    1:54 - it looks like you place the saddle of the jack stand over one of the humps in the side lift points. I am working on a W204 for the first time and wanted to make sure I was putting it down correctly on jack stands. I was worried about those plastic lift points breaking when placed on a jack stand. Are you using an adapter there or are your jack stands designed to fit into that groove at the 4 side lift points?

  • @SamAbraham

    The mount will pretty much just sink onto the jack stand. I just replace those plastic jack pads on the chassis every couple years

    I had a W204 pre-facelift and fitted a genuine Edition 507 steering wheel and shift boot/knob. Made an amazing difference to the interior feel. But I did love the dark wood trim. Definitely wouldn’t replace that.

    Awesome video! I myself own a 530i manual with upgraded suspension and love it. Only complaint I would have, is the differential :/ They only came with open diffs which sucks because there will be always be 1 wheel spinning speeding out of a corner. (Not really sure yet what I should do about it.. Was looking at some E39 M5 diffs but these are really costly so thats pretty much a no for me now. Feel free to give me some tips maybe)

  • @SamAbraham
    @SamAbraham5 күн бұрын

    Best option thats cost effective is getting a racing diffs kit. It essentially adds a clutch to your open diff which allows you to get the similar effect of an LSD. I will probably do that at some point, only about $350-$400 for the parts. The issue with an M5 diff is that I believe you need to change the entire subframe to an M5/540i subframe, as the inline 6 models have a completely different setup

    The 530d LCI performs almost as well as the 530i (the 530i shades the 530d by a second or even fractions of a second), the acceleration from 40 mph is even better on the 530d, and the 530d has seriously better fuel economy. Unfortunately it was never available in the USA, the USA didn't do diesel cars in those days.

  • @SamAbraham

    Yep, I wish we had them in the US as I would probably have one instead haha. Some day when this M54 gets tired and I still have this car I'll either S54 or M57 swap it!

    Ok, I hope this question doesn't sound dumb...How do you get both of your front jack pads on jack stands? I mean if you jack the car up at the jack pad, how do you replace it with the jack stand? I'm pretty probably missing something simple, but I can't figure it out! Great video!

  • @SamAbraham
    @SamAbraham28 күн бұрын

    I raise the car from the front central jacking point, you'll see it on a cross brace below the oil pan. If your car is too low for that (mine is now), I use one of my jacks to raise a car from the side, then slide my larger jack under the central point to raise it higher before adding the stands. If you only have one jack, then parking the car with both front wheels on a couple 2x4s should do the trick

    You can actually make profit selling this car by parting it out. Since you have a m56 the fuel tank is worth more then the car. A brand new one goes for like $7,000.

    don't have a W204 but a W221 S63 with a M156 and I would probably go with the res delete something light. I would go louder but I'm not consistently going out the track, and I daily my S63. plus after owning a G37X with a Tomei single exit to the y pipe, no cats removed mind you and that shit had so much drone, and was loud enough you could literally hear my ass coming from a mile and a half away after a while the drone was getting to me a bit and was a little annoying.

  • @SamAbraham

    Like your S63, my ML63 is very quiet for an AMG... but thats how I like it. Has a bark when you're on it but driving around town its pretty sedate. Have had no desire to change that exhaust haha, in fact, my C63 exhaust is still untouched as well
