    Gee, nice to see the weather cooperating and making the 'outdoors lifestyle' such a joy! Queensland is really bunging on the welcome there 🙄 The lava tubes look amazing though and being able to see the path of the lava flows by the colour of the foliage is something that never even occurred to me until you mentioned it. We might have to venture to that part of the world if we ever decide to do The Cape as wifey loves her fossicking too. Was that a Bettong early in the video? It was very cute whatever it was. Hope all is going well with the new family addition and with the truck (bus) build as well. Looking forward to the next episode as always.

    Another fantastic video guys. Both of our Qld leisure trips have been 'vehicle related' bringing purchases back to Vic. The first was to pick up a car in Sanford Valley and we drove it down to Armidale in NSW via the Hinterland. Early morning, a bit of low cloud with the sun coming up, and it was utterly stunning country up in those hills. Just gorgeous. The second trip was to pick up our truck after a friend took it to his place at the Sunshine Coast for us. We were again heading to Armidale before going to stay with my cousin just outside Kempsey, and we headed down via some back blocks narrow roads behind what we later learned were the Glasshouse Mountains. After discovering a perfectly timed 'no trucks or caravans beyond this point' sign halfway (!!) along the dirt road shortcut we'd chosen, we had to backtrack and detour to Crow's Nest. We stopped for lunch at a little cafe (The Nest Cafe?) near the memorial park. I wish we'd had time to stay and explore as the national park areas you visited look lovely too and with hindsight breaking our trip to Armidale over two days would have been more comfortable. Lily's Bakery looks like it would have been an awesome lunch spot too. It's always hard to pass up a great bakery! If you ever find yourself down near Armidale both the Waterfall Way and the Wollomombi - Kempsey Road have incredible scenery. Just be aware the Wollomombi - Kempsey road is steep, narrow, winding, and has long drop-offs, but its route further towards Kempsey follows the Macleay River and the scenery is utterly stunning. Looking forward to the next instalments on the truck (bus) build and your travels 🙂

    Another great episode guys. Racing chickens to raise money for the RFDS is a new one on us, but good on them for doing so. Wifey trained as a paramedic and so we're all for supporting them in any way possible. And who knew that 'captive glowworms' was even a thing? 😳 So what distinguishes them from your garden variety free-range glowworm I wonder? Welcome to the truck (bus) family! You should find (she says confidently 🙄) that the Iveco won't chew through tyres given it's full-time 4WD. It tends to be part-time 4WDs that chew through rears like that; sadly a product of weight and torque cooking the sidewall just where it meets the bead - there isn't a lot you can do about it with heavy towing. Really looking forward to the fitout. I know the Canungra hills all too well for all the wrong reasons. I did a couple of training courses at the Land Warfare Centre, in those hills, and the Army was fond of making us run them to keep us fit. Thankfully that's now all a (very!) distant memory. I see from comments elsewhere you're an SG1 fan. We're friends with someone who played a character in the series very late in the piece. It's a great series - that's one hell of a golf drive 😂

  • @VetinaVan
    @VetinaVan22 күн бұрын

    Thanks!! It's good to finally not be constantly worrying about weights! The Iveco has 5.5t GVM and at this stage, fully loaded we will be at just under 5t. Still heavy but light for a truck. Running up those hills would have been a complete nightmare. But sounds like something the Army would do, bet you were fit! I love my Sci-fi, but have still not converted Tania yet, she had never seen Star Wars when we got together, which was almost a deal breaker! So it's been an uphill journey. 😀😀🤣

  • @contributor7219
    @contributor721922 күн бұрын

    @@VetinaVan Our little Canter is a short wheelbase, so it 'only' has a 5.5 ton GVM too. That's plenty to create a simple but nice living and sleeping space that's highly agile, with enough in reserve to tow a small trailer with a roof top tent if family or friends join us or we want a little more space ourselves on long trips. You'll obviously be looking for a bit more room than that to end up with a comfortable family space, nevertheless you should have lots of capacity to have great fun designing your setup. Like everyone else we'll look forward to seeing what you design and end up with. I have to admit I wasn't really a Sci-Fi movie or television fan either and had no idea at the time we met who my new friend was. It was only later that I had the stunningly cringeworthy realisation 🙄 If we ever cross paths out over a campfire somewhere it'll give you a good laugh at my expense.
