These two great Philippine powerhouse singers just show these super amazing musical artists have somewhat the same caliber of musicality altho one ( that of Regine Velasquez) is leaned towards more of the popular/contemporary genre with power belting voice while Lea Salonga (with her classical theater background) has a perfect pitch quality to her voice. Both of them are now considered musical icons in our country. Their singing careers has spannedç almost 4 decades already.

The powerbelter, Mother of Filipino Music, Asias/Philippines Songbird and the Freak of Nature met the Miss Saigon and the Perfect Pitch Disney Princess and they made a wonderful piece of Art/Performance 💙💙💙

Regine has been slaying our music industry for 35 yrs During her prime years (1990s-2010) she sounded more as a LIGHT LYRIC SOPRANO, bright, crystal clear feminine tone, agility to go up and down and play with the scales with ease, and sustaining her shimmering high notes for as many seconds. The sheer power of her belting range has sometimes overshadowed other aspects of the quality of her voice which are the ability to be soft, almost airy in quality once she transitions to falsetto or headtone. After giving birth to her son -Nate and also her acid reflux, she noticed that her voice went a few keys lower, her voice darkened, it became rounder, and fuller as she blossoms into a FULL LYRIC SOPRANO, what remains to her is her high notes became powerful whenever she uses her mask resonance or heady-mix depending on the song. Somebody told you that Lea Salongasaid that Regine Velasquez is a freak of nature… But they didn’t tell you why… Regine is known to belt with her chest voice very high in her range, in places were most singers would either have to mix or use head voice. Use head voice! She has a never ending ability to use her chest.

I would say she does flip to a chest mix as she goes up but she does have an amazing ability to keep the core of the chest up as high as she does. It’s amazing x

Maybe you can also have an Asia's Songbird Day too! 😊 😘 She's not as famous as Lea Salonga in the Western but, She's been the Asia's Divas of all the Divas since 1990's. I guarantee and 101% highly recommended that, all of her performances is worth watching for!... She's the Blueprint of Philippine Belting or should I rather say, Singing. She's the most celebrated Filipina Singer and one of the humblest ang kindest too, so a huge number of singer's in our country is inspired and admire by her. By the way, she have a collaboration concert with Maestro Michel Legrand ( the famous and award winning composer. He composed "A Piece of Sky" and "Windmills of Your Mind" to name few. He basically worked with a lot of western Singers and to name one Ms. Barbra Streisand.) He describes Regine's voice as Magical and Angel like. He mentioned that he only have one favorite singer which is Ms. Streisand but, after hearing Ms. Regine's voice for the first time, he instantly have two. Lea always sounds like Lea! Indeed a "perfect package" yet never resting on her laurels, always growing, and that's why she's a living legend! I've always admired Lea as a bright person, singer, and artist who seem to always make intelligent choices and conscious decisions and in control of everything she does. She has never let fame or fortune get to her head. One could only appreciate what she brings to the table and leave the analysis to vocal experts like you, two, so THANKS for doing us fans a favor and doing a great job! Lea's vocal range is supposed to go as far as mezzo-soprano. I have to find that rare video of Lea showcasing an almost operatic voice, if you haven't already done a video on that. One final note (pun intended 😃) Lea is a living reminder that not everyone has to be a belter in order to be successful and be a star (like Karen Carpenter in her time--one of Lea's idols, I believe).

Lea is really so humble, for her to say that it's so hard, considering her status in the music industry. Most singers will never say that.

The major reason why Lea had to push herself here is because this is her first duet with Regine and she knows that Regine is a natural belter whose voice has the tendency to overpower even without her trying. This is the first time that Lea evidently pushed her chest register way further.. This is their first duet ever and the expectations from both fandoms are just way too high. They are queens of different kingdoms..On the other hand, Regine is aware of the power of her vocals so she adjusted the colour of her voice.. She chose to use her Streisand tone to match Lea’s sweet voice..

wow! u guys are spot on👌. first this event is a charity online concert of Regine for covid health workers. she asks Lea to be her guest who gladly accepts. Raul Mitra arrange the medley to suit both artists. the words said by Lea in the end were cut off. and its a long narration of how its so difficult to sing with Regine in a good way. U r right regine is a power belter and her high notes are epic and effortless (specially when she was in her 20s to 30s.) . A living legend in PH. Lea is a theatre musical legend who put PH in the map. Won international awards which even Regine would brag about on behalf of Lea. they are both highly respected and idolized even to this day by aspiring singers. In a land of singers, these are the two voices MOST analyzed, emulated and studied. for this performance they both need to adjust so they can meet in a middle ground. And it just sounds so wonderful. we r all still hoping for a Regine-Lea concert🤞 they respect each other and their interaction in soc med sometime r so cute 😍. Im obviously a fan of both😅

I will say again, SO HAPPY that you got around to reacting to this video. You can see why the fans have been requesting it like crazy. Amazingly enough, this is the first time Lea and Regine have ever done a duet! (Yeah, we are all shaking our heads about this, too!) They both guested at Sarah Geronimo’s concert in 2013 and the trio did an AWESOME Barbra Streisand medley. (You definitely need to react to it but please don’t react to the one vid where the video and sound are slightly off, even though I think it’s the mostly widely viewed one. (Regine had this online concert for her 50th birthday to fundraise for a charity. She is 10 months older than Lea.) Talk about super high notes, you should check out Regine's duet with Russel Watson, "Live with somebody you love". It's a monster of a song from Martin Guerre, a musical play by Schomburg and Boublil. Very few women attempted to sing this, but rather mediocre delivery. So, Schomburg got Regine to sing this part. She sang it like ABC.

Sorry, inasmuch as Régine’s chest voice range is impressive, I’ve never liked the quality & sound of her voice and I’ve never been impressed with scream-your-lungs-out poor technique type of belting. No wonder she can’t sing properly anymore and the hoarse quality of her has become permanent.
