Oodnadatta Track, William Creek, Pink Roadhouse and The Painted Desert
In this episode we continue our journey into the captivating landscapes of Australia's Oodnadatta Track! Join us on this incredible road trip as we explore the wonders of the William Creek, Pink Roadhouse, and the awe-inspiring Painted Desert.
Our journey commences along the Oodnadatta Track, an iconic outback route that cuts through the heart of South Australia. As we traverse this remote and picturesque track, we find ourselves immersed in the raw beauty of the Australian outback, surrounded by vast red sand dunes and an endless expanse of untamed wilderness.
Our first stop is the charming William Creek Hotel. This remote town, known as the "Gateway to Lake Eyre," became home for the week where we experienced heat like never before!
Continuing our expedition, we venture further along the Oodnadatta Track, arriving at the world-famous Oodnadatta Pink Roadhouse. As we approach, the vibrant pink hues of the roadhouse instantly stand out against the rugged desert backdrop. This iconic stopover is a true gem in the outback. We were hoping for a good pub meal but unfortunately being the low season, the restraint was only serving limited food.
Leaving the Pink Roadhouse behind, we headed towards the breath-taking Painted Desert. The ancient sedimentary rocks of the Painted Desert create an ethereal tapestry of reds, yellows, and purples, creating an otherworldly spectacle that is simply beautiful.

Your videos are going from strength to strength, guys. Thanks Guys! Yup, it was super special to have the place to ourselves. We rocked up at the homestead and they were baffled as to why we were travelling in the middle of summer. They were fine for us just to camp at the main viewing area, pretty lucky! But very hot!
Wow the painted desert has been on our list for so long. Thanks so much for the images. We have just taken the first step in our plan to start traveling full time in around April 25 🤞 Can’t wait.

Yup, it had been on our bucket list for ages, and it did not disappoint!! We were so lucky being able to stay where we stayed, one of the perks of travelling through the desert in the middle of summer when no one else is around! So 17 month until you leave then, how exciting!!🤙

Next time you are passing Coober Pedy, check out The Breakaways. It’s only about 10 kms off the highway and looks just as good as the Painted Desert.

Thanks guys! It was a bit of a mission the night before we arrived as the station campgrounds was closed. The owner came out and thought we were crazy coming through in Feb. Said we could go camp at the lookout as long as we left no trace, pretty lucky in the end! Safe travels. 🍻🍻👍
It is just as well that Tanya is a Vet. I don’t think she would survive as a hairdresser. 😉 I so enjoy your videos.

Hey Susan, its well worth it, hope you get some banging sunsets as the colours are awesome. I use a DJI Mavic Air2S but i think the new Mini 3 Pro is probably on par with this now as the Air2S is getting pretty old. Enjoy the trip! 👍👍
