This was my immediate thought. So bizarre that it was instantly closed forever. I’m sure it could be repaired and brought back to code and safety standards. Ontario Place is a travesty. That should be a wonderful urban park for everyone, not a damn mega spa. Ford is desperate to get land into the hands of his developer buddies. He wants the green belt and whatever prime land he can get his hands on.

I'd call Doug Slim Shady but only half that name fits. Haven't we learnt from the green belt debacle that he can't be trusted to do what's right for the people and his true loyalty is to his developer buddies? This stinks to high heaven and I only wish the OPP would get off their asses and charge him for the green belt land scheme. The auditor general gave them all the evidence they need. Ontario Place & Science Centre were operating at it's peak during a time when there used to be this thing in Toronto called mixed-income neighbourhoods, where people of all socio-income levels would intermingle. The closure of these institutions isnt 'bout DOFO per se, rather a complete gutting of the economic system. The closure is Govt corruption only in so far that Govts are fully corrupted by the profit mindset. The people who cry against encroaching "socialism" (notwithstanding the irony of calling liberals "socialists") are also the ones politically support what MLK realized about western democracy long ago, "Socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the rest of us".
Ford reminds one of Huey Long of Louisiana - the corrupt "Kingfish".

incase people still thinking immgrants are taking the jobs in canada is not true ,,, employer / companies prefer cheap employees ... if you go work for less than immigrants comanies would start hiring canadians and someties candians in hiring position prefer to hire immigrants ... and if there will be too much presuure for them to hire canadians only they ll do it for time being till they find thier way to get the cheap employer whether its immigrant or candian ..

I confess, I really don’t care that much about either the Science Center or Ontario Place. But I do care about get-rich scams and given the latest Green Belt fiasco I think I smell a few rats. Under the guise of more housing for Trudeau’s immigration policies, Ford and his next door real developer buddies intend to make each other rich. Why else would the Ontario provincial government pass legislation exempting them from environmental studies on provincial lands? Why else map out Ontario Place for a ‘spa’ when there are already two in that area. I grant that the waterfront, including Ontario Place are losing propositions, so if you can’t build housing there why not turn it into green space for a city park and cultural center? If there is enough money to rebuild that area then there is enough to repair the Science Center and develop that overgrown parking lot at Ontario Place. No my fellow citizens, I smell some rats.
