This is still the best version of this song. Elaine own's this song. No one is able to deliver the emotion out of this song as good as Elaine does.

Amazing story. Judi Dench was supposed to play this role which would have totally transformed this song. Elaine Paige was a last minute replacement when Dame Judy injured her ankle....Brilliant

Props for not pausing during the crescendo. Offering a review after experiencing the full show instead of interrupting its flow adds to the magic :)

Ahhh... The Legend that is Elaine Page. “Memory” will always be her Song. Thank you, guys, for this review. I was so emotional all throughout and I couldn’t suppress a tear or two from falling down my face. It’s quite a disappointment that this review hasn’t garnered yet a large audience at this point; it should already have. Anyways, thank you so much Christian and Beth for this wonderful review. Keep doing what you’ve been doing. Kudos!

The song itself is emotional for us because of our morality. Then add the music, the aging character, and of course, our Elaine just makes this performance so intense each time we watch it. We not only witness a fine piece; but also experience it ourselves each time. Bravo!

I admire your knowledge of and expertise in musicals. I learnt a lot. Can you react to Nella Fantasia performed by Lani Misalucha with MPO. It's one of my favourite crosssover pieces ever perfomed on stage.

Thing is, she wasn't meant to be in Cats, Judy Dench, (I know she's a Dame, but she wasn't then.) was, but she snapped an ahcilies tendon during rehearsals, and Elaine Paige stepped in at the last moment.

love hearing your stories, your experiences with auditions, working in theatre, the back stories abt the plays, etc About older artists, esp women, I don't know if I'm right, but I've noticed that older artists seem to have more relevance as compared to in the US, and there seems to be less emphasis on maintaining perfect looks. You have excellent examples like Judie Dench, Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren, Julie Andrews, Angela Lansbury and so many more who are still relevant, respected and can carry shows. And they seem to just let themselves age gracefully and naturally. There are male examples too, come to think of it...Do correct me if I'm wrong.

Absolutely!!! We definitely value older artists! It’s just that the available roles get less and less. Those examples above are a small percentage of their contemporaries who made it to an older age and still able to maintain a career in performing. It’s luck of the draw I guess. I do think in the UK when in comes to acting we do judge on talent before looks. However I think in recent years there has been a shift. The industry they were in at our age isn’t the industry it is now. We’re moving in a commercial direction, producers want to fill seats. But you are definitely right! We value experience and have a respect for older performers. I think it’s lack of roles that end the careers of older performers. And that’s a shame. 💙Xx

Today's date is 4/13/2023. This video has 5.8 views, 179 Likes and 24 comments. At first one would think that's absurd. But then, it easy to understand because you guys never, never shut up. I personally enjoyed listening to 'everything' you said but the general audience wanted to hear Elaine sing 'Memory'. All your comments, rather than being welcomed, became a disrespectful distraction and I'm positive thousands and thousands people turned away. Sorry. Just being truthful about my feelings. Of course they are only my opinions. Thank goodness you didn't interrupt the crescendo........ Do you guys know Angelina Jordan? I think she would be right up your alley. Listen to her sing "her version" of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' on AGT/The Champions. Considering all the social media outlets available the video has well over 100M views. Give it a go. My last statement is your video as presented here is geared specifically for people who are interested in learning how to sing and understand the mechanics of music.

Well said, but once I began to listen I didn't wanted to show any disrespect and turn them off so I listened to the full video. I did comment "I enjoyed listening to everything they said" and they definitely know their stuff. @@HappyHauntsMaterialize

I don't mean to piss off the Brits but Elaine Paige is entirely overrated. Betty Buckley's Broadway performance of Memory is far superior. Buckley inhabits the Grizabella character. Paige looks like a feline version of Angela Landsbury in Sweeney Todd.
