Probably the most important thing to learn about if you want to work with large slabs. Nothing worse than spending all that time making a pot and have it warp or break because you didnt use the right clay

Exactly, otherwise we start with bad habits. And when someone starts working with a particular clay, it is often difficult for them to change.

My God, this is fantastic... I think this is the first video I've seen on any topic that actually gives useful info to help you make an informed decision... Usually when you watch a video geared towards beginners in any field, you end up more confused at the end

Merci beaucoup for this very helpful video. I just now suscribed to your channel but my husband has been following you for years because he is a bonsai enthusiast, and a ceramist too (but he's really more of a woodworker). So I have seen many of your videos already. I want to thank you especially for making the effort of speaking in English, but if you spoke in French and put subtitles, I would continue to follow you, no problem! Your videos are very helpful and you are very generous with information. Merci beaucoup! Saludos desde México!

Thank you very much for this kind message 🫶 It took me a long time to decide to speak in English (because of my accent 😅), but I found that it became essential to give information with more detail.

And speaking in English will make your videos accessible by a wider public. Mais que penses tu of sometimes repeating what you said English, in French? Peut etre nous apprendrons un peu de francais avec les pottery skills!

Yes, I've already thought about occasionally slipping in a few French phrases. I've done it once before with a French expression that makes no sense at all when translated into English!

Thanks mate, this is the kind of thing that seems obvious to us, but we all asked ourselves questions like that at the beginning. I wanted to make a quick little explanation video, and I still spent weeks on it! 🤪

Thank you for your interesting video, like always! Now I want to colour a small batch off clay. Bake it and make it in to grog. Then mix it into my white clay and make some small pots. Greets from Belgium
