by cutting off your thumb off
Or the dumbest
Great review as always man. I LOVE my cross-bar lock Raccoon. I wish the pinky area of the handle didn't have that little cut and was a little longer for my XL hands but I saw a rep talking about a larger version and otherwise it's an amazing knife that's one of the few non-Spyderco knives I carry regularly (PS, I'm carrying my K390 Stretch 2 right now and LOVE it... I just wish they'd make a Shaman in K390 that'd be a grail-knife for me). I own 2 Raccoons, both cross-bar locks and keep one on my bino-pack when I'm out hunting/hiking and I've dressed a several deer with it. I've been looking hard at the new "not-a-compression-lock" model but have held off until now. Glad to see it pass the test so maybe I'll go grab one once the one I want comes into stock. If you haven't seen it check out the Kansept Nesstreet Button-lock. Just got one in the mail and it's a great folding Nessmuk of sorts. really cool new knife (3.5' blade in 14C28N and Micarta scales, all the things I love in a knife).
Great video as usual. I love the comparisons!
What’s that fixed blade bottom left corner?
White River Ursus
EDIT: It's an Ursus Cub. he's got a video on it from a few days ago. Cheers.
The cub will fix all your lock problems!
There’s just no reason for the mini to be $56 more than the Manix 2 LW in magnacut or $40-$50 than the Ritter RSK in magnacut. Especially since both of those knives have a better heat treat and the Ritter has far more premium handle scales. Benchmade has just lost their mind on pricing
I don’t like choils. If the handle is made right the choil isn’t needed.
My new favorite lock, no joke
Wow! You like it that much?
I have had this knife for two weeks and the rubber handle it starting to peel and come apart not worth sending back to Gerber probably gonna just wrap it with paracord. I feel like the handle should have be made of a more durable material. Thanks for all the great reviews!
My button lock Civivi Elementum has the same style of button lock. It failed at a spine wack test.
This Heist would’ve been an easy buy for me if they would’ve kept the bronze washers
Thanksks for sharing this info
