The way why Lea Salonga is at par from other musical artists, aside from her impeccable vocal quality and her unmatched enunciation, diction and delivery, her great understanding of the song and of the character she is in and her intelligence as a musical actress is unmatched, in a different league of her own and incomparable from the others in great length. The most intelligent musical actress I ever know.

You mean above par and NOT at par. AT PAR means equal footing, when i think you mean that she is without equal or above them all in your succeeding sentences.

Lea always delivers, better than anyone else in my opinion, but sometimes I have noticed is that she just seems to move to another level altogether ( it’s not something I can describe, it’s just more of a feeling) when Gerard, her brother, is up there on stage with her ( he is the conductor of the orchestra, & extremely talented in his own right). They seem to have this telepathic thing going on & I’ve seen many concerts when he has been the conductor & they have a laugh & a joke & they can ad lib & change things at a moments notice because he seems to know exactly what she wants & Lea is 100% confident of what Gerard is able to provide her with, chemistry to the max for two people who’s whole lives together have had music at its core. I don’t know if anyone else feels the way I do about this or if it’s something I’ve maybe imagined because I would like it to be true!!
Lea Salonga is the first to give the Philippines pride. We Filipinos love her.

When I worked for Pacific Bell in the 90s, I worked with a guy of Filippino heritage who loved sports and didn’t care for musical theater, but he was OBSESSED with Lea.
Lea had been working professionally in the Philippines for 10 years before MISS SAIGON and then she had been playing Kim in London and on Broadway for a couple of years before she played her first Disney princess.

Whenever I hear and see Lea perform, she has this something that always caught my attention and made me feel wanted to listen to her all that time. She has that magic. She connect me easily.
Loved your first Salonga Sunday!
That raised arm gesture is absolute Evita! She couldn't do it with both arms but pays homage with one arm.
Look how Lea holds the microphone as she sings.
Hello! Lea started her musical theater career at age 7 in the Philippines. At age 9, she played the lead role in the musical Annie. There's a video of her singing Tomorrow from that musical. You might be interested in reacting to it.

And let’s not forget Miss Saigon at 18. She was on her way to Broadway Legend status before Disney ever approached her.
She is an actress even in concert setting.
The storytelling is so, so impeccable... Lea is a league of her own, one of the best in the world. She's an icon. I love her.
Loved it! Great job guys thank you! Another epic performance of her. Not really musical theater but if you have a chance check her take on Via Dolorosa it’s a master act

I don't know why every time I listen to her the song always became emotional. Her eyes conveys too many emotions. And your detailed thoughts just made me more emotional. You made me tear up.
Another haunting performance of hers is EMPTY CHAIRS AT EMPTY TABLES performed in a NYC morning show.

Salonga Sundays! Great! Great! Great! Love it!
She’s beautiful.
Thank you for reacting to Lea's rendition, really appreciate it, love your intelligent observation on Lea's storytelling of Evita Peron's political journey!
Salonga Sunday it is..thank you so much same to Ms Beth...Appreciate your time and effort for this rev... More power to the channel..May God Bless you both with more...Padagos !
The character Peron actually draws people through her ability to project sincerity. Even today that is the holy grail of every politician. It makes their job much much easier whether it is to uplift the people, or to personally gain from them. So there is no conflict between what Lea is projecting here and the positive/negative views about Eva.
Lovely, simply lovely the commentaries and reactions. Waving from Italia.
Love your reaction ❤️❤️❤️
Her Disney stint came much later in her career. Her origin comes from theater stage at a very young age, trained at 7 yrs old at the Repertory of the Philippines.
AHHH YESSSS 🥰🥰 Can’t wait for another Salonga Sunday!
Take note that the conductor of the orchestra is her brother, Gerard Salonga
Looking forward to every Salonga Sunday! 😍

At a young girl of 7, Lea is already a member of Repertory Philippines, doing musical plays. In addition she records several hit albums at a young age. She audition for tge original play Miss Saigon, UK at the age of 17 and also starred in tbe Broadway version. A winner of Grammy and Tony award.

lea has been doing musical theater when she was 7 in the philippines. she got her her first starring role in a musical at 8yo in Annie. she had been trained on voice lessons at an early age even before becoming a disney princess, she's done many musicals, concerts and albums even when she was young.
Th3 essence of what is a great performance a music rendition at its finest
Being not a fan of musical theater, listening to your story analyses both of you, educates me and entertains me so much. Lovely❤
Lea did not start with Disney. She had been performing since 6 years old:) I love your commentary, it is very entertaining and I am learning something new about music. I have always been a fan of Lea, she gets better and better.
Both of you are insightful critiques...love your criticisms. Enjoy this and your other Salonga Sundays.❤️
When she sings this song it gives me chill.

Correction: her first job was in musical theater at about 9 years old in the musical Annie and NOT Disney movies. They were the result of all those musical theater experience.

she's so endearing
One of the most iconic interpretations of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina." It is one of the most recognized songs from Musical Theatre. Just a little medical history about Eva Peron and her predecessor , Isabel Martinez Peron. Both of Juan Peron's spouses died of the same disease, cervical cancer. It is now known that most cervical cancers arise from infections due to human papilloma virus (HPV). Thus both of them died after being infected by their husband, Juan Peron, as HPV is a sexually transmitted disease.
Very good review/reaction. intelligently done !
Pls do react Movie in my mind by the Filipino singers Lea Salonga and Rachelle Ann Go. ❤🇵🇭

Please react to. Lea Salonga singing "Via Dolorosa"
Maybe other Filipinos have mentioned this already, but I just wanted to offer a perspective that we may have in common with Lea. The Philippines has our own Eva Peron in Imelda Marcos. Someone who also came from poverty and came to power as the wife of a strongman. I agree with Christian that the sincerity is still part of the act, and not a product of Eva’s truth, because if you listen to Imelda Marcos, she is nothing but sincere, she radiates it. She really thinks she loves the people; and basks in their love of her. She thinks she’s selfless and giving despite the massive theft that her husband’s government perpetuated. I’ve read her biography and Imelda totally believed this character that she created to be able to get to where she did. She wrote the mythology as part of her rise to power, and Imelda completely inhabited this fantasy role she’s been playing and made it her truth even though it isn’t. I’m not saying this is true for Eva Peron because I don’t know her, but I suspect that Lea, being a child of the 70’s and 80’s in the Philippines, and having lived through the peak and fall of the Marcos regime, probably played the Eva Peron character with a little bit of Imelda Marcos. Just my opinion, and I can be completely off base. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful analysis of her performances. I have enjoyed your videos immensely.
please react to her version of Color of the wind...

PLEASE REACT TO LEA SALONGA'S SINGING BRAVE.
Full package 📦 done ✅ host’s 👍👍👍and ads too 🥰
Her first job is with Miss Saigon playing the character of Kim and not with Disney ... fyi. The Disney came after a few of her stage plays performances. She was never underrated, she is known all over the world with her stage play performances in Miss Saigon, Les Miserables just to name a few. Won the Sir Laurence Olivier best actress award for her performance in Miss Saigon.
You must react to her You Must Love Me. It's just an audio. There's no video of her singing.
Goosebumps!!!❤❤❤
when she sang the last line, lol i really believed her for that moment
Pls react to regine velasquez asias song bird LOVE STORY
I would love to see a reaction to the song Higher from Allegience. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s about a Japanese family sent to an internment camp during WWII. It’s partly based on George Takei’s experience growing up, and he plays her father in the show. She is stunning (unsurprisingly) in the show
🙌🙌🙌
React to leah salongga and Eva noblezada you'll love it

PLEASE DO A REACTION OF MS LEA SALONGA OWN RENDITION OF GOD WHY GOD FROM MISS SAIGON SHE SUNG IT DURING HER SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE CONCERT TOUR.
