You have a great selection of books lined up for June! I hope the buddy reads and your reading are going well. My book group read The Henna Artist at the end of last year and loved it and in fact, they have just decided that we’re going to read the 2nd in the series over the summer! 😊📚

Thank you so much. My reading is going well so far but I think I might have over committed with all the books. Too many books and not enough time 😆 I am so glad to hear you all enjoyed The Henna Artist. I have only just started listening to it but I think I am going to enjoy it.

Thank you 😀I'm looking forward to a varied reading month. It's going quite well so far. But I think I might have over committed myself this month a bit. Too many books and not enough time 😆

Fruit of the Drunken Tree and your Pride Month picks all look so good! I cannot wait to hear your thoughts about Dorian Gray as I finished it recently ^_^ And I have never heard of Windrush Day, so thank you for sharing!

I am hoping to start Dorian Gray this weekend and Fruit of the Drunken Tree. I'm looking forward to very different reads. The Windrush Scandal in the UK was a terrible ordeal for the people affected and is still affecting many of the Windrush generation and their families.

I've finished Young Mungo. I thought the writing was excellent but there were some difficult bits to read and some emotional issues. Really looking forward to our buddy read too 😀

Fruit Of The Drunken Tree is an amazing book. I don't even like historical fiction but it was amazing. Dorian Grey is a good classic. I hope you have a good reading month and a happy pride.

I have finished Young Mungo. I can definitely see what you mean about hard hitting and difficult content. I really appreciated the writing style and the Scots dialect but it wasn't a book I could enjoy.

I've watched quite a few of your videos since discovering your channel (via a recommendation from Emily at Novelle Novels) but I don't think I've ever seen you quite so enthusiastic about a monthly TBR before. You must have great expectations (oops!) of your choices and I do hope they fulfill those expectations. 'Young Mungo' has definitely been getting rave reviews as a worthy follow-up to 'Shuggie Bain' and I feel as if I really should try one of them soon. I guess I could say that 'The Picture Of Dorian Gray' has been on my TBR list ever since I acquired the book in the early 1970s (although I don't think TBR lists were a thing back then) and perhaps, after letting it mature like a good wine for half a century, it's about time I finally uncorked it? For now, I've kicked off the month with 'The Fortnight In September' by R C Sherriff and I also intend to add a classic to my June list (but which one? ... decisions, decisions). Thanks for the video - you always come up with some unusual and interesting choices, as well as well-known titles. All the best, Brian.

Thanks Brian. I am feeling enthusiastic about my reading for June. Although I think I might have overcommitted a bit. I have finished Young Mungo. It addresses some important themes and it's good to hear working class voices in literature more but it has some hard hitting and difficult content. I really appreciated the writing style and the Scots dialect but it wasn't a book I could enjoy. I'm intrigued by The Picture of Dorian Gray. I hope you are enjoying The Fortnight in September and have found a good classic for the month. Take Care

Ooh nice! I also buddy read The Picture of Dorian Gray, it was fun to talk about it! What a nice variety of books for Pride month, I'll have to remember to make a special effort to pick up some books by LGBTQ+ authors this month! Beyond the Gender Binary sounds really interesting. What a busy month for you with the different reads, This Lovely City sounds like itcould be a lovely one! Enjoy your reading month :)

It's good to hear you enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray. I am hoping to start that this weekend. Yes a very busy reading month. There is so many books I want to read but I think I have too many this month 😆 I have finished This Lovely City. It wasn't quite what I expected but it definitely captured some themes around Windrush era.

I am also planning to read To Sir With Love this month. I’ve seen the film so many times (though not for a long time now it must be said! 😅) and I thought it was about time to actually read the book! 😅 So I will be interested to hear what you make of it and how it compares to my reading experience. I’m also hoping to read Troll: A Lovr Story as part of the LGBTQ+ in Translation group (I’ve read the other two books that were suggested for this ‘round’). If you are looking for more Windrush-related fiction to read , I highly recommend The Lonely Londoners by Sam Selvon if you haven’t read it. It’s a favourite of mine. 😊 Happy Reading. 🦊📚🤓

Hello Foxed Folios 😀 I've finished To Sir With Love now. I thought it was an good read and interesting. I have never actually seen the film so I am hoping to watch it at some point now I have read the book. I haven't started the Troll book yet but hoping too soon. I'm intrigued after that blurb. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I have added it to my list. Much appreciated. Small Island by Andrea Levy was a very good book exploring the Windrush generation era that I read quite a few years ago too.

I've finished To Sir With Love now. I thought it was an good read and interesting. I have not seen that film either so I am hoping to watch it at some point now I have read the book.
