Ancient Art Galleries - East MacDonnell Ranges - Part 2

In this episode we continue exploring the wonders of the East MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia. We were waiting for some parts to arrive in for the Van in Alice Springs to this was the perfect opportunity to explore the area.
We start of in the old gold rush abandoned town of Arltunga dating back to 1887 which turned out to be some perfect home schooling for the boys. There is a great unmanned information centre that talks about the gold mining past then several self-guided walks taking you back 150 year. From there we head out to N’Dhala Gorge which is home to over 6,000 individual petroglyphs, or rock carvings, found in 438 engraved sites along the main gorge and 240 engraved sites in the side gorge. It is like one giant indigenous art gallery, it was a bit tricky to get into though given the road had been washed away! Still well worth it! Finally we head to the spectacular Trephina Gorge. Another amazing East MacDonnell Ranges gorge walk where the water was flowing.
The parts for the van arrived and I fixed the breaks so we were back on the road again! Fantastic little unexpected stop in Alice, which are usually the best. Enjoy.
Oh, and the quality of this one is a bit iffy because I accidently left one of the cameras in 256 FPS 2k, so it’s a bit jumpy!

Fantastic to see part two of your adventures in the East MacDonnells. It's on our list to do again sometime soon. Thank-you, as always, for chronicling your journeys and sharing them with the rest of us. As I've said before, we realise you wanted to do this primarily for friends and family but I'm sure I speak for everyone who watches when I say we feel privileged to see them too.

Thanks so much. Making these videos is also a bit of a hobby of mine. Their true value will be in a few decades when we and the kids can look back on this amazing time. 😃😃
