    Maybe, but those tires aren't really much bigger than the stock tires and those wheels are pretty lightweight. As long as the car isn't abused, it should be okay. I've got friends with 8 years on the exact same tire size and no CVT issues.

    The control arm will be the limit of down travel for sure. I've got a whole series of videos showing a significant increase in suspension travel with suspension versus spacer lifts measuring on the same car back to back. I've had 7 or 8 lifts on the car at this point. Ride quality definitely increases with a suspension lift for off road trails. Spacer lifts are fine for what they are. I have a Subaru with an 8" spacer lift. The oil pan is the same distance from the ground as factory. If that's what someone wants more power to them.

    @@bruceyyyyy I think I've seen your SG before! Yes, you will definitely gain up travel. But I think the way that people envisioned a suspension lift on their Subaru is that it will turn it into some kind of Baja buggy or something 😅 While there's technically more up travel, every Subaru I've trailed with that's running LTC's has had only marginal gains in traction in the rocks or moguls etc. Has that also been your experience or is it a driver error thing? I think some people should consider a suspension lift. But the amount of negativity that I've been hearing lately towards spacer lifts is blown way out of proportion to the point where people who should realistically be running them are scared away from it for no reason.

If there isn't one out there, someone should come out with a tazer like device for Subarus that can recalibrate speedos, turn off all computer assist, maybe even program a STI center diff that is adjustable.

    It's the age-old debate between IFS and a solid front axle. When I was a salesperson at a CJDR store, at the launch of the JL Wrangler, FCA told us that a head designer recommended switching to IFS, and they were fired immediately from the project. It just doesn't allow for the easiest modification and limits overall travel. IFS does give one great advantage, and that is ride quality/stability. That is why we are offroading in Subarus. We can do awesome trails (more trails than most Wrangler owners who never go offroad), we can go drive around the canyons a little faster, and don't have to worry about death wobble going down the highway. Pucks/spacers are for sure the most affordable way to lift any vehicle and perfect for some that just wants to stuff a bigger tire under their vehicle. Mopar actually used to carry puck spacers for the Renegades and were shown off at SEMA. So don't feel bad about spending a little less on the suspension. Feel good about spending a little more on recovery, a nice wheel and tire combo, and/or skidplates.

    @@TheMr.Logan9 friggin spot on!!! I'm so happy that there's still a good solid axle option on the market. Yeah they drive like piss on the road, but even in stock form there's no match for twin d44's when you hit the rocks😬 Subarus are so much more comfortable and reliable. But just have to be approached differently in many ways. And definitely! Spend that money on recovery gear and good tires.

    @@LiftedImports7 I am planning to do whatever my car is capable of doing! So I don’t want to limit myself. I’m putting the idea of a lift on hold right now but want to do something with the tires. I was out a few days ago on a rough dry dirt road. My car kept slipping, even in X mode, on something that didn’t look very tough. Good thing I had my traction boards. That made me think about getting a more aggressive tire. In another one of your videos you talked about 235/65r17 for a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. So I am thinking of that size. How different are they from the stock size? Do I need new wheels for that size tire? Thinking of going with the Wildpeaks. Your thoughts?

  • @LiftedImports7
    @LiftedImports77 күн бұрын

    @@Livingthegoodlife9000 the 235/65 is going to be roughly 1.5 inches taller in overall diameter. It would be a relatively large step up and I would do a small lift in conjunction with those tires if it was my car. But those should fit on your stock 17's:) jumping up to that size will certainly create a less responsive on-pavement experience and drop your mpg. Which may or may not be of concern to you. I personally don't mind it but I'm also not like most people😅 The wild peak is a great tire. But there are multiple versions. There's the AT Trail which will likely be less aggressive than your current tire. I have seen many of them fail at the sidewalls while on the trails. Then you'll have the at3w which is likely going to be completely replaced by the new at4w - both of which will be a bit more aggressive than your yokohama geolandars and i think they're great for the price. Do you use Instagram or anything? If you have photos or video of where you got stuck I may be able to offer more insight. It could be as simple as airing down a bit or a basic driving technique adjustment.

    I have had my tire deflating/inflating setup for a while, and it is a must-have just like recovery gear when wheeling. All I use is an ARB E-Z deflator (exact one in the video) and then a Smittybilt Battery Terminal Air Compressor. I replaced the analog gauge with a Jaco digital gauge (also had to get a Thor's lighting digital adapter) and replaced the bag with a cheap large tool bag from harbor freight. You don't even realize how impactful even just taking 10 psi out of your tires can be for comfort and capability until you try to skip that step.

  • @LiftedImports7
    @LiftedImports76 күн бұрын

    Those smitty's are a GREAT bang for the buck compressor. My friend keeps one in his SAS Runner on 37's and it zips the tires right up. You're totally right. I'm really hoping more people will catch on to how much capability a small decrease in air pressure can be.

    Biggest mistake folks make on their Subaru offroad builds is thinking taller/wider tires give you more capability. You'd be surprised of what you can do with OEM size tires by just airing down. Sadly, if you spent more money on wheels than you did on tires, you're doing it wrong. Also, fancy metal valve stems and extended lugs won't do you any favors as well.

  • @LiftedImports7

    Nicely done, it takes time and lots of work to do your own lifts from scratch, and need to stoutly built, looks like you did most of it 1/4" steel, thats easily 4 fold stronger than factory stuff would be, Toyota now owns 21% shares of Fuji heavy industries which owns Subaru, I don't understand why Subaru doesn't use the Toyota 8 speed auto from their mid size car platform , they are extremely strong and no overheating issues from having an oversized fluid capacity, all Subaru would have to do is design a bell housing for the transmission and it fits all their platforms , then its just programming the TCM, your Outback would be much more capable and add a trans oil cooler and i'd bet you'd have very little if no issues to speak of really,A young millwright that works with me owned a 2015 Outback LTD and built his own lift kit he copied from a company about the start of 2020, we did it all in house on our CNC's and CNC Plasma table we regularly cut 1 3/8" heat treated Boron on it so the lift kit was an easy cut out, although it did take about 4-5 attempts before we got it right, any spacers needed we machined on our mill that was easier than the Plasma cutting i'd have to say, in total if i remember correctly it was 2inch lift , one it was one the ground settled it was more like 1 3/16", to me more like 1 1/8", he did get 28.4 inch tires to fit with no rubbing, it had a great stance and looked ready to go off roading, sadly he had to sell it and get a larger vehicle , they had a 3rd child unexpectedly , so they bought a Palisade and he bought a 2007 Tundra ext cab with the 4.7 V8 and we started again and built this one strong , there's so much aftermarket support for Toyota trucks, getting a rear locker for that truck was expensive gears ,diff and axle shafts were almost $3000 CDN and we did the install at our work, he wanted a front locker , too bad none were available and he built his own front and rear bumpers out of Boron and we heat treated them so they weren't going to break and a Warn 10k winch in the front and a set of 33" Falcon Wild Peak AT3's, he has had good luck with them so far and he's been surprised at how good they are in mud, he currently would like to upgrade his transfer case and it finding its not so easy to do for that year or its really expensive, your Outback is cool 👍

    How come Subaru owners always look like micro dosing gamer boys. And truck owners look like men? Theres nothing in the Subaru operation manual that says you have to be an immediate douche and dress and act like one in order to properly operate the vehicle.

    Torq lockers are freaking sweet. I have been trying to do research to see if anyone has had problems with them while under rallycross and autocross conditions. I know rally cars have run detroit lockers before and have had great success with getting an open diff when not pressing the gas and a locked diff when accelerating out of a low-speed corner.

    Let me know what you find out about that because I just had someone ask me a similar question. My Torq locker never gets used during "spirited" driving since it's a heavy turd haha. But I know there's a lot of people with lifted xt's etc that want to occasionally autocross/rallycross etc.

    I like them. They look good ,price was great. Finish is holding up well over several years. No complaints. The only thing is sometimes I wish I went with bronze instead of black.

    About to pull the trigger on some Method VT spec 501s. Not as many people run them compared to the 502s and they keep the factory offset. Keeping it as close to stock spacing and increasing capability is what my build is all about. Most likely going to wrap it with Falken Wildpeak A/T trails. Loved the atw3 on my Gladiator before getting Ridge Grapplers, and was surprised how well they kept up with even some MT tires. Now, I am hoping the A/T trail can do the same thing and keep up with the "true" A/T tires as well as keeping weight down and not losing handling characteristics.

    Loveeee the 501's!! My friend is running them on his WRX hatch🥵 The AT Trail will help retain a lot of the factory handling etc. I have helped repair a lot of them in the trail. The sidewalls let go pretty easy. But as long as you stay out of the crazy stuff and carry a spare, should be fine!

    @LiftedImports7 Exactly why I got a roof basket, can carry the full-size spare and some recovery gear while everything inside stays nice and dry. I'm going to make sure to use it in the tire rotation so I don't have to worry about uneven wear.

    They need to be lighter some of these wheels are heavy you and d load tires that’s putting a lot weight on the system! Wheel companies are getting lazy!!! More for looks than functional!

  • @LiftedImports7
    @LiftedImports718 күн бұрын

    I disagree. The majority of these wheels are relatively light and the last two options are absurdly light for a non forged wheel. But I do agree. I regularly encourage people to select the lightest duty tire for their Subaru that will still do the job. That's one of the biggest killers of power and fuel economy. Not to mention the wear and tear implications.

    I've got a 2024 Outback Wilderness and am so torn on the best wheel choice for all the reasons you stated. I contemplated the ultra lights having some road race experience but wasn't sure it would work. Being that I'm in Florida but plan some northern Mountain trails, I think I can get away with the light wheels... although mud happens so there's that. Thanks for the video and the food for thought.

    @@larrylocklar5351 you're one of the few people that understands the value in forged wheels. Most people will just buy the cheapest wheel possible for the looks instead of quality. That may be why wheel companies are making less of them now💔 I appreciate the kind words! What kind of Subaru do you have?

  • @LiftedImports7

    @@gage1428 honestly, I say go for it! Unless you're doing something specifically harsh all the time, a lightweight "tuner" wheel should be just fine. I'd love to see pics of the car when you're done with it! Is it lifted over stock obw height?
