Hey Y'all! In this video, I share my "secret" to continuously grow my hair fast and thick! I am continuously asked about my process, techniques, and products. I've even been accused of keeping secrets and holding back in my videos....LOL! If I recall correctly, I briefly mention the product and process in my "How To Grow 1 Inch of Hair In 7 days - NO INVERSION METHOD!!" video. I've left the link for that video below.

This is great advice . I don’t know why I keep trying new stuff . When I was 19 years old still living at home I’d use my brothers head and shoulders shampoo , olive oil , grease and washed my hair dang near everyday it was growing fast . Now I can barely grow it pass my neck 😢 I’m going back to what worked .

I’ve been washing my hair every 3 days or so for about 3 weeks now and I see a physical AND mental difference. My hair definitely breaks less and I have a microscope to look at my scalp and I see new hairs growing all over the place! Mentally I am falling even more in love with my natural hair. I’m excited for wash day. As soon as I feel an itch! Wash day! I’m also using head and shoulders and my scalp is thanking me. I just started using Silk Elements products this week and my hair feels stronger. Thank you MM!!

May I offer u advice? Don't allow anyone to touch ur hair. If they don't believe its real you don't have to prove otherwise. What if Sharon just rubbed blistex on her lips after u just washed ur hair. What if Kevin just finished lunch at BBQs and only wiped the BBQ sauce off with a napkin? I travel to work via NY subways. I see people bite their fingernails then hold on the pole. When the unfortunate people ask for change I hand them a dollar bcuz the dirt is visible on their hands. I've used scenarios that may not occur in Dallas but germs are everywhere.

I used to wash my hair daily. I was keeping it cut close to my skalp though. I will start the Head and Shoulders routine soon though. I will include the moisturizing shampoo as well ! I was every two weeks right now just because I don't want the hassle of fighting my 4C type, natural hair. My hair has grown to my shoulders in two years since I keep it moisturized and seperate the tangles before washing.I use absolutely no heat except sitting under the hair dryer for deep conditioning. I am learning more each time I watch your videos and the other natural hair vids. Thanks for all you do ! You have taught me alot. I have seen two of your videos so far. I am so glad that you have a knowledgeable and intelligent way of explaining why you do what you do. That helps me to recieve the wisdom. I am accepting this challenge! I'm going to wash every 3 days for 1 year. I already know that by day 4 it's a wrap as far as my scalp goes and I'd like to catch it before that point. I'm 3 washes in and my scalp already feels light like it can breathe. I'm kicking myself though because I was going through old emails and found some from back in 2008 where I was emailing back and forward with a celebrity hairstylist Victor Sabino. At the time I was emailing him I don't believe he was styling celebrities but he still has his salon in Scottsdale, AZ. Anyway in one of his emails he said that me with my 4b afro hair should be shampooing every 2-3 days (EXACTLY what MM is saying). At the time and pretty much until recently I thought he was nuts. He's a white guy so I'm thinking he clearly doesn't know OUR hair but he assured me he had clients with afro textured hair and that it absolutely works. I never tried it.😣 Anyway I was emailing him so much because he has a product called Sabino Moisture Block. It's just a mix of 2 silicones but high quality silicones with a specific ratio. He told me to shampoo condition and just use the moisture block. It will seal in the moisture until the next shampoo, which I find that it absolutely does IF I am shampooing the 2-3 days. It's pretty much my grease, sealing in essential moisture and blocking out excess to help with frizz. He told me I would save so much money because all I needed were those 3 products (any shampoo/conditioner fit for my hair and the moisture block) and it could also be used as a heat protectant because it's silicones. If only I would've listened to him back in 2008 I would've saved so much money and had hair to my butt! I just couldn't keep it simple. This video just reminded me that I pretty much got this same advice back in 2008 and I didn't listen but I am now. I use Keracare Professionals shampoo and conditioner then seal with the moisture block. I use my Revair on low to get some stretch and I'm done. Hair and scalp feeling good so far and it's so nice to walk around with a nice, fresh smelling head all the time now. I'm washing my hair before it starts to smell stale now.

@Betty V. Laurent Yep, still doing it and it still works! I'm losing very little hair on wash day. My hair is unbelievably soft! My strands are stronger and don't tangle as bad as it used to. Hair getting thicker and longer. My scalp is also clear, not a ton of flakes. When I part my hair now it looks healthy and not all dried out and crusty and I don't even use head and shoulders. Get this, I was in Sephora yesterday and I was talking to the cashier, who was a black lady, about how much I love the brand Kerastase (I was buying one of their shampoos and conditioners). She looks up at my hair and says your hair looks healthy. At first I thought oh she's just trying to sell me product but I was already in the process of paying when she said it!😂 I just never had anyone tell me this before. I immediately thought: FREQUENT WASHING! This is definitely not a trend/fad for me. I get consistent results every single time. Also, I do still use the product mentioned in my original post above instead of grease. Just preference. I am able to smell my shampoo and conditioner until next wash with the serum. I have nothing against grease at all. I use conditioner after each wash as well. I shampoo, condition, and serum. No more leave ins, moisturizers, sprays, oils, etc. Sorry took so long to respond. I don't get alerts I just come back to her videos every so often to see how others are getting along.

Another great video! This is good information. I remember years ago, my son was having a scalp issue. His doctor recommended a shampoo called Nizoral (or something like that). Girl, that scalp issue cleared in 1 shampoo! There was so much shampoo left that I started using it. My hair grew like crazy. Some time back there were naturals on YT using yeast infection cream on their scalps and experiencing hair growth. I think this was due to an unknown fungus on the scalp. So products with ingredients to address those issues will clear, clean and help heal the scalp. Your 1 year growth is gorgeous. Your hair is thick and healthy. Thanks again for sharing.

Hello georgiapeach310! Yes, I've seen a few of those videos and also know someone who applied the yeast infection cream to her scalp. She told me that her was thicker than it had ever been. I know this one lady that swore up and down that she was born with thin hair. She told me she washed her hair like every 2 to 3 months. And of course I cringed when she told me that... lol I convinced her to start washing her hair with the Head & Shoulders every 2 to 3 days and then follow with a moisturizing shampoo. Sure enough she started experiencing thickness, fast growth, and the texture of her hair changed completely. Always good to hear from you! :) Thanks for your comment!

Just double checking, can you tell me when you go on to round two, have you already rinsed out the shampoo or are you just applying again? So then do you wash three times in one wash? Thanks.

I use Aryuvedic methods to cleanse my hair, as I cannot use commercial products anymore. I rinse daily or every two days and my hair thrives. I train 4-5 days a week so I do need to cleanse hair more frequently or the salt would dry out my hair and scalp. Head & Shoulders works great for my daughters tailbone length hair. She has no more flakes and her hair stays moisturized.

Good information. It's funny because I actually bought the head and shoulders 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and when I saw the brand in this video I had to check it out. I get dry itchy and flaky scalp very easily, that's why I liked to wash my hair at least weekly but I was nervous it was drying out my hair. I know by the 4th day my scalp usually start to get irritated, esp if I put certain oils on it. I would love to wash my hair every 4-5 days if possible but I have to find a way to make sure my hair doesn't dry out or break when I wash it due to detangling/manipulation.

Hello Shaneka Gregory! The H & S shampoo is for your "scalp", not your hair. As I mentioned in the video, I put the shampoo in that applicator bottle so that I'm able to apply directly to my scalp. If you use it, always, always, always follow with a moisturizing shampoo from the root to the tip of the hair strand. If you are concerned about applying too much shampoo to your hair, keep in mind that you are ONLY applying shampoo to your hair strands once when you shampoo with the moisturizing shampoo. Let me know if this is helpful. Thanks for your comment!

I agree with washing your hair every 3 days. If I get to 4 or 5 days my scalp is really irritated. OMG.. head and shoulders is how I grew my hair after the big chop as well as the little girls in my life. The girls had weaved braids and their hair came out. I told their grandma to let me do their hair only. I used Head and shoulders on their scalp washed their hair every week and kept their hair and scalp moisturized. it grew so fast.

Hi Camnicole Quarm! Thanks for the compliment! I use the moisturizing shampoo right after rinsing out the H&S. I make sure to lather my hair really good with the moisturizing shampoo from roots to tips. When using the H&S shampoo, you may notice your roots poof and feel super thick; that's the hair reacting to the chemicals in the shampoo. So be sure to lather your hair REALLY good with the moisturizing shampoo to avoid breakage. Let me know if this is helpful. Thanks for your comment!

Great video, and information shared. Its amazing how far we have come with consumerism from when I was growing up. All I wanted was to get a bottle of Head & Shoulders. Something I thought would be a simple task. But like everything else, the brand has expanded and I stand in front of at least 12-15 different formulas for this brand including one for curly and coily hair, with blends like ACV, argan oil, coconut oil, tea tree oil etc. I finally found the original, and walked away a little feeling some kind of way.

Hello Sherry Robinson! Thanks for the compliment! I rinse or shampoo my hair every 2 to 3 days. I use the Head & Shoulder shampoo every 2 to 3 days "2 weeks" prior to menstruation because of the increase sebum production. I haven't always waited until 2 weeks prior. I started waiting until 2 weeks based on my research for my hair growth cycle. Please see my video MY NATURAL HAIR GROWS "?" INCH(ES) DURING OVULATION!! **FEMALE HAIR GROWTH TRIGGERS** - 2017 kzread.info/dash/bejne/lniKz8Ssk6jehtY.html for additional details. I rinse my hair with only hot water every 2 to 3 days for the next two weeks following menstruation due to the low sebum production. I keep my hair in a style (twist) that allows me to use minimum products (mainly oil or an oil based deep conditioner) and low manipulation (re-twisting). I mainly use oil or the oil based deep conditioner (ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner) because the hot water itself can rinse off most of the oil and allow me to reapply more oil without causing build-up. If I so happen to feel that my ends are dry due to build-up or because I did style my hair using products, I use a sulfate-free shampoo to cleanse the hair. I also exfoliate my scalp with baking soda the last week of this timeframe to get rid of the dry and flaky skin. The dry and flaky skin is due to hormones. I am going to post a video soon to further explain and show how I know when it's time to exfoliate. Let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks for your comment!

Saturated with water, applying ORS, and Hollywood Beauty olive oil, and then air drying is perfect. You can email me if you need additional assistance. Thanks for your comment! Hello KF! Great questions! With my natural hair, I keep my hair in about 12 twist most of the time and wear a scarf with the knot at the top of my head. I wrap my hair in a silk scarf to protect my hair before wrapping my hair with the cotton scarf. Every so often I will wear my hair in an afro or a halo braid. In regards to buildup on my strands, I shampoo my strands with the moisturizing shampoo once. No I don't experience dryness because I'm only shampooing my strands once and the grease protects my hair from the shampoo. Be sure to check out my video, Sulfate Shampoo? The "BEST" Product To Pre-Poo Natural Hair & Save Your Ends!! 2017 kzread.info/dash/bejne/eXV_qcONgc66ibQ.html, that shows my process. And no, I don't use conditioner on my hair or my daughters' hair. I try deep condition after every wash; however, if I don't have enough time to deep condition, I apply grease to my hair while it's wet to condition the hair, twist it up, and keep a moving. I use the Silk Element Mega Silk Moisturizing Treatment to deep condition. That product is dabomb.com! I don't even have to comb my hair afterwards. I'm going to do a full day wash routine soon. Hope my response is helpful. Thanks for your comment!

Hello i3abikay! I haven't used 22nd Century's shampoo bar in a while on my hair, but I still use it for my daughter's hair. In regards to my hair, I was having a hard time including it into my regimen whenever I wanted to flat iron/style my hair. To me, the shampoo bar is good if you don't plan to do a lot of styling or use additional products; more so, just wash with the shampoo bar, condition hair with oil, and twist or braid the hair. That regimen works well for my daughter because I keep her hair in the ponytails. It's 100% a great shampoo bar. I'm going to do a follow-up video soon to provide a few extra details. Thanks for your comment!

Would a hair oil or conditioner work as a substitute for a moisturizing shampoo?

  • @mrs.mississippi5035

    @mrs.mississippi5035

    6 жыл бұрын

Hello Naomi Barnes! I never apply the Head & Shoulders shampoo to my hair strands (the length) because it's VERY stripping. Head and Shoulders is for the scalp. I apply the moisturizing shampoo to my hair strands one time to actually cleanse the hair strands. If you apply the Head & Shoulders to your hair strand (the length), you may experience a lot of tangles, dryness, and TIGHTLY coiled hair, which of course will lead to breakage. A conditioner or hair oil would be useless if I applied to my hair after using H & S shampoo to my strands. As I am applying the oil or conditioner to my hair, my hair would break off. But it all depends on whether or not you have thick or thin strands. Most black people have thin strands. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for your comment!

Lady, I really enjoy your videos, you are the one who turned me on to 22ndcentury natural woman products and I have not looked back since then. All I can say is wow, you have a beautiful head of hair. If washing every two to three days work for you continue with it. I wash weekly, but in the middle of the week I moisturize my scalp as well as my hair. To moisturize my scalp I put aloe vera juice, water, and a little peppermint oil in my spray bottle, I spray my scalp and massage this in. After that, I spray my hair with warm water, use my moisturizer, seal with Jamaican black castor oil, twist and set my hair for a twist the next day. I have a very itchy scalp and this aloe/water mixture is the only thing that works for me, believe me I have tried everything but this is the only thing that gives relief. And yes, you are correct, after about two to three days after I wash my hair I feel that first itch and I know that my scalp need to be moisturized; so I apply my aloe/water mixture to my scalp, moisturize my hair and there is not itching for about another three days. But by then it is my hair washing day and I start the process all over. However, I have a question, how do you get anything done by washing your hair so frequently? I wash frequently only when I do wash and go's in the summer months but not all year around.

Hello LadyJacqueline07! I'm able to get a lot done because I schedule it around work and kids. For example, I get off work about 4 hours before picking up my kids from after school care. So on my wash day, I rush home to wash and apply my deep conditioner before picking them up. I keep the deep conditioner in my hair until they go to sleep. Sometimes I'll wait until they go to sleep and do the entire process, but I'm up until about 2:00 - 3:00 am. LOL! But keep in mind, I have been doing this for abouty 25 years. Because I have been doing it for so long, it comes natural and is a necessity. Most importantly, I just really love taking care of my hair. Thanks for your comment!

Hello LadyJacqueline07! I "never" use the regular conditioner on my hair because I don't feel that it's necessary for natural hair. If your hair is chemically treated in some kind of way, then yes, please use the conditioner. I mostly deep condition after every wash. I use the Silk Element MegaSilk Moisturizing Treatment after shampooing my hair with the Silk Elements shampoo. OMG, it's such a great product. I don't have to comb my hair afterwards because it melts away the tangles. Other times I will apply grease after I shampoo my hair while it's wet. I use the grease to condition and soften my hair. The grease does wonders also; instant softeness and minimum to no breakage. The regular conditioner is not needed.... trust me! I will do a video to show all three process. Let me know if this is helpful. Thanks for your comment.

I have a question. I am knocking you for washing ever 2 to 3 days, I am just wondering what do you do for a living? How long does it take to wash you hair from start to finish, and how in the world do you fit wash day in if you have to work the next day? I am just asking. I have to be at work at 7:00 am, and I get off around 4:00. I usually get home by 5:00, that only leaves me with 4 1/2 hours before bed. It takes me that long to wash, & condition my hair and I don’t even have 1/4 of your hair. Girl, spill the tea! How do you fit a wash day in that often?

LOL!!! It just depends on the day and what i got going on. I squeeze in time to do bits and pieces at a time. For example, I may pre-poo before I go to bed and sleep with it. Then I'll get up about 4:30 am (some times earlier) to start the cleansing and styling process before it's time to get the kids ready and myself for work. The next day, I'll go to bed early to catch on the sleep I missed...lol There were times when I would get up early morning, shampoo, deep condition, plastic cap, head wrap or satin lined cap, and then wear the deep conditioner in my hair to work. No one would know unless they touched my head and heard the plastic cap....lol A lot of times I would start my wash day when everyone is in the bed, and I'd finish about 2;00-3:00 am, get a little sleep, and right back up for the kids and work...lol Keep in mind, I have been frequent washing my hair like this for about 30 years, so it's a part of me.

Sometimes my scalp itches the next day after shampooing, but i dont wash it,ill wait at least 2 or 3 days later. I wonder if I should wash it when it itches even if it's the next day. I got that stupid rule in my head that you shouldn't shampoo your hair everyday. But each head is different so I might try it and then I'll let you know.

Hi I Marcella! I have experienced that too and have concluded that I didn't get my scalp clean when I shampooed. You may want to try clarifying and exfoliating your scalp. Also, it may be an allergic reaction to the the shampoo. Let me know if this is helpful. Thanks for your comment!

How do you do this routine with very short hair...about 1.5-2 inches thick? There is no way to wash the scalp with the H&S shampoo without it touching the hair since it is very short. Secondly what alternative is there to the moisturising shampoo? I really want to grow my hair and your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi! The H&S shampoo would touch the hair. I suggest pre-pooing with oil or grease before using the H&S shampoo to protect the hair. Creme of Nature has a great moisturizing shampoo. Let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks for your comment!

Hello Valerie Price! I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. We have to be careful with using hair grease. I recommend only using it on wet hair and scalp. Also, only apply it once per hair wash. And most importantly, never comb your dry hair especially if you have used hair grease. I will do a video soon to provide additional details. Thanks for your comment!

Information overload! lol. In the comments you mention doing a deep Conditioning treatment and that the Head and Shoulders is not always used every 2 to 3 days. Is that correct? Is it possible to do an updated wash day routine. The Grow your hair in 7 days was very helpful but I don't think you follow that anymore. I've just finished watching all of your videos. Very much appreciated.

Hi anca515! I apologize if it's too much info at one time. I try to say as much possible so when I do another video and say something different, you will be aware of what I'm talking about. No, I don't use the Head and Shoulders every 2 to 3 days. I mainly use it around and during menustration (TMI) because of the sebum production. After that, I'll rinse my hair with warm water or use the Silk Element shampoo (making sure to pre-poo with grease before shampooing). Yes, I will do an updated wash routine soon. Regarding the Grow Your Hair in 7 Days video, the concept of what I did remains the same. My natural hair doesn't like the Infusium 23 because of the silicone; my ends break off. The key is to keep your ends trimmed (not too much and not too often) and in good shape, keep the scalp clean, grease/oil the scalp while it's wet., and style in a way that you don't have to comb for about 5 days. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks for your comment and support!

Hi Marie, I normally just put in twist and then pin up the twist with bobbin pins. I normally take the twist down and wear my hair out on the day that I'm going to wash it. If I blow dry and flat iron, I normally just put my hair in the halo braid. Let me know if this was helpful. Thanks for your comment!
