If anything they will be straining the electrical grid more than anything, and it's not like huge car charging lots are not appearing everywhere.... Well done, Josh, but I have one sincere question: you spend 10-15 hrs a week commuting (maybe more). How much of that time are you thinking either, "I've got to get a house closer to my job," or "I've got to get a job closer to my house?" The 8 hrs a year devoted to changing oil pales in comparison to your there-and-back commitment .
Finally! A car I can draw!
Dang, it's like we're living parallel lives. I drove a blue 2002 wrx wagon for 250k miles. Now I have a dual motor Cybertruck on order. Also love Todd the Cybertruck truck guy. :)

So excited for the cybertruck!
Thanks. Great video
Good animations man. Really helped understand the reasoning behind the Cyber Truck
Love at first sight with the cyber truck. Can’t wait to get mine! Great video BTW.
Good work - thank you!
I went from a 1996 Sentra to a 2015 GTI, but as soon as I pay it off I’ll be cruisin in a Cybertruck. This video is exactly all the reasons why I cant wait for the Cybertruck! 🥳
Nice video. Super clean and tight presentation
I never even thought of buying a truck until the Cybertruck was unveiled. Now I’m seriously considering buying a cyber truck. This was a great video. Thanks for dropping it on us.
great video....i agree w everything u pointed out
We had RVs from 2009-2017. A 5th Wheel towed by a 2500HD diesel, a Class A full size motorhome, and Class C small motorhome. The gas was ALWAYS the main expense. We have two Model 3s and can’t was it for our 3motor Cybertruck. Fuel, albeit electricity, will be a magnitude cheaper to run. We plan on towing a ~22ft travel trailer and going where we want, when we want, full time. Pull into an RV Park and plug in. Charge overnight, ready to go in the morning.
Nice job breaking down your thought process. I'm off to look at CTG now.
4:30 “cyberstruck” 😂 love your videos btw
I've owned Honda, BMW, toyota cars, and Chev gas pickup, and a Ford F350 7.3L diesel presently. Just last week I got on the list for a CyberTruck, and I'm sooooooo EXCITED to have one I can't stand it. I'm with you brother.
I didn't notice it before, but the camping render uses induction for the cooking pots, not white gas or propane. You can tell as there is no burner on the stove. So it would use electricity from the Cybertruck for cooking. Cool!
About a year out ...WooHoo! Can’t wait. My res #is right at 3500 for a tri motor FSD so I hope to be an early recipient. Great vids, keep ‘em coming. Oh and Todd sent me here a while back, I’ve just been quiet.
Nice video now you're making me think I should get a cyber truck
As a car guy myself, not a truck guy by any means I ended up putting a deposit down on a cybertruck too. Idk what about it but dang I need one
At first I thought the cyber truck was ugly, but then I heard all the specs and that price, and I stopped looking at the tail end and started looking at the angry low resolution shark at the front, and I fell in love.
I'm a Mazdaspeed3 owner and this video pretty much hits all the same points for me. I never saw myself being a truck owner until the Cybertruck. I think what a lot of analysts miss when they project sales is that this vehicle will create an entirely new market segment more than it will pull from the sales of existing models.
Thanks!

I agree! I should have mentioned this. It's the coolest thing out there - by a long shot!
As soon as I saw the cybertruck I could see its potential to use as a work vehicle. That combined with that striking design makes it very exciting. The durable exterior seals the deal for me.
I bet that there is a car out there that could perfectly suit your needs just as well as a Cybertruck. The only problem is that then you wouldn’t have a Cybertruck. Honestly, you can justify getting a Cybertruck in many ways but really you only need two reasons: it’s freaking cool and it’s not stupid expensive.
I ordered mine as soon as the website went live (~#14k). I have a Model 3 and have had Trucks and can easily see how a Cybertruck will be a massive step up on all dimensions.
I've always been a car guy myself, and I pre-ordered a Cybertruck early this year for the reasons you listed and then some.

I think you missed the cost of electricity delivery: 8 cents per kWh is pretty good for electricity supply, but probably doesn't include the delivery charges. In my area, delivery adds up to about 10 cents per kWh on top of generation cost. That would kill your cost comparison... thoughts? EDIT: loved your video, thanks for making it!

Thanks for pointing that out. Electricity is crazy cheap for me currently. It's about 4 cents for generation and 4 for delivery, plus the fixed monthly costs, which aren't tied to the kWhs. Hey man, great video. On the topic of repairs, what are your thoughts on the exoskeleton with a serious collision? The stainless steel is obviously tough, but not unbreakable. I have to wonder how the repair process would be executed for even a minor fender bender. Also the cost of that type of metal work. Thanks man.
Subbed, gotta support another PA tuber. I get 21mpg in my 2.7L F150, but its only on 87 and i use about 80$/mo in fuel. Not as killer as it was about 15 years ago when I was getting 11-12mpg. Cybertruck will get be under 25$/mo. Insane. Hopefully i can get an EV truck at some point once its paid off and save up. Miss my WRX. Keep yours forever. What ever tires the Cybertruck ships with, it might need new tires and I would recommend the General ATX LT's. Never found something I havent been able to conquer in the Allegheny National Forest / Loyalsock Forest summer or winter
I get about half my rated range when driving 85 mpg on the highway in my long range model 3. Just something to consider when choosing your battery size.
What blew my mind was the electricity price. Ahaha. Here in Australia we pay $0.24 and that’s considered cheap. Fuck what I’d do for power that cheap
I want to see how easy it will to ensure the thing and what are the premiums
Personally, I'm more excited about it's competitors. But I do hope for a chance to see and drive them ALL in the near future.
Well done video, I gave it a thumbs- up. I drive 25-30K miles/year which is why I reserved a Model 3 right after the reveal. Long range electric cars are great for long commutes, especially with autopilot in stop and go traffic like I get in SE PA. For your calcs, you need to include charging efficiency (~95%) and daily loss especially if you use sentry mode and pre-conditioning. I would also see if you can get your employer to allow charging at your office. Mine does, and pre-covid, I wasn't paying for or any electricity. I can see some issues with supercharging in a cybertruck just due to its size. You may need 2 spots open next to each other! Another additional expense you will see is insurance and higher registration cost for a truck in PA. Also, just out of fun, your car resume doesn't scream "car guy":)
I thought the cyber truck was ugly and over the top when I first saw it. Then I saw videos breaking down how the design is a product of engineering. The exoskeleton is revolutionary. The solid steel panels require straight lines. No painting or buffing. Its simplicity and simple is beautiful. I don't look at it aesthetically and appreciate it. I look at it as a feat of engineering and now I love it.
Show us the math! I personally like seeing the method behind the numbers. It makes it clear what you were looking at and any (potential) assumptions.

@17:30. Tesla's need to change pads every 100k dependent on weather conditions. Tesla's that live out where there is no salt covered roads, this issue doesn't arise as much but generally you should swap over at 100k due to rust and degradation of pads because they don't heat up enough to remove build up. New pads designed for evs are coming out now and last a bit longer but should be swapped over at 100 still. Yes still alot cheaper but Tesla's still require some maintance, not zero maintance. Cheers
Your Subaru it's beautiful 😍
I have two trucks, one gas, one diesel. Neither of them get anywhere close to their claimed fuel economy. Their trip computers out and out lie. You have to do the math yourself. Trucks are also notoriously expensive to maintain and repair, particularly diesel trucks. Diesel trucks only make economic sense if you have heavy loads to tow.

I haven't owned a car since 2014. Sold my tricked out Mitsubishi and vowed to never own another car until we could afford an electric vehicle. Since we moved to a city, we haven't needed to use a car since then. However we're moving back to the countryside and it will be a necessity. Cybertruck hit all the right benchmarks for me - especially for all the same reasons you gave about performance and hauling. It's going to be even more expensive for us down in NZ but totally worth it. Also because it's steel, you can stick magnetic signage to it for advertising. So whether you're advertising your own business or someone else is paying you to advertise theirs, it makes a great investment

One big thing not mentioned and it should have been high on the list to own a CT back east.... Stainless Steel. I used to be a mechanic on the west coast. We would not work on any cars from back east that was over 5 years old. Just too many rusty bolts and would cost a fortune in extra labor to work on. I ordered a model Y 3 weeks ago and when I heard Tesla was raising the cost of FSD, I ordered a dual motor CT. I figured that it would take about 2-3 years to get through the 750K of preorders for me to get my CT. Main reason for a CT for me is towing. Model Y will tow but I love the CT's AC plug in! Make camping much easier....
Cybrtrk will be a changer all around.

I bought a long range model 3 but I think I need to get the cypertrunk now 🙄
My only worry is how easy to service. If you don’t have service when needed or have to drive, that could make the difference.
If you account for insurance and increasing gas prices, Cybertruck should prevail on fuel cost even more. Insurance generally would be cheaper for safer anti theft etc cars I think.
I drive VW Lipo 3L and it goes 100km on 3litars of diesel with speed 100km/h. On max speed 170km/h it is 4.8l per 100km. Take that car into consideration until Cyber Truck become available ;)
The cost justification all falls apart when you consider that it will take many years until the cyber truck sells at $49k. Tesla’s always start out selling the high end version and it’s years before they ever reach the base model. And not sure that any of those nice options you speak of will be on your base model
I love that it is so tough. Cracked windshields, paint scratches, dents, NO MORE! It will make it less scary to own a new car.
