I'm learning 形意拳 and am still working on 崩拳, not moving on to the other two elements. I'm not satisfied with how I do it, so instead of moving on, thinking that I'll get it later, I keep working on it, every day. I have plenty of 功法 to keep me happy, no need to keep adding novelty. The feeling of finally getting 劈拳 and 鑽拳, feeling that I knew how to execute them properly, was so satisfying that I know this will reward all the hard work I'm doing now. I will never stop to thank you for the clarity of your transmission ; the mindset is the same as my teachers' and you convey it with a martial rigour which definitely gaves the taste of the Chinese martial mindset.

@@bajiquan.online Quite true, but it could be because he learned 八极拳 first, before moving to 形意。😄

Thank you for the video tutorials to learn bajiquan, I find it very good. But the content of the videos is too short and not detailed, not explained clearly, I feel sorry for this.

You caught me looking ahead Sifu 😂 I am still going through in order. It will definitely take me a long time. I am almost 62 years old and studying 4 Internal Martial Arts as well, if you count Yiquan separately then 5. It is a labor of love. I fight well enough.

In regards to breathing. Is there a similar thing in Chinese martial arts like what the Japanese call as "Kiai"? Like a battle yell. In my short stint of kempo I was still doing the breathing techniques in Bajiquan (mouth tightly shut, tongue on palate, nasal breathing to dantian area, breathe out through nose) but the instructor says that I should (and another student) do "kiai" while kicking. I still tried to keep my mouth shut and all I can do was a shrill nasal "yell" (HHMMMRRRRRHHHMM!!!) while breathing out. I hate that I didn't get to ask about their style of breathing and why the ""kiai" but I assumed they are familiar with dantian breathing as well.

@@bajiquan.online Is it advisable to practice bao move separately? Not necessarily from this danshi but for Xiang Chui. I thought to myself that the bao move is an important defensive move specially since it's to deflect blows and possibly open an avenue of counter attack. I just finished my daily practice an hour ago and along with my danshi practice I decided to add practicing the bao move separately the way Xiang Chui is practice with the zigzag gen ti step but without doing xiang chui. My idea was to build up a muscle memory to do bao instinctively. I should try to find a way when I can either simulate blows coming at me or find an opportunity again to join a martial art class to get a feel of what receiving strikes again.
