    Why do I spend 1 hour and 40 minutes in the gym? Because everyone and their cousin is at the gym and I have to wait for them to finish and get off of the equipment

    I train so intensely that I need at least two full minutes for my heart rate to come down and I already have a VO2 max in the 50s.

    I set a timer for myself at the gym for about an hour and take a 1 -130 minute break in between sets

    Hey Jonni, I generally rest for 90 second but by 3rd set probably 120. Then move on to next exercise. Spend 60 to 90 minutes in gym. Doing your Ebook intermediate section. Works for me, have added 6kg of muscle in last 12 months & I'm 65 in November. Loving the journey. Cheers

    Great video. I actually have really concentrated on my timing per rep per Jonni advice, and the pump is real. Now, with this video, I realize I was taking too short break between sets (hypertrophy training, 40 seconds) I thought I needed to keep the lactic acid built up and circuit my workouts. Thanks Jonni you u literally saved my workouts. I didn’t know I was doing it wrong.

    Hi Jonni, I bench 225 working sets. My current routine is: Set 1: 8 reps (2 RIR) 3-4 min rest Set 2: 8 reps (2 RIR) 4-5 min rest Set 3: 8 reps (1 RIR) 5-6 min rest Set 4: 8 reps (0-1 RIR) If I rest 2-3 min per Set it will be: Set 1: 8 reps (2 RIR) Set 2: 7/8 reps (0-1 RIR) Set 3: 6 reps (0 RIR) Set 4: 4/5 reps (0 RIR) Which would be better (assuming time is not a factor), considering the volume achieved is more for the 1st routine?

    I hate resting tbh, so usually I superset 2 exercises for different muscle groups so I rest about 90 seconds between each exercise and the muscle itself has double rest. But on leg days, I HAVE to rest longer because I'm absolutely crushed after each set😂

    I leave 60 seconds on compounds, and 30 seconds on everything else. Mainly because my time in the gym atm is very limited. I have to get in and out quickly

    How much rest time between exercises?

  • @vs1146
    @vs1146Ай бұрын

    I only rest 3 minutes or longer when I do squats and deadlifts. But that's because I don't do those exercises for anything other than strength.

    Thank you Jonni! This is great information. For me, it’s not so much the rest times that keep me in the gym for a long time say 2 hours, but rather the number of exercises I’m doing. For example on my back day, I’m doing 9 exercises and 4 sets per exercise. I’m probably doing too many exercises, but it’s hard to choose which ones to do and also work each back muscle during the workout. Another example is my chest day where I also like to work my triceps on that day. So I will usually do 5 chest exercises and 4 tricep exercises at 4 sets per exercise. Also, I’m training for hypertrophy. Do you or does anyone have any advice for me to keep the workout time to around an hour, but still have a proper number of exercises to properly work the muscles?

    First of all you dont need that many exercises in 1 session. If your doing 9 back exercises in 1 workout thrn your probaly doing exercises that target the same part of the back . All you need is 1 upper back movement 1 lat movement a rear delt movement and maybe a trap movement in your workout back biceps workout. Same with chest pick 1 incline press 1 flat press and any fly variation.
