Bumble's Celibacy Fumble Proves Dating Apps are Dying

The dating app Bumble has received backlash after they launched a series of ads targeting people who have chosen celibacy. The ads not only offended a lot of people, but called into question Bumble's core identity as an app that prioritizes women's empowerment, agency and safety.
Bumble's mistake highlights a bigger issue with dating apps as a whole: people don't want to use them anymore. Particularly Gen Z, who is the demographic that dating apps most want to target.
This episode looks at how and why Bumble launched their disastrous campaign, and what is going on with dating apps as a whole.

I am a millennial but I've never understood the appeal of dating apps. For sure I think they have ruined the dating landscape for now. Nice job to Gen Z for seeing through that BS.

I’m gen Z and I absolutely hate the dating culture these apps have created. It’s truly dystopian and I’d probably agree to sell an arm if given the opportunity to travel back in time to get to be young before the age of the apps
