It not the staff ( teachers and subs) that need more training. It is the students and their parents who need it.

"Taken to an undisclosed location to get snacks" I cannot with you! LOL! 😂😂😂These kinds of incidents are being reported far to often. My question is what supports are needed to protect our teachers from working in these type of environments and under these conditions?

It may sound funny but he’s not lying. The principle’s office is a joke now. They have a whole cabinet of snacks and juice boxes for students who are sent to their office for disciplinary action. Even the principals are not feared as they used to be. I was in my class and the principal came in. You would have excepted a hush to come over the room but no they looked at her and went on with their normal nonsense. Kids don’t come to school to learn anymore. They come to see their friends and socialize and we teachers are expected to be the nurse, disciplinary, security, guardian social worker, psychologist and teach all in the same day to 30+ students in each class.

My sister is a teacher and her district just taught them how to hold a mat for the kids to hit. They aren’t allowed to restrain the students. Thankfully our legislatures are against this and it hasn’t officially went into effect.

This is why there is a teacher shortage. They do not receive the support or funding needed. The pay is minuscule.

I work in education and these kids have no discipline and are not raised to respect adult authority or rules and are NOT ever held accountable and responsible for their disrespectful language and behaviors at home and when they come to school the AP's and P's pacify and coddle them‼️ I say if they had DAR and an ASZ whooping once a month...bad behaviors would decrease and academic performance would increase. And the same goes for students with 504's, IEP's, EIP's, RTI's and SST's‼️

It comes a time of being beyond tired of being sick and tired and your natural reactions kick in before you can get your adult self control together. That reaction doesn’t give a damn about your job; it’s just solving the problem at hand. I had a coworker who had a 2nd grader spit on her. She said she didn’t even realize that she slapped him but when she recognized what she had done she couldn’t care less about whether she had a job or not. Luckily she just got written up and a day off. But the child, well you know the story. Yup, he was back at school the next day.

I remember how a kid at my school slapped the teacher and she slapped him back. That kid's father called the teacher and thanked her for doing that to set his son straight. This was years ago before kids were being rewarded for bad behavior by giving them Happy Meals, new bicycles, and tickets to Disneyland.
