This was one take…it would be a benefit to your show and its viewers if you set up the scene, explained the context before you start the clip. It matters what happened right before she walked on stage, why she’s upset. Thanks for posting this iconic, Oscar winning performance!

Some additional backstage info: Those tears that you see weren't produced by glycerin. Streisand and her co-star Omar Sharif had been having an affair during the filming of "Funny Girl". They both knew their love couldn't survive (for one thing, she's a Jew and he was an Egyptian, and during that period the tensions in the Middle East were every bit as awful as they are today; possibly worse). So when they were going to film this scene, the director, without Streisand's previous knowledge, had Sharif stand right next to the cameraman -- so Streisand was singing directly to HIM.

Barbra Streisand had done a pre-recorded performance of my men for the movie and she told the producers that she could do a much better performance doing it live. So they let her do the performance live and they use that in the film. I watch this song in the movie over and over and every time I know what's going to happen and I still cry she's an amazing performer. Yes you did win an Oscar for this movie her first movie. I love your channel do more Barbra.🎉😊

I'm French and a big fan of this singer, but also of the woman she is😍! When she does something, she does it thoroughly! She sings with her voice, her body and her soul🎤🎶! no one sings like Lara! what annoys me a little is when people compare her to Celine Dion🙄! Lara is a whole person and not a copy of someone else 😉! I'm about the biggest Lea fan on the planet and I'm about to say something that may make people hate me. I don't like this song. It's not pretty or melodic at all to me. It's kind of harsh on my ears. Am I crazy.

I used to show this video when teaching English as a second language to show how English vowels need to be shaped to be pronounced properly. Lea is so incredible.
Her first job is with Miss Saigon playing the character of Kim and not with Disney ... fyi. The Disney came after a few of her stage plays performances. She was never underrated, she is known all over the world with her stage play performances in Miss Saigon, Les Miserables just to name a few. Won the Sir Laurence Olivier best actress award for her performance in Miss Saigon.

Michael Ball did a fabulous job enhancing Lea's singing. He was hanging on her every lyric, listening, not tuning it out. And then he drew in that intimacy while she was concentrating on getting her balance in his arms for the head drop. She was inward, he was outward, towards her.
I saw her on Broadway in her (I think) only lead role in a musical about the silent film era, Goldilocks, by Jean Kerr and Leroy Anderson. She had a very Elaine Stritch number in "I Never Know When to Say When."

lea has been doing musical theater when she was 7 in the philippines. she got her her first starring role in a musical at 8yo in Annie. she had been trained on voice lessons at an early age even before becoming a disney princess, she's done many musicals, concerts and albums even when she was young.
Any chance that you'll be seeing STEPHEN SONDHEIM'S OLD FRIENDS starring Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga??? It is only running in the West End until January 6!
