Bajiquan Gen Ti & Dan conditioning demo - not a tutorial! 八極拳「跟提」與「單」練功示範,不是教學!

Спорт

My lower back is still recovering. I can’t use much force from my waist. So I let Charlie shoot this video showing Bajiquan Gen Ti and Dan conditioning. This is not a tutorial. Do NOT attempt! 腰部拉傷仍在恢復。目前腰部無法太用力。我讓 Charlie 幫我拍下練習八極拳「跟提」和「單」的短片給大家演示一下。這不是教學,請勿模仿!

Thank you master for new video and knowledge. i only know Gen Ti just to protect Groin. now i know it also can use for atk. i just curious when training Dan or other tree practice which we usually don't have tree in our house, is wooden dummy also sufficient to use for training?

Can the Gen Ti step be used to knee an attacker's/opponent's leg if they're too close to make some space to possibly used Cheng Chui?

@@bajiquan.online Very recently I started to try to develop a drill to train gen ti knee strike so I'd be more used to doing it (like muscle memory). I'd like to ask for your advice and possible improvement on it. What I've done was to hold on the position of the gen ti step with my hands positioned like in 4/6 stance (as if to do the cheng chui danda). From there I strike the air with the bended knee (20 per knee). But from reviewing this video, you were moving half a step before hitting the tree. Would it be better for me to do a half-step before doing the practice gen ti knee strike?

So this is one of the exercises that involves a tree? I remember in my previous comment where I mentioned that attacking a tree will be seen as weird or an assault on public property where I come from but someone replied that using a wooden dummy might be a good alternative. I recently found this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z5940aukcbmycbw.html where an Uechi Ryu karate practitioner is using a homemade wooden dummy to train. It looks like a homemade wooden dummy where a wooden pole is stuck to a tire filled with cement. Is it a good alternative to make a wooden dummy out of a wooden pole with thick rope bound on it's entire length (to act as some sort of cushion) similar to the karateka's wooden dummy ?

@@bajiquan.online So a smoother surface like a log or wrap the pole in leather would be better than rope? Got it. Thank you, shifu! Also when you said that callous hands make you look like you practice kung fu will make you a target for poisoning. Is that why dit da jow is used by practitioners of iron palm? I heard from a local kung fu master here (recently passed) that they used dit da jow when practicing iron palm to not only repair damages to the hand but to make their skin look supple and smooth.

@@bajiquan.online He died during the height of the pandemic. He was pretty old. He made his own dit da jow formula among other things like herbal supplements for general health stuff. I think he was the only school here who talked about that since the other schools were pretty secretive and a lot closed during the pandemic.

@@bajiquan.online I just had an idea whilst in the shower, shifu. I realized how stupid I am for planning to buy/salvage a big piece wood or a log and wrapping it in cloth and leather if I can buy a free standing modern punching bag I can buy for cheap. Specially the heavy non-moving ones. I was thinking of a solution as if it's 200 years ago instead of thinking "hey is there a modern more convenient version of this?". I also found out wing chun practitioners also buy those free standing punching bags and put attachments on them that simulate the arms of their traditional wooden dummy.

One doesn't have to be doctor to know a sand bag is way superior to a tree, which you can punch with full power while not hurting yourself, and also works for conditioning. If hitting a tree was good all the top boxers were punching trees.
