My nephew is 12 years old and I took him to get a knife, I was gonna buy him a benchmade bugout, but he wanted this one instead, lol I was not gonna argue he doesn't understand the finer points of why things are expensive and some are not, but he absolutely loves this knife and I agree for the price I was shocked how good it is.

I would not be even remotely surprised to find out this knife is made in the same factory as Ganzo. This looks a lot like one of the knives they make that I’ve seen on Amazon. I love my ganzo PM2 copy so much. The thing is wicked looking for 25 bucks.

Good to see Schrade still in the game. If they made this knife in an XL version - say with a 3.5 to 3.8 inch blade in 14C28N steel for 60 to 80 bucks I'd be all in.

Dunno, looked at Schrade website. Did not see too many folders that I loved. Like the AUS 8 and 10 steel though. Fixed blade options were a little more compelling, had good prices for AUS 10 fixed blade stuff. I especially liked the fixed Exertion and Wolverine except for the hollow grind !!! Flat or Sabre would be better overall.

Talked with this guy who was super knowledgeable about knives from the 40s and 50s, he said there were five and dime stores with trays by the cashier filled with schrade, imperial and Camillus little jack knives, back when they were American made mostly consistent of C75 steel, super tough and simple carbon steel, readily available and easy to machine. Everyone had a little jack in their pocker. Now all of those companies went PRC, damn shame. Rant aside I'm glad that knife there is a surprise for ya 🎉

  • @bdcochran01

My perspective, base only upon my life experience. 1. a knife is simply a tool and when you allocate your money based upon the most typical situation you will face. Otherwise, a knife warranty which requires keeping a record and sending the knife somewhere, the type of steel, the expected life of the knife, the ease of sharpening, the blade configuration are meaningless. I had this brought home to me when I was requested to supply a Marine unit in the first gulf war with a pocket knife. They wanted a new product to me, a Spyderco Endura. The knife was used to puncture 50 gallon oil drums and other tasks that were not appropriate and would be thrown away when worn down to a nub. They could get more, didn't care about the appearance of the knife. 2. I wanted a knife available to me where ever in the US I would be and if it wasn't at home, it would be with relatives who owned a car. So, a lot of the Big 5, low end, knives like Smith and Wesson border guard (a knife not made by that name and not used at the US border, but a rugged knife for an emergency) went to the relatives for their cars. 3. I wanted a good, one defensive encounter knife that could be used to slice an apple or make a sandwich. So for carry knives, I sent Kershaw speedsafe knives, some engraved. The usual would be a 3615 unit. 4. I read the articles about the best steel, the best sharpener, the best micarta handle. Ok. I have some of the world's "best" fixed blade and folders sitting next to my computer. ADVICE follows: If I were starting out in knives, instead of spending $450 or more for a "special forces" knife when you have no skills, buy 10 $10 Mora basic knives and spend the remaining $350 on lessons with knives and parts to modify and improve the carry and versatility of the basic sheath. Then you are much better prepared than the guy who bought the latest safe queen.

My thinking is buy the clone first to see if you like how the knife feels and handles and if you do then buy the actual version with all the upgrades that you don’t get in the budget clone.

They said they would replace it then simply ignored all my messages when they found out I lived outside the US. No replacement blade, no refund, no nothing. Absolute JOKE of a company.
