FYI! I don't have grease or any other product in my hair in this video. The hair may stretch out further if wet or flat ironed.
Also, you will notice a white coating in the crown and temple area of my hair. The coating is sebum that I dragged from my scalp to my hair when water rinsing. I'm aware that it's there, and will speak about soon!

Back in the day my mom use to scratch my scalp with a comb then wash it. I had some of the thickest longest hair. I started doing it about a year ago and I can really see the volume and length as I did in my youth. Great video.

Mine did too. Scratching the scalp was a "thing" back in the day.

I followed your directions in rinsing in hot water and have been doing so for about a month now. When I scratched my scalp with my nails, I did not get any sebum! I really don't think I produce any:( BUT.....your tip about wrapping your hair around the 'crown' has really started to make a difference! It's so very fragile and thin but now that I am wrapping my twist around it, it is beginning to look a little thicker and I'm so happy! I know, I know, patience is key:)

Yes, patience is key! If you don’t produce a lot of sebum, THAT’’S Awesome!!! 😂 one less thing to worry about. When the hair grows from the follicle it’s coated with sebum. We all just produce different amounts.

My hair generally grows fast and it's a mixture of type 3 and 4. The temples of my hair are entirely type 3. They grow incredibly faster than the rest of my hair.

FUN FACT: African decedents have the highest quality of sebum. I watched the fingernail video and my sebum looks exactly like that if I do not wash well. It’s amazing to me that it’s like beeswax. It is truly a barrier. One time i tried to comb my hair before washing and my hair was breaking off. No water/product could penetrate pass the sebum. Also, my edges in the front have the most buildup and are veryyy short and I’m wondering if it is just breaking or stunted because I need to focus on cleaning it more 🤔 good info as always 💜

Hi! Thank you for this comment! I’ve always wondered why others don’t say they experience the same when I mention it in the videos. 🤔 My friends and family say they experience the same. 🤷‍♀️ I agree with EVERYTHING you’ve said. And my edges do too! I literally have to wash them everyday or every other day. And yes, it is a barrier! If the body produces it and costs the hair strands before protruding the scalp, it makes me think 🤔 should we really be focused on moisturizing the strand from a cellular level (meaning internally.. drinking lots of water and eating lots of watery fruits and vegetables). I can go on and on bout my thoughts regarding the sebum!😀 I’m going to do a video to show my results of prolonging washing my edges. Thanks again for the comment!💕

You are funny! Enjoy your videos...so thankful for hair grease. I have grey hair around my edges/temples it is fragile hair. I twist my edges separately & wear it that way when I wear my hair out plus it looks neat especially with the grey...it looks wirey & strong buy fragile.

Hello miss lady I'm a new subscriber and I love your videos your detangling techniques save mine and my 3 daughters hair mines is bra length but should be longer and it love love loves the water I would like to start washing it every 2 to 3 day but my hair has to stay stretched so I don't get those evil lil fairy knots that give me breakage. Do you have any advice for safely stretching the hair to avoid those lil annoying things ? Is it okay that I detangle and set with the grease and blow dry my hair every 2 to 3 days on low heat for the stretch? Or will the grease weigh down my hair and help stretch it out ? Please help thank you

I straightened my hair for my birthday almost a month ago after 1 year and 6 months using no heat. Normally when I straighten my scalp doesn’t get oily easily but this time it did, when I’m curly I know I produce a lot of sebum but I don’t feel that my hair and scalp is oily and I actually oil my scalp also everyday. When I straightened it I didn’t add any extra serum on top of it because my hair stylist already did that and it would weigh it down, my scalp after 1 week was never oily but this time it was ridiculous. I produce to much sebum, I tried going 2 weeks with my hair like that and each day it got oilier.

I will have to do the sebum test. I don't know how much sebum my hair produces. I do have seborreha dermatitis (don't know how to spell). It is controlled with prescription or over the counter scalp treatments. I usually use a shampoo scalp brush and always felt that aided in the cleansing of my scalp. I have started to follow some of your tips. I have been under a lot of stress and nursing back a bald spot in the back of my head. Plus, I did a DIY trim with dull scissors and caused more problems. Just all around MESS!!!!😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 One tip I am currently following is putting grease on my ends, actually my whole head, before washing. I don't go ham, though. Also, my next step to incorporate is washing every 3 to 4 days. I used to wash my hair that often & not sure why I stopped because my hair did seem to respond better. I'm back to washing my hair in the sink, too. Thanks for the video.😄😄😄😄😄 Hope I am able to start maintaining some length cuz I am so frustrated with my 4C.

Hello ma am. My daughter was born with a scxalp full of hair. She's ten months now, her front hairline started receedig at nine months, I just started a routine of messaging her scalp daily with Jamaican castor oil. Do you think this will help grow back her edges?

Hello! How often do you wash her hair? What products do you use? What's her go-to hairstyle?

  • @ghoniyyahomolola30

I wash her hair every two weeks. I only wash it with black soap I made with honey, turmeric, oil. Then after washing I moisturize with coconut oil and seal with Shea butter. I part the hair into small sections and use those small hair rubber bands to hold. I dont make them tight. This has been her routine since 5months, the hair flourish well until now, she has bald spots at the front. So I started Jamaican castor oil routine daily on her part hair. Disclaimer: although she didn't wash her hair at nine month so I didn't oil either because I was sick. Then ten months, breakage and baldness began, but I don't know the cause

Yes, I don't see why not. You will have to find the right grease for your hair. A light/thin grease might work.
