    Never knew installing 14-50 outlet had so many considerations. When talking about such a long charge, how does all of this affect Tesla owners who plug their mobile connector into a wall outlet? Charge times can go from 8-30 hours. Thanks for the video!

    The bigger question is why use a 14-50 outlet to begin with? Unless you're planning on making cookies in your garage, the neutral circuit (and wire) is completely pointless, complicates it and makes it quite a bit more expensive. Tesla has adapters for the more appropriate 6-50R plug.

    Tesla chargers are up to 80 amps for one .. rated continuous load 125% . no wonder you're cooking the outlet. Read the name plate on the charger and see what your charger requires. more than likely, the equipment bonding jumper is connected to the natural, like dryers.

    As far as I've seen miles don't matter as much as how you treat the battery or how old it is. There was one guy who was practically babying his model 3 and had far lower degradation compared to the average, he didn't charge it above 80% and only slow charged it and kept it in heated garage. I've been looking at used 2012-2014 Tesla Model Ss and noticed that they tend to last around 250k miles before the battery dies. These are the 1st gen so I honestly believe Teslas word that their cars last over 400k miles now. One thing missing here is how age is affecting degradation, it'll be interesting to see low mileage but 20 year old model 3s fair.

    Title says Truth about Tesla and proceeds to talk about the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Bolt. Battery tech has improved a lot since then. There is plenty of information about Tesla batteries on cars that have been driven over 200,000 miles. Include that. This is anti ev ignorance and if not outright FUD.

    I think the eBay market for this type of used device, due diligence should now include "has this device been unlinked from original account". Than the market can have 2 prices for ones that are linked and unlinked based on what the market determines. Charge point has to prioritize features and processes on their end, and I can see how reallocating resources to solve problems on the used market wouldn't take priority. I understand your frustration, but your problem doesn't have to be their problem since they already made their calculated profit margin from the first owner.

    Your problem is with EBay.; you are not ChargePoint’s customer. I agree the situation sucks, but the seller should give you a refund. I also don’t understand why you would pay so much for a used unit when a new one with warranty is so close in price. I hope you mange to resolve this. I’ve been using a hardwired ChargePoint unit for nearly 7 years and the unit has been flawless.

    Wait, so you think you should be able to contact a manufacturer and say “I want you to remotely make me the owner of someone else’s device without any form of verification”? And when the manufacturer insists on verification, you say they’re “yanking your chain”. Did you think that all the way through?

    Will this company ship you a NACS cable to switch from J1772 once it becomes more mainstream? Would also like to see more configuration options on the internal dip switch. Thanks for showing the inside of this unit! Bolt EUV owner here too. Delayed charging is awesome and I would love to see if this company solves the delayed charging conundrum via a software or firmware update. And, of course, love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for a great review.

    Thank you for the comment! NACS version is coming soon. With the smart functions being set on the charger - everything works perfectly. For those EV owners that has personal preferences on scheduling - we created a separate firmware. We will update Josh's device soon.

    Glad to be in Australia where 240v is standard. We can have single phase (standard which can deliver up to 9kW) or 3 phase (industrial or for commercial dryers or other heavy power uses which can deliver up to 22kW). I hope one day to set up a 3 phase home charging system.

    The input cable being longer means it doesn’t conform to J1772 specs which dictate 1-foot/30cm. Granted, I still prefer it to be longer. :)

    I plug in but delay charging too in order to take advantage of reduced rates late at night so I think the way the charger loses communication would be an issue for more people than you think. I agree they should change this and fix the notifications some other way.

  • @chargeeverywhere
    @chargeeverywhere2 ай бұрын

    I spoke with EVIQO today, and they said this will likely change and that they already have a firmware variant to fix it. I'm hoping to try it out in the next few days.

  • @EVIQO
    @EVIQO2 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your comment. If you set the Delayed Start or Schedule on the charger's side - it works perfectly well. Josh prefers to use his Chevy Bolt's delayed start system as he wants his car to be ready for a specific time in the morning. However, the same can be reached if you just set the Delayed Start on EVIQO and set the battery limit on the car. At the end of the day - the battery will be charged and the car ready to go in both scenarios. For those clients who want to use the charging smart features on the car's side (instead of EVIQO charger), we have a special firmware version.

    Curious, would you be able to use the A/C + Level 2 Charger at the same time? Next question, would you be able to use your A/C + Level 2 Charger + use your microwave at the same time? What does all that depend on? The breaker? The gauge of the wires? Your electric company?

    Do not use a NEMA 14-50 residential recepticle! It's not rated for 100% duty cycle. Too many house fires result in this application. Use a Hubbell commercial rated recepticle instead. This is why DIYers shouldn't do this install.

  • @chargeeverywhere

    I was a Ford tech. Learned some stuff about residential charging from them. One of the first things I was shown was burnt houses and cars and garages. Not necessarily because the tech did it wrong. But because this is an emerging technology. I don’t ever install NEMA plugs for EV chargers at all. And honestly, that technology is already outdated in my opinion. I only install the Tesla Gen 3 charger. Tesla has been doing it longer has made more mistakes and learned from them. I looked at the Rivian chargers too, and they are not great wouldn’t take on the liability myself. But Tesla has made a universal charger for the GEN three I recommend it over the Rivian truck charger any day.

    I drove a Vauxhall Astra up to 175k, a Seat Alhambra to 340k and a Citroen C4 up to 150k. The diesel Citroen I should have set fire to at 80k, it was so unreliable. DPF issues, etc. The Alhambra, petrol (gasoline for our colleagues from the US) was mechanically fine, but blew through 3 ignition coils and 3 crankshaft sensors in that time. All problems I won't have with EV. 😊
