    I searched this topic because of the tremendous difference I've experienced with my latest physical therapist who I pay with cash. Thanks for your perspective and insight about how insurance companies limit how practitioners can devise their programs! Customization is critical. I'm getting more results in the first 3 sessions than I had over the last 2 years 😆😆😆 Worthwhile investment!

    Just seems like the science is not solid for chiropractics, specifically sinal manipulation. Sure it will make you feel better like a placebo. But PT seems to be studied much better, exercise based treatment.

    This is great! Can you do sth similar for cool down? Or what is your suggestion for rowers?

  • @Fiziologix
    @Fiziologix2 жыл бұрын

    @Max Flinter I'll be posting a new rowing specific cooldown video this week. In the meantime, you can certainly do this warmup progression for your cooldown as well. If you feel there are any particular tight or sore spots, pick a few that really speak to you. Big targets after a rowing workout are to loosen up the hips and the mid back into extension, and include some rotations as well.

    So, basically the proper rowing posture and technique is to keep your back straight and everything aligned?

  • @Fiziologix
    @Fiziologix3 жыл бұрын

    Great question, @AnonymousAni. At face value, the simple answer is yes. But since we're all built a little differently than one another, the best posture may vary from person to person. Best place to start is at the pelvis and your "sit bones" and being sure you have enough mobility in your hips, back and hamstrings to tilt forward and backward throughout the stroke cycle. Next though we also consider any other pre-existing or previous injuries you may have worked through, as that will also dictate which specific exercises we may want to choose to help you more comfortably maintain a particular posture while erging. I've found that once you are more pelvis aware, can demonstrate a good "hip hinge", and aren't trying to row/push through pain, your posture tends to take care of itself from the ground up.

    I'm going to start setting a timer during the day! My biggest benefit was realizing that my memory foam mattress was too soft. I loved it because it was so comfortable but my back started hurting so much during the day. I experimented with sleeping on the floor on top of a comforter and my lower back pain disappeared. Amazing. So I bought a Japanese futon and sleep on that now. I gave away my mattress on CL. Lol

    Nice routine. I found this linked on Rowing Stronger's site on their warmup article, along with another warmup video. I'm seriuosly out of shape, and getting back into erging and eventually some weight lifting. This video was great, but it wore me out trying these out. Looking forward to getting this done regularly along with some daily activity on the erg and the bar. Thanks!

    Awesome, thank you! If it's too much right out of the gate, not to worry. Break it up into smaller bite-sized chunks and slowly get used to the motions over a period of a few weeks. Welcome back to the erg! (aka my happy place) 😎

    How do work on isolating the big toe and being able to lift it alone...are there any progressions/exercises that you recommend?

  • @Fiziologix
    @Fiziologix5 жыл бұрын

    It takes some practice and patience at first. Rarely have I seen one of my physical therapy patients or training clients get it on their first attempt. Set a timer and do it on both feet... stare at them, mirror the movement with your hands/thumbs. If you just can't get it, you can start with your foot flat, lift ALL your toes, then work on putting your 4 smaller toes down while keeping big toe up. Good luck!

    I love this warm up but wish you had recorded the full warmup showing all the reps on both sides. It's disappointing to have to stop the video to do the extra reps/side and then restart it. multiple times Sorta defeats the idea of having a training warmup. Really liked the music and no talking!

    Our teams in New York adopted this warmup routine for our daily practices. I especially appreciate all of the cross-body movement. If I had to pick favorites, the multi-directional hip opening lungs, the airplane walk, the marching knee hugs, and the deep lateral lunges with reach. Also the chest sweeps and hip diagonals. So, you know, basically half of the warmup. :^)

    @Katherine McKay That's a great point, Katherine! After I had finished putting the video together I realized my mistake in not including all the reps. My more recent PT/rehab specific videos are including every rep, and when I put together a new version of this warmup, I'll be sure to make it easier to follow and without any need for a pause. Thank you for sharing! 😎💪🚣‍♂️
