The Great Australian Detour

In this episode we leave Steep Point and head back to Wooramel River Station where we pick up the caravan and start our journey east! This was meant to be the beginning of our journey along the Great Central Road that travels through the centre of Australia, travelling West to East, but the weather had other plans! What was the Great Australian Shortcut quickly became the Great Australian Detour! But we did get a bit of adventuring in passing through the Sandstone Heritage Trail and on to Gwalia Ghost Town & Museum in the heart of the Western Australian Goldfields.
Enjoy! 😊

It's great to tour through some of the lesser known areas of Australia's Goldfields past, we love it. 😀😀

A few episodes back we thought: 'Your family is about to outgrow that '76, you'll need a truck soon...' Fingers crossed we'll soon be welcoming you to the truck-travel community if all goes the way it looks to be going. Good ol' Herbert Hoover, for good reason not so fondly remembered by our US brethren it seems!

Another great vid, I’ve missed watching you guys, just been doing a bit of adventuring myself. I used to work at SOG in the nineties, so long ago but I love that area still. This truck license business has piqued my interest. You could go a Isuzu or Mitsi as you’re used to a rough ride 😂😂😂 (unmodded seats !!!) or maybe a six seat Ram, who knows, should be interesting.

Hi guys love the video and the info on all the places you go see but just what to ask as looking at buy a 76 what’s the gvm you are running thanks

With the coil conversion, we are 3900 pre reg gvm, very tight on weight! The new tug has a bit more.. We don't have any tune either, so the power is less than a 200 series. But we aint trying to drag anyone off the lights, so still very happy with the 76, and it's been pretty much indestructible.. 👍🤙🍻

Nice post. We really enjoyed our time at Mt Magnet. Went up to Cue then on to ghost town of Bell. Anyway can I ask are they clear views or MSA mirrors?

Yeh, it's a pretty cool part of Outback WA. I just wish we had a bit more time to explore! The dumbo ears are Clearview. They were the only viable option when I built the car back in 2019. Would do MSA ones now if I was building a new rig. 🍻🍻
