I love the white stoneware. I've never fired at cone 8. I don't have a kiln of my own, and my class firing options are raku, cone 6 and cone 10. Do you ever have problems with pots fired to cone 6 or lower? I once bought a low-fired pot (they didn't say what cone) that turned to mush a year later after a few nights of freezing temps.

I have never fired in cone 6, and I have never made earthenware. When I started pottery it was to make pots that would go outside all year round, so I've always done stoneware and porcelain (from cone 8 to cone 10). A long time ago I had already used Raku pots for bonsai and they broke at the first frost! My main activity is to make pots for bonsai, I have to make stoneware. It would be a bad idea for me to fire at cone 6, the pottery will remain porous ! 😅

Whow this looks like Christmas, birthday and Easter together!!! 😊 one question please: I wonder why you don’t have to put supporting pieces underneath the large surfaces? After my firings of white heavy grogged clay they bend downwards and no coming back or is it good for drainage? 😅 thank you so much for the videos they keep me going despite many failures 😢🎉

I sometimes put supports under certain pots. Most of the time I can do without it, as I have found a clay that doesn't warp much at high temperatures. Before, I used another clay, I preferred to work with this old clay, but it deformed more easily. A choice had to be made... Now I sometimes put supports under the large pots with thin feet. And under the large flat pots, I put a small pile of sand in the center.
