Why natural hair is trending again

#naturalhair #type4hair
HI FRIENDS!! In today’s video, I discuss how natural hair has become mainstream. Even the celebrities want a slice of the pie to make some money. However, natural hair wasn’t always celebrated and marketed in the mainstream. So don’t forget to like comment and subscribe. Let me know what your thoughts and opinions are.

Natural hair is so simple! I realize it only requires 5 products as well. I’m easing from being a product junky. To maintaining my hair with natural things. Like oils and butters. I still have 30 products at home. That need to be used first sigh😅. I was just an impulsive buyer. Testing out what could work well in my hair! At least I have two years or more worth hair products lol! They last so long, since I’m just one person!

I’m liking this new era of the natural hair where we’re reclaiming the type 4 hair spotlight, while these celebrities are catering to “every type of curl” because our natural hair movement inspired everybody even white women to embrace their curl. I don’t care about their ish.

The natural hair movement in the 50s was about embracing your beauty and fighting the white washing society expectations. The movement i the early 2000s was the same. Now it’s about gate keeping and selling products

Also now it’s about what the media is pushing. In the 90s and 2000s you had the video girls and now you have IG baddies and those looks don’t push natural hair. It also has to do with what and who your surround yourself with. There are plenty of community spaces where natural Hair never went in and out of style because it was their life style. If you allow your social media algorithm to show you perms and weaves that’s what it will continue to show you

The pretty privilege video inspired me to go back to natural hairstyles. Also, the natural hair community is a whole lot less complicated now. They used to have videos with 6hr wash days. 😂 And I think a lot of people got locs for hair retention but they didn’t want to admit it because the loc community can be toxic. Notice how they are all taking out their locs, not chops or cuts

Exactly things are simplified now because for me for example I’m done with the multiple products I went back to leave in and blue magic grease and a gel depending how I style my hair. I’ll use up what I have but I won’t be spending money on expensive brand creams that dry out my hair.

I don’t follow celebrities. Most don’t have as much hair as I have. I grew up during the 60s and 70s. Our regime was simple: cleanse, condition, detangle and use of hair grease to condition and style our natural hair. I still use the same regime and my hair grows past my butt. Today, “Natural Hair” followers are doing way toooo much!!! The “Old School” regime is tried and true over many, many decades long before what’s called “The Natural Hair Movement.” Hell . . . It’s not a movement . . . It has always been here!!!

@@Peresphone Glad too! Be sure to keep your scalp clean. I shampoo at least once a week. I live in a very day climate so I must drench my hair at least every other day. I drench my hair in the shower with water and apply conditioner while in the shower. And detangle using using my fingers. Be certain to use plenty of conditioner so your fingers glide through your hair. You will be able to feel the tangles and gently pull them apart. Clip hair up and I complete my shower. Then rinse hair leaving a little bit of conditioner in hair. Apply a leave in while hair is wet. Apply a thin coat of oil focusing on the ends. I have type 3C-4A hair. I style while hair is damp. I oil my scalp and message. I use Camille Rose products the Signature collection. I also use hair grease; Sunny Isles Rosemary mint products.

I don’t know why you think there were not many natural hair brands a few years ago. I could see if you said 15 years ago. Even some traditionally relaxer brands like Dark and Lovely, Mizani and African Pride out out natural lines. Not to mention Taliah Waajid, Alikay Naturals, Uncle Funky’s Daughter, Obia, Bask and Bloom, Afroveda, Keraveda, Mane Choice, Hair Rules, Mielle Organics, Kinky Curly, Beautiful Curls, Karen’s Body Beautiful, Oyin, Design Essentials, Curls and countless others. I also know some that went out of business like MopTop Maven. I liked that leave in.

Rihanna is playing the heck out of black women that romanticize “exoticals” because Rihanna never shows her real hair and just so happen to show it when she’s selling a hair care line. Her hair was clearly recently big chopped because it was DAMAGED; which means her products don’t even work on her. She showed her hair for 2 mins and slapped a weave back on. At least Beyoncé has long hair. Bey could actually finesse and say her products work.

@@TomikaKelly I mean, I remember reading an interview of Rihanna's stylist and Ri literally said "I need a relaxer" so I don't think she's as into natural hair as a product line suggest. But I also don't think all the backlash is necessary. I just don't bother buying overpriced celebrity lines that are nothing new on the market. Let those that wanna buy her products do so and move on if you don't is my motto.
