Cobra Pot #1 - How to make a Flared Round Pottery without a Wheel - clay slabs technique

Here's how to make a flared round pottery without a wheel. In this tutorial video, I'll show you how to use the clay slab technique and the handbuilding pottery techniques to craft a round pot.
I'll explain the importance of planning for your pottery projects and bringing your pot design ideas to life by covering various concepts on the fundamentals crafting techniques and basics of pottery.
Even if you don't have access to a pottery wheel, you can create round ceramic pieces with clay slabs. Making a round pot without a wheel is easy, and there are many pottery techniques to achieve this. With this pottery lesson, you'll learn how to cut a clay slab cleanly to assemble your pieces correctly and precisely. Moreover, with this method of making a pot from scratch, you can also create large pottery or XL pottery of all shapes.
This ceramics class covers pottery basics and basic handbuilding pottery techniques that will allow you to step-by-step build round ceramics without a wheel, as well as all kinds of pottery shapes. This tutorial on construction methods will open up your creativity, allowing you to realize all your pottery ideas, all the pot designs ideas you want to build. As usual, I'll show you all my pottery secret techniques, and my pottery tips.
We'll also discuss techniques for handling groggy clay and achieving clean joints between clay slabs.
This hand-built pottery construction will be in two parts; in this first part, I'll focus on the technical aspect of clay slab construction, the pottery techniques. In the second part, we'll explore another aspect of clay usage by sculpting the feet of this round cobra-shaped ceramic, the pottery artistic. It will be more about the artistic aspect of building pottery, but I'll still include, as always, some tips on pottery making and handling clay slabs.

Yes, I'm sorry about that too, I had to stop sending to the UK :( Since Brexit, I have had a lot of problems with customs, lost packages, or waiting for months in customs. I think customs is not sufficiently adapted to the change, and there must be too few staff to handle the influx of packages to be checked and cleared. In Europe, it's so simple and pleasant to be able to go and trade with all countries easily since we no longer have borders and the same currency.

Very nice work! This has probably been asked a 100 times, but what is the tool you're using to extrude the coils? I hate hand rolling them and need one of those tools 😅 Thank you ✌️❤️

@@Greg-ceramics thank you very much! I watch very few pottery videos and glad I happened to see this one. Might be odd, but I try to not let other people's work influence my design path. But again, great work and very clean! 💯 Edit: just ordered one ☺️

Hi Greg! I remember in one of your videos you recommended 40% grog @0.5mm particle sizes? I’m curious if you’ve tried 0.2mm particle size before? Sio-2 4002 is 40% grog @0.2mm particle size and I’ve found it easier to smooth than the 4005 with 0.5mm particle size.

I do not recommend clay, I just indicate the one I use in each video. The choice of clay and a personal choice that must be adapted to each. 😉 But yes, I’ve already tried the Sio2 in 0.2 and I’m pretty happy with it up to a certain size. And unfortunately, it is not available in all shades (or my dealer does not offer it in any case)

My Spanish is a bit rusty, but I'll keep that in mind! 😄 but currently you can already put the automatic translation, I think it is available. Mi español está un poco oxidado, ¡pero lo tendré en cuenta! 😄 pero actualmente ya se puede poner la traducción automática, creo que está disponible.
