I never knew that up-lamps are called tourchers. I have alwats had att least one. I use them all the time for soft- and/or mood lighting. The last tourcher I bought a Ikea for $9. That was 2-3 years ago.

I got a grey sofa because the overstuffed brown (boring) one sucked up way too much space. I do like cottage core, but with a minimalist blend. My house is a cape and I hate the cape decorations because we live nowhere near the beach. It feels fake. I'll check out English country. I hate floral decorations. I hope Cornelius is getting extra love since the death of his brothers. Cornelius sits like my dog...when she feels like it.

Any ideas on how to choose a style that fits your home? Like you too said, it doesn't make sense to me to go for a farmhouse or cabin style when your house is just in a normal town, not anywhere near the countrsyside or the woods. Also, I don't want to choose only one style, that would feel too much like a "theme park", too. But if you mix everything you like it might get too eclectic. I don't know where to start. 😂

When we first bought our house, we had an offer in on a decently updated 1960’s colonial. But our RE agent thought it would be a good idea to look at other homes just in case. We looked at another home around the same age/price (though this was a 1960’s ranch), and it was grey EVERYTHING. It felt cheap, and who decided that grey flooring masquerading as wood were a good idea? At the end of the day, I’d love to renovate my pastel pink bathroom, but I love my original wood flooring, and the “outdated” granite countertops are a huge step up from our previous apartments that we paid more in rent every month lol And, it’s totally possible to design around and “modernize” what may be considered outdated!
. I said I couldn’t go through another loss, but Cornelius is such a love bug, he makes me want to chance it again.
Get two so they can have a friend and if puppies grow up together. They have a fuller life that way in my opinion.

I can’t stand seeing another modern farmhouse or organic modern. Too overdone.
I'd love more detailed videos that might show us how to make certain updates that you mentioned. Ex: how we can update a mcmansion to be a new colonial? What pieces to look for, what paint colors work, how to make small updates for big impact? Love your style and insights!

I thought gray was out a while ago. I was looking at house listings locally just for giggles. And the minute one popped up with gray interior I just was repulsed. It does look so incredibly outdated. It looks like a cheap flip house. It’s the gray flooring. That is the absolute worst. Instant turn off for me anyway.

First off hugs to Cornelius as he is adorable 🥰 I'm so glad Farmhouse is on the way out like Tuscan. If I see one more barn door or farmhouse sink or ship lap I will scream! I never got the chalet style vibe as I live on an island but i do appreciate. Also I can't deal with cottage decor as I grew up in a bedroom that looked like a showroom at Laura Ashley. To me anything cottage style looks grandma home unless you like in the Cotswold region of England. 1. If you choose to get more babies, I can’t wait to meet them. I love that you choose rescues and give them the best lives ever. You and your husband are saints. 2. I love design and have a good eye. I recently redid my childhood home after my dad died and I inherited it. An actual farmhouse in the middle of cornfields in Indiana (but no word signs). So, not saying I can’t use advise, but I kinda want to book time with you to talk design and hang out because you’re awesome and I want to pretend that we’re friends IRL. That weird?

If you like Boucle and can handle its delicacy don’t deprive yourself just because it isn’t currently the most popular trend. Trends come and go. What you like is more important than what’s on trend unless one plans on continually buying and replacing.
I hate blonde 1950’s or late 50’s it feels like a bad childhood . I just want furniture that had class. Real wood made in USA with no press board… etc.
I just spent nearly 2k for a pair of new nightstands with drawers. Came last week. Cheaply made. The finish is shoddy. One has a long crack down the center and the other has something wrong with the bottom drawer where it will only open about 3". Of course, I immediately contacted them and have yet to hear back what they plan on doing. I'd buy a pair of used nightstands, that are a better quality, but when I think about what could have been stored in them - ummm, no. 😲
I just got home from my vacation and this is first video since being away from technology. I’ll go back to see any other videos I may have watched.
