Hello, I sort of fell off my bajiquan training a while ago, but I'm getting back into it. Starting over again with the basics. I wanted to ask, though, because I'm very interested in Chinese weapons, if baji has any jian or dao routines in addition to spear?
Yes. There are. Ti Liu Dao, Piao Yao Dao, Chun Yang Jian, amongst many other weapons.
Bajiquan sure
I as a beginner focus mostly on properly turning my upper body during this exercise since this "twist" is needed in so many other Bajiquan exercises.
Right. Simple but so useful.
Flexibility and strengthen the joints
Yes. Good for shoulder joints health.
I would guess it is for shoulder flexibility?
Exactly. And it works the body from feet to arms in unison.
I find this whole series informative and useful. Please keep up the good work.
My laoshi taught me besides baji also pigua and basics from tongbei quan. Besides those zhan Zhuang was the most important part otherwise none of the internal styles are useful .
what will happen if I train without using medicine?
and how long do you practice everyday?
Method is more important than medicine. Wrong method results in deformed bones or skin problems.
One to two hours.
Thank you for sharing. And by the way, my father told me that I should not use the wine medicine as it might cause hand joint problem so I wonder should I keep using it?
It depends. Not all such wines/medicinal solutions are the same. The recipes are kept secret by each martial arts style.
🙏
Deep wisdom presented in a straight forward manner. Thank you.
Thank you very much, Master.
In Hong Kong there is a style callled DaSheng PiGua taught by Geng Dehai. Supposedly, he taught monkey style routines and Pigua routines. However, their Pigua has very little in common with the main branches of Pigua you mentioned. I always wondered where they came from. His Pigua Saber is found in many styles practiced in Hong Kong.
In Chinese culture, Da Sheng 大聖 refers to Qi Tian Da Sheng 齊天大聖, the Monkey King. So the monkey style. I searched and watched their Pigua. Yes it is different from the Pigua from Cangzhou area, and it seems very much influenced by Southern styles.
Question would be how would the training be to develop those jumps?
Great video again laoshi, regarding the fist, my laoshi always explained to me that baji used to have a different name 耙子拳.
It was worth our time, thank you ;)
Another great lesson from the Master! Thank you, Sir.
I’ve been hearing of this relationship for a long time. Thanks for clearing it up. I like your “dishes on a menu” metaphor, though I fear I have been guilty of this myself.
😀
Everybody that loves kungfu is guilty of that lol
Great info! I see some similarity in movements from Pigua in Pak Hok Pai. It makes me wonder if there was ever sharing of knowledge through the years or if it is just a similarly developed body movement and philosophy for long reaching open palms.
That sounds interesting and is worth exploring.
What are the chinese characters for “chuan pu”?
拳譜
Thank you so much for sharing your research and wisdom! I love Martial Arts in whole with a special place for all styles/forms of Kung Fu ❤ utmost respect and appreciation 🙏🥋🥋. As someone who never had the ability to properly learn... I've set out to learn and practice for myself whatever I am able. Keep doing what you're doing... Please. It's impactful for some
I’m glad to hear that. Will do more to help anyone in need.
It's interesting how some Chinese martial arts start out of common themes such as it's first generation master learning it from some random travelling monk, a deserter from the army (like Kezi stick), or from an escaped convict (from what I heard in a documentary about Shandong Tanglangquan).
Vagabond Fist invented by Sifu Low Yong Ten from his many arrest as a policeman. Various uncredited street folk. I so want to learn this art.
Boxers fracture can be healed, if with sufficient medical care 100% (with proper stabilisation by fixation and rest), fracture of scaphoid carpal bone can lead to avascular necrosis and permanent disability of wrist joint, can happen in a palm strike if you use enough force on a hard enough surface
A palm properly strengthened and used correctly won't get injured in that way. That's why we stress foundation exercises and moves/routines.
Shouldn't use without proper conditioning I guess
@@anojjayangana1241 Generally, even without proper conditioning, palms are less prone to injuries if used correctly. An unconditioned fist would almost always get injured.
Super! ;)
Thanks
thank you sifu, your knowledge is priceless for people far from china like me in Argentina. Ive been practicing bajiquan for 5 ears, you come in the right time for me to deeping in whether cultural aspects, languaje (though we know the limits of it) applications, details, and a lot more things that I can´t explain in words but are truly important. Thanks again sifu, keep training us long distance, your work is priceless and encouraging. Respecfully greets and thanks, Agustin from argentina
My pleasure
I've seen him outside of used car dealerships before
Where?
Nice work shifu
Man I really appreciate this. Thank you so much. I’ve always wanted to learn the art but do not know where to start so this is a big help.
Bajiquan, for sure
The egg...is whats known as Cotton Fist...Cotton Palm
I'm not a student of this style. However I can say when I was taught southeast Asian martial arts four decades ago the palm was considered the primary head and chest region strike for self defense. Not to mention when I learned Shuai jiao palms were highly effective for disrupting flow and balance. I even avoided jail because the palm didn't give the intent of doing harm. To this day I slap a wooden pole for at least thirty minutes
Thanks for sharing your experience.
すごいなぁ(´・ω・`)こんなに肩回せるんだ👏
Thank you!
Namaste.☯️
🙏
Thx for showing it!!!!!!
Are you in Mengcun?
No. Tianjin
@@bajiquan.onlineI went to the baji training center in Mengcun, is there a kung fu school in Tianjin too?
@@francescopicca3977 Yes. There are many. But almost every park has some people practicing some Chinese martial art. Tianjin is one of the Bajiquan hotspots.
Boss, Boss, De Rotator Cuff.😮😮😮
Early days of Martial Arts tournaments! Kung Fu guys would lose, because they would Knock Out their Karate opponent 😵💫get disqualified 😳now everyone plays the same! Killing the Gung Fu, real methods 😬
This Chinese concept of being adaptable like water, I think would also explain a point of view about whether to tell lies. Second point, I think everyone's mind is something that they fill with beliefs. And, in doing so, they then take a form. These forms harden and we hold onto them as what people believe is reality. To use the adage: These are the maps, but not the actual terrain. So, we have reality and we have all kinds of people who believe in their map of reality. Just my observation of society.
Interesting observation.
Absolutely, open hand Palm strikes, or slaps open hand slaps as Americans call it, can be extremely devastating, just ask any professional wrestler, the man with the most dangerous open hand slap was the immortal Andre the Giant, you didn't want to take an open hand slap from that man!
What about dim mak?
That works by using well-conditioned fingers. Although it won't really make a person freeze up immediately, attacking those pressure points often disable a person's certain parts so they can't attack any more.
Lovely presentation. I really appreciate it. I can't make a fist due to a tendon injury so open hand is my only option. Your instruction is brilliant, thank you.
Thank you for your feedback!
Just Beautiful, Shifu 💕yes, the Kua 😬
😊 thank you
Do u have a learning platform ? Love it
Thanks. Yes. KZread for now. Patreon (www.patreon.com/bajiquanonline) will add more exclusive content and personalised tutoring in the future.
Great lesson! Very easy to understand the way your are presenting! I learned a very similar move in Eagle Claw.
Awesome! Thank you! I'm glad people will be able to follow these tutorials.
Been studying southern Gung Fu for 48 yrs.! Notice, using Palm strikes 90% of the time 😳Thanks, Shifu 💕😬
Did you ever get a chance to meet or train with Zhou JingXuan before he passed in 2015?
No. I trained alone all these years. My teacher only taught a few students at the time when I was 8 or 9, including his two sons. A few years later we moved house so I trained by myself losing contact with all of them.
