    We need to give one another grace regarding the products we choose to use or not use. I do not use grease, but I don't see a problem with anyone using it as long as it is not causing any harm to their hair.

    Grease didn’t work for my hair either. I noticed my hair became drier the longer I used grease. Shea butter was too greasy for my hair and it ruined my pillows and my bonnet. Mango butter is the best for my hair and sanity. It doesn’t ruin my pillows as much and my hair stays moisturized for several days 🙂

    I like grease, i use it heavily every 10 days. When i shampoo, i try to achieve ok, clean hair not super duper clean and stripped hair. Shampooing twice every section and rinsing thoroughly is enough for me even with grease and a moisturizing shampoo.

    What I've noticed while using grease is that its overall consistency really matters. There are some brands of grease that are just too solid and don't spread well, even if you warm it up before use. I also found this to be the case with shea butter and raw coconut oil, surprisingly. My must-have grease is the cantu one. It has a very soft consistency, which, in turn, means it's very spreadable.

    I think grease has more to do with porosity. I have very dry high porosity hair and grease works great on my hair. If you have low porosity hair, I can see grease being a problem and/or hard to remove.

    I love this video! I have very fine 4a/4b hair that tangles and breaks very easily. I tried to use the Blue magic indian hemp again for a braid out and it was moisturized for a couple of days, but by the end of the week my hair was dry and stiff, water was taking way longer to penetrate, and I also had to strip my hair with sulfates. However, the indian hemp grease does have coconut oil in it (which also makes my hair stiff and is proven to slow water absorption and release), so I may try again with another grease formula without coconut oil just to see if the same thing occurs.

    I know this question doesn't really relate to this video but do you detangle your hair before washing? Because some Naturals I see on KZread say detangling hair before washing helps to reduce knots and tangle before the deep conditioning process. Is this true?

    The anti grease movement was propaganda that I am ashamed to say I fell for . I spent 100’s on ‘natural’ rancid oils and leave in and whatever fly by night product It was all nonsense Back to green dax and apogee Rosemary and peppermint oils I lost so much hair with the natural movement but it’s back now

    When the natural hair movement began, part of what was natural were ingredients. Petrochemicals aren’t natural. My concern was for the environment since my hair had been natural most of my life. Does it seem that this part of the movement has gotten discarded?

  • @Ingrid-jx7iz

    @Ingrid-jx7iz

    Жыл бұрын

    I’ve noticed that too… and I also remember the natural hair movement was more heavy on DIY, sustainable ingredients and treatments (olive oil, coconut oil) to take care of our hair, in part because of the lack of hair care products. Nowadays there’s so many hair care lines in the market that sell packaged “natural” ingredients meant to keep you buying more and more, that the environmental aspect of the movement has been less of a force. I am at a point where I’m trying to be completely sustainable in my journey (from using shampoo and conditioner bars to diy treatments), but I honestly don’t fault those who use grease because cost and value wise grease can be more sustainable for people who can’t afford the other route

    Natural for the environment... The same story of people being vegan for the animals wellfare and not really for human health. What a joke... I tried the vegan diet, read books, invest a lot of money in the food and the fancy juicing/cooking items that were and are still popular. That was fun for a while. Then my body became very weak and i refused to let an ideology and a cult deprive me of my health because of the environment/the animals. I ate a burger and then went carnivore for a year before reintroducing carbs. My body thanked me. When i did my first big chop in 2015, it wasn't for the "environment" BUT i naively REALLY believed that silicones, petroleum, mineral oils and shampoos with sulfates were evils 😈. Of course that was also a big fat lie 😣. I bought tens of "organic" butters, oils, essential oils and trendy natural hair products from popular companies in natural hair community for years. All of this to try grease, silicones, sulfates and discover that my hair react better and thrives with those "unethical" and cheap products. I was never natural for the environment thank God so now my life is easier... The only good thing those years thought me is to have and maintain a good hair regimen and that protein from animals are necessary.
