I went to relieve a teacher for a good 10-15 minutes last year when I saw her crying in the hallway. Her class was horrible and it wasn’t even the class I’m in with her for the kids with IEP’s. Nobody cares and it gets worse and worse each year. Can’t expel kids, can’t give consequences ,and the kids know it…so they just do whatever they want to do.

Teaching once was a respected profession now teachers are the punt of all jokes. If we defend ourselves then we're let go, but if a child hits us they get a slap on the wrist and a meeting with the parents. Somebody is going to get a free ride to the Kingdom, because teachers are fed up with the lack of discipline and disregard. The Bible says; "Spare the Rod and spoil the child". This has got to stop or parents will be going back to the good Ole COVID teaching. #VirtualLearners for $1000 Alec.

in rowan salisbury district in NC they were paying 14.40 an hour for CERTIFIED teachers. so you go to college for a very long time, they hire dei people to teach, so you are just a sub. and get paid less than what some get paid in grocery stores

DEI people are there because 9 times out of 10, that particular school is mostly minorities and white people tend to take everything as "insubordination". Plus, minority students HALFWAY know that if the teacher is the same race, they're more likely to have the same experiences. P.S. I'm theorizing you're white, live in a fairly diverse area AND none of the white people (INCLUDING YOU) don't want to work as a teacher (or anywhere they might have to associate with minorities).

The other 35% that say they have not had violence against them are new teachers. If you have been in over 5 years, you have had violence. I taught for 15 years. I was bit and had to get it cleaned out, a tetanus shot, and bandaged at the workers comp clinic. I have been spit on, slapped, and clip board thrown at my head like frisbees. I left 3 years ago. Hard decision, but I had to for my own health. I taught 1st grade.

Admin does not care, they just dont want to see them in their office. Parents dont care because their children act just like they do. Some of their kids whoop them. These kids are getting worse every year. We got into the profession to educate, and inspire kids to come into their greatness! We did not sign up to be cussed out or hit. Punish students and parents for any educator being assaulted!!! Im not talking about suspension. Hell they both can go to jail.

Parenting. Lack of communication skills starting from the home. Lack of accountability and consequences, starting from the home. Continued exposure to detrimental items on social media, music, etc.. Enabling. Desensitization leading to poor emotional intelligence. Lack of problem solving and critical thinking. Appeasement rather than being taught to deal with rejection and rules. That's just to start...

Good luck with that! It won't make any difference if the teacher is in the "right"; it won't make any difference if the teacher was simply defending him/her self. It won't matter one iota. What will happen is that the teacher will lose his/her job for laying hands on a student, and have to go through a lot of turmoil (and probably legal costs) to get clear of this mess. I've seen this happen half a dozen times; it NEVER worked out for the teacher. I knew a teacher who was beat up trying to break up a fight between two students. He was young and inexperienced. He didn't start anything; he didn't threaten; he didn't do any harm to anyone. What he DID do was get a black eye, a lot of bruises, a torn shirt, and a job termination letter. Stories like this are ubiquitous. Better to just walk away from violent students and let someone else deal with it, if you can.
