"Making-of" videos, pottery and ceramics tips and tricks.
Hey ! It's Greg, ceramist and clay tamer.
I make pottery "making-of" videos, essentially no-wheel, and I share a lot of tips and tricks for doing creative ceramics.
I have been a professional ceramic artist for about fifteen years, and I was previously an independent graphic designer-illustrator (which explains the very artistic side of my pottery).
In my videos I show you how I make my pots trying to be both educational and fun. I want to you to have a great time watching my videos, even if you're not a ceramic enthusiast.

Would definitely love a series!

Beautiful Art work! Thank you so much Greg!, gave up pottery for years, but did make some beginner bonsai pots☺️maybe with your inspiration, I will pick this beautiful art work again🇨🇦👍

Thank you for making another video with the little assistant!
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Do you sell the stamp?
No, I didn't think about that. Maybe I should make some more... maybe one day...
..... another awesome video, great techniques, thanks for sharing! Cheers!
...... awesome pot, great technique, excellent tutorial, Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Will you make a video of how you finished this pots with colours !
What materials could be use for
The only issue I have with the inner wall is when the roots grow under the lip of the pot. It will be hard to take the tree out of the pot….. ❤❤❤
Where can we buy good pottery tools like the wire cutter? Thank. You. ❤❤❤
Is there a golden rule for the rectangular side, and wall height. Thank you. ❤❤❤
How do I determine the curved patterns? Is there a formula for rectangular pots? Is their a good book for patterns? Thank you. ❤❤❤.
super
Beautiful, looks like fine China! Where can I get the flower tool?
Thanks. I build it myself.
Can you tell us the brand of that extruder?!?! And that rim trimmer
Can you tell us the brand of that extruder?!?!
Beautiful work Greg ❤ 🙌
Thank you 🙏 🫶
Totally underrated videos. I can see how many effort is putted in the making. Love it, but I recommend everyone to use safety eye wares when using power-grinding tools, for your health (talking out of own experience) 😉✌ keep up this great work!
Thank you very much 👍
WOWOWOWOW!!!! These are all absolutely amazing!!!
Thank you 😄🙏
I'm in awe of all your tools that you have designed. How wide are the walls of your pots when you first cut the slab sides? You seem to use the same dimension for those often.
thanks. Most of the time I use 8-10mm clay slabs. It's just because I'm comfortable with this thickness.
No one ever shows how they make the feet!!!! Why is it such a secret? lol. Your pots are beautiful. Do you sell the templates?
I've already shown how I sculpt feet in other old videos. ;-) Yes, the templates are for sale on my GumRoad page: gregceramics.gumroad.com/
Good video... But I love to see the burned ready pot at the end...
❤❤❤❤
Yeah great mate! Good idea! ❤
Thank you for the content. How long until you flip it and add feet? I always get some sagging in my slab.
I'm not waiting, I'm flip it right away. If the bottom is not firm enough, I put a temporary support inside. You can see this in some of my other videos.
Brilliant. Thank you. Have you thought of using a camera lucida or sketching projector to project the image onto the work surface. That way you don’t cover up the image as you work. Maybe it would help?
Thanks, that's a good idea. But it's not necessary, before becoming a potter my first job was graphic designer-illustrator. ;)
Bradil
Bravo.
I'm very keen to hear what you're saying but the music is so blasting I'm just having such a hard time 😢

Que belleza de macetas arto talento
Outstanding work, crisp, clean, absolutely gorgeous craftsmanship!
Love your pots and videos. Hope I can ask this question, I have trouble with the unglazed pots showing the dark and light using a wash, is there any points you can give me to accomplish this? Thank you
Do you mean that you have difficulty obtaining a beautiful result? It took a lot of practice to know how to scrub the pots and when to stop to get nice shades. I rub the pot, making smaller and smaller circles with each pass.
@@Greg-ceramics yes, I seem to wipe too much off and then it looks the same all over and I don’t have the two shades like light and dark. I’ll have to just keep on practicing. Thank you
Stunning pots, as always
Muchas gracias por compartir tus conocimientos y experiencias! Estoy aprendiendo mucho de tus videos. Saludos!!
Mon futur cadeau de Noël 😊
Magnifique !! Les petits marrons sont ouf !!! Bravo !!
Merci beaucoup 😊
Superb!!
Awesome work! I do have a few of comments though. 1. There are many beautiful and desirable pieces you have shown. But two pieces really stand out for me. Both are from your 'Unglazed Challenge' (A) at time mark 0:50 and of course (B) the one you really liked at time mark 3:37 (it's a masterpiece). They are so striking with their coloration and the larger pot is so lovely architecturally and texturally too. The gradation of the dark to lighter color is wonderful. Best of all they are beautiful pots that would not visually overpower the trees in side them. 2. Although I prefer non glazed bonsai pots, the glaze you decided to stop using due to cost produced very desirable results, just awesome. It's your first pot out on 'Kiln Opening - Stoneware Ceramics and Bonsai Pottery - Cone 8 firing.' 3. I notice that you use a tool to create a rough texture on the inside of the pots. I have never experienced a pot with a rough interior. Might this make it difficult to remove the tree at repotting time? Unfortunately I live 8000 Km away near the Pacific coast of North America. So I'll probably just be admiring your wonderful work from afar. Thanks for showing us your superior products and methods!
1 - the pot at 3:37, I had already forgotten it, I would have to do more (in the end, I didn't keep it for myself ;)). 2 - I hope that the price of lithium will become reasonable again and that I will be able to do this enamel again, I know that it is very popular. Plus, it took me a lot of research to develop it. 3 - Perhaps the trees are a little more difficult to remove from the pot, but one of the advantages is that the trees also become more quickly stable in the pot. But the main advantage is that the roots go down instead of making "buns" that rotate in the pot. it's very effective. The Japanese did this in the past when pottery was made by hand. that's a bit lost with mass production and molding. There are still a few rare masters who do it.
That's a beautiful kiln opening. I'll search for more informations about "anagata" shape! 👏👏👏
Thanks. Hanagata means "floral pattern", search for 花形盆栽陶器
How much for that lotus oval unglazed?
All the pots are on my website : www.greg-ceramics.com/ But I'll ship only to Europe ;)
