    I've been on a long journey to learning Baji. This has been a pursuit without access to a teacher in person, and in the short time I've found your videos. This has been the most educational and useful of all. I very much appreciate you sharing everything you have.

    I'm still doing the stretching/chops, stances, breathing, lesson 1 kicks, cheng chui, and xiang chui. I'm still not satisfied with what I can do at the moment. I only add the lessons little by little incorporating it in my daily exercises (for health purposes).

    Good video again :). Besides deviding all movements from the form in single movement I also practiced 小架 in the opposite direction. It is so difficult to explain people the essence and feeling, matter of fact my laoshi never did explain that part because I would never be able to truly develop the feeling if I would focus too much on it. At a certain point I asked what the feeling in my dantian was when I made small movements I felt a knot getting pulled in the same direction as my fists. After that point he was able tell me more about the feeling. Before that I was unable too, I could not speak Chinese at that time plus his Hebei dialect also was difficult to understand. Luckily that changed once i reach my second year in China ;)

    @joseknight9965 Жыл бұрын

    I think that mastering one routine is fine but then boredom can set in if there’s not enough variation in training. After several years of study I think it’s only natural that you would want to upgrade your skillset further

    @@bajiquan.online Hmm yes I just read a passage by Sun Tzu concerning energy. And similar to what your point is. " In battle there are not but two methods of attack. Direct and indirect yet these two combinations give rise to an endless series of maneuvers. The direct and indirect lead on to each other in turn. It is like moving in a circle. You never come to an end. Who can exhaust the possibilities of their combinations?"

    hello, congratulations for the channel, I'm really enjoying it. I started studying bajiquan a few years ago at Wu Lian zhi school in Mengcun. The Baji you teach seems very similar to me but with some difference, am I wrong? What kind of bajiquan is it?

    @@bajiquan.online I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be disrespectful, I'm just very curious😀. I have a book with a family tree of the bajiquan masters, can I send you a photo? i am also very interested in understanding the differences between mengcun's style and Luo tan's. I wish I could possibly study both of them

    Question: what about routines like Liu Da Kai and Jingang Bashi?

  • @bajiquan.online

    Liu Da Kai is six basic elements of Bajiquan. Jingang Bashi is eight single moves. They are not Taolu or routine. Threr's a so called Liu Da Kai Taolu, which was recently created.

    I agree to master just for the basic rather learn everything but not master anything. I saw many video bajiquan routine but still their stand still not strong enough so their move not feel any power. other just fell like only explosion by stomp their feet but not powerful move from my pov. Different if i saw a master doing routine that every move that they made are lethal. body firm like a mountain and moving so smooth but yet powerful. that's why i always think mastering a basic can make you easy to mastering anything. i remember once when i read master Li Shuwen master the spear technique only the basic Lan Na Zha.

    Yeah there is literally too many routines, and most pratitioners only do those routines with literally no sparring knowlege, which makes it even more meaningless or so to say in Chinese 本末倒置. Doing shadow boxing with short combos is way better than doing routine imo. There is criticism that more routines are just created to profit more from tuition fee. I was shocked the first moment I learn that cold hard truth.

    I guess that depends on the teacher? In the beginning I paid only 50usd for 6 months of training (the duration of a study term in china). After 2 years I did not have to pay my teacher anything, I gave him money out of my own.
