Winderabandi Point Campground, Ningaloo - Off Season (part 1)

In this episode we leave Cape Range National Park and continue working our way slowly down the West Cost crossing the infamous Yardie Creek Crossing then camping up at Winderabandi Point Campground on the pristine Ningaloo Coastline. I have broken this episode into two parts as we had heaps of footage and didn’t wand to make the episode too long! So this first part is aptly titled, Windy-bandi point as we had pretty shocking wind for the first week we were at Winderabandi! That being said, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, it’s a bit of a trade off when you travel in the off-season and sometimes if pays off, other times, no so much! For us though, we loved staying in an empty Winderabandi with the exception of a few locals and day trippers! Enjoy!

Just a heads up there are fresh water wells at south Lefroy and at Jane's Bay. You can drink it straight from out of the ground

Yeh, i have the marks for the wells at South Lefroy, but I assumed it is all the same bore water as the tap at Point Billy, which is currently a bit salty. We used heaps of the bore water for washing up and showers, then kept our tank water for drinking as its a bit nicer than the bore water. 🍻🍻😀👍

Do you think you could get an onroad van into there, towing it with a 4wd? Appreciate your honest opinion, guys. Great adventures btw.

Hi Stephen, in my opinion, yes, lots of people do. The key is to make sure you have dropped your tyre pressures all the way down and take it slow! The Corrigations are what damages vans on these tracks, so just make sure mechanically everything is ok and you have secured everything that might rattle around inside the van, like microwave plates, oven grills etc. Also good to have some recovery gear just incase. 😀😀👍👍

Your bore water filter, tell me about it, where did you buy it, is it worth the money, going to Lefroy in May

We use the Thirsty Nomad filters. They seem pretty good at taking the heavier metals out, but you still get the salt! 👍

How do you always manage to have a boat?

Haha, indeed! If we are going to be around an area for a while, I will jump on the local buy sway and sell, get a tinny, and flip it when we leave. That being said, we are working on a more permanent boat solution! 😉👍🍻🍻

Hey team what tyres are you using please

We use Maxxis Razor MT's 295/70R17. Odd size I know but works for our setup. We only get about 40,000kms out of our tyres max due to the abuse they cop on rocks etc. AT's would last longer being harder than an MT, but we need the grip. 👍👍🍻🍻

Hey Sharon, we were in site 46 right up the end. In hindsight, we probably should have gone further down as the lower numbered sites in the 20's were a bit more protected from the wind at that time of year. 👍👍
